Hytar's Ship ch 2

Tala wiggled her ears. "That makes being in water much more hazardous. One would not wish to drown, no matter how pleasing the water is. It is well you survived."

The cops waited patiently for Hytar. They nodded in greeting when he came out to see them.

"You are the captain here?" the first cop asked.

"It all seems overly complicated," Tala said. "I am glad these people are not of my concern. You must feel fortunate to be away from their silliness."

Nikita weakly smiled, "Yeah..." the thing was, it was her concern, her almost birthright to care for these people. Damnit and her family line, her father for his rash choices. She sighed, feeling like she needed a drink. "I'm gonna head to a local bar, when you are able would you like to join?"

"That sounds an excellent plan, I will join you when my duties are done," Tala said brightly, oblivious to Nikita's worried thoughts. "I shall track you by scent, if that is not overly insulting," she added with an ear wiggle.

"That's completely fine." Nikita nodded and smiledheading to leave.

Tala cow-smiled back. "Enjoy the day, Nikita!" She relaxed, waiting for Vestia to arrive.

She nodded with a wave (and to the bars!)

Tala kept an eye on the sky, waiting for Vestia to appear. Before long the huge ship came into view in the sky, a speck that rapidly grew larger, and a few minutes later, landed neatly in a very, very large parking space next to a pair of other cruise ships.

Tala snorted happily and went to her ship to see the star dragons, and tell them about Vestia's arrival, although they probably already knew.

The dragons were watching the sky too as the new ship came in, though they weren't sure of who it was.

"Hark! This is the ship you have awaited!" Tala proclaimed grandly. She was glad to see Vestia again, the ship felt like home to her these days, and she had missed it.

Hytar, having told Eleven and Lope they were, under no uncertain terms, now confined to the ship for the duration of this stop and to get back to work, now recieved word that Vestia had arrived.

He smartened up and headed over to Tala's ship with his Valet in tow.

The half of swarm with Tala's ship had been pretty quiet all this time, observing, learning, recovering from the loss of their number. Once Vestia landed they scattered, heading out to find their other selves and remerge.

Nikita would locate the two trouble makers, wondering what they did to get the "rookie" of the crew to be babysitting them. She knocked on the door of the engine room eyeing the questionable state it was in. Yeah she wasn't a mechanic and could tell it needed work, "Hullo?"

Eleven was hanging upside down working on something, goggles over xyr eyes.

Lope frowned a little at Nikita. "Come to help?" He asked.

She shrugged, "I was told to come here to give a hand, why I don't know since I don't have much skills as a mechanic. I am better at destroying ships then breaking them." Nikita mused, looking at the two, "but there is a reason why Hytar wanted me here with you two, tell me what I can do and I'll do it."

Tala headed onto Hytar's ship to see whether the mechanics and such were doing their jobs. She followed her nose and ears to where Lope and Eleven and Nikita were.

Nikita turned to see Tala, "Hey watcha doing here?" She asked, more or less staying in her corner since she had 0 mechanical skills.

"Your captain asked me to ensure that you were busy," Tala declared. "Besides, it is a fair day to visit with such fine companions!" she looked pleased.

She chuckled, "I have no clue why I am here because I have zero mechanical skills."

"It is obviously because he sees something in you that you do not see," Tala proclaimed, trying to keep her ears still. "You will find that you are capable of what you did not know you could, I heard this in a self help book once."

"I can take ships apart and hack, repair and rebuild isn't for me." Nikita laughed, a sheepish grin on her face.

"Hold this steady." Eleven instructed.

Lope frowned. "You're here to make sure we don't leave I suppose." He shook his head.

"yeah, the boss is PISSED OFF" Eleven snickered.

Nikita held this bemused look while holding what Eleven told her to hold. She let out a low whistle, "Damn, it takes skill to piss off a captain that much that he'll stick the fresh meat to babysit. Hell I never had a crew member piss me off when I captained my ship to do that.."

"What did you two do to make him so annoyed?" Tala asked Lope and Eleven. "You must have been quite foolish."

Eleven snorted and kept tightening the bolts they were working on.

Lope looked sheepish. "we didn't mean to!" He protested.

"The slaves got the wrong end of the stick, went running to the cops who got all freaked out thinking the boss was a slaver." Eleven sounded dismissive, like getting into trouble really was nothing new.

Lope nodded. "and he really hates slavers."

"He got rid of em, but we're stuck here for the foreseeable future, doing grunt work." Eleven sighed. "No shore leave for us."

Lope looked glum. "We.. probably should have been more careful in what we said to those people. "

"hey, it's their problem they're all paranoid wrecks. Besides, i'm still certain the boss DOES have an ulterior motive. He doesn't do anything out of the goodness of his heart, he doesn't HAVE a heart." Eleven snickered.

Lope edged away. "Shhh, you want to be cleaning out septic tanks!?"

"Oh he's not even here. And i've said worse to his damn face." Eleven finished with the bolt.

Lope looked uncomfortable.

Tala snorted. "That is most amusing. At least the slaves know to be cautious, it is a dangerous world for the indoctrinated and the poor. You may have done well to warn them." She looked at the three, "So now as punishment, you are being supervised by Nikita, who is being supervised by me. This is most excellent." She did like being in charge.

Nikita listened amused, "eh, could of been worse. Could of been like me and gotten drunk on shore leave and covered the whole platoon captain gear and room with glitter." She held this impish grin, "Boy I was cleaning that shit for months."

Eleven snickered. "Oh he'd HATE that"

"Don't!" Lope warned, looking worried. He was fairly certain Hytar would not just make them clean stuff for that, nah uh.

"I don't plan on doing it." Nikita snorted, "Just sayimg you could of done something stupider. I was young, 22 when I did that and I did learn my lesson... though totally was still worth it." The shard grin widely.
