UPON VESTIA: CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

Kay looked amused at that remark. [You're probably right. And bottom bunk, because I wasn't willing to argue the point. There were about 12 of us in one room, it was fairly cramped.] Not that he'd spent many evenings IN his bunk considering. Nope, his evenings had been spent locked in an old bunker hoping like heck he wouldn't get out and nobody would find him.

Ivor shrugged. "I do.. don't know..." He came out into the hall and closed the door carefully behind himself. "You have animals on a ship?"

"If they have no choice, then they are still slaves." Armin bowed his head.

Armin chuckled. "If you attempt such a thing, I would very much like to be far away, just in case she takes offense."

Silence tilted her head at James. "You're strange." She told him.

"Shh." Ivor hissed, looking a bit panicked. "you.. you can't say that!"

Esk looked to Dawn, yeah he was worried, but he didn't show it. She should be pretty used to his inability to show normal emotions by now. "Try to drink." He went to get her a glass of water and set it beside her bed. "Get better."

"If it is our version, then no, not unless you are Pandorian." Dawn said, closing her eyes again and glad she didn't have to read. She blinked and looked at the glass then smiled at Esk, sitting up a little to drink from it. "Thanks" She didn't drink much before she laid down again.

"Don't be so worried, we've all been called weird or strange at least once." Skye said with a chuckle. "Most of us are ok with that, because we know we are and it isn't said with malice."

Esk nodded. "Keep Rigel away then." He told Vestia. "Sleep." he told Dawn.

James grinned. "I don't mind being called strange. I am strange."

\"All right. I'll be back later, Dawn," Asher said. He headed for the door.

Dawn lifted a hand to wave and settled in to sleep if she could

Esk left, walking with Asher. "How the hell did she get sick?" He asked. Should he go make sure Rigel was okay? hmm, maybe he should.

"a...alright..." Ivor accepted.

Silence looked smug.

Armin chuckled.

Rigel was on the Silver Devil, working on something on the ship. Old ships always needed something repaired.

Skye chuckled "We are rather 'laid-back' on this ship"

"I'm not sure. Maybe it had something to do with her bring injured," Asher said, frowning. "We'll need to figure out what sickness she has in order to figure out what most likely caused it. For now, we should keep Rigel away from her, to make sure he doesn't catch it as well."

"Yeah, we don't care of you call us weird, cause it's true." James looked pleased.

Esk nodded. "Vestia, can you let Rigel know so he can stay away?"

Ivor looked confused.

"Do not worry my friend, most of the crew do not take offense easily." Armin tried to reassure the guy.

Vestia would tell Rigel that Dawn was sick, and that he might want to avoid her while they were figuring out what was wrong.

"Done," Vestia said.

"Thanks," Asher said to her. He looked to Esk, "I'd better get reading. I'll tell you once I figure out what this is, okay?"

James nodded. "We don't get insulted easily." Well, unless they called James scrap metal. That was an easy way to rile him up.

Esk nodded. "Good." He headed off, he believed Asher could figure this out, no sense getting worried yet.
He'd just ignore the faint feeling of unease about all this. Dawn would be fine, she always was.

"th...that's... good?" Ivor nodded

Rigel frowned and looked over towards the camera "Dawn's sick? I thought she was getting better." He said worriedly.

"If anyone is offended, they will say so, if only to ask for whatever not to be said again." Skye added then shrugged a little.

Asher found a random room to read Dawn's journal in. He didn't want to go straight back to the med bay, just in case whatever Dawn had caught could infect Kay.
He needed to try and figure out what the heck this disease was, and how dangerous it might be, and quickly.

"She has a fever. Her wound is healing fine though," Vestia told Rigel. "Asher's reading up on this."

"no punishment?" Ivor asked. He didn't quite look like he believed that.

Silence licked juice off her talons.

"You are safe here my friend." Armin tried to reassure ivor.

"Yeah, no punishment, man. We don't do that," James said. "You're an adult. Punishing adults, or even other peoples kids, is like, not something you do."

The journal listed the few illnesses the Pandorians could get, mostly virus form. It seemed only one could fit the symptoms Dawn had though, it was a virus that attacked when the person was injured around the stomach. Some of the white blood cells mutated sometimes, causing fevers until the body healed. This one wasn't contagious, they just caused weakness on top of the injury.

Skye chuckled softly and nodded "We don't really do punishment unless someone actively and maliciously does something to hurt us. Like the Family, or slavers."

Asher considered that entry in the journal, frowning. Well it wasn't contagious, that was good. Still, poor Dawn. He read further to see if there were any treatments needed, or if they were just going to need to take care of her and let the sickness run its course.

For this one, they just had to wait it out, giving fever reducers if needed. It would go away once she healed. There were rare times when the virus didn't go away and had to be treated, with the recommended treatment given.

"Vestia, tell Esk and Rigel that the fever most likely isn't contagious, and that Dawn should recover as her wound finishes healing. Also keep an eye on Dawn, and tell me if her condition changes," Asher said.

"On it," Vestia said. She'd tell Esk and RIgel what was up.

"Thank you." Asher smiled, then headed for the med bay.

Rigel sighed and nodded "Good, I'm glad she'll be alright."

Esk just nodded at Vestia's explanation.
He went to the holodeck to see if there were any psych lectures.

Ivor looked uncertain, but he nodded.

Esk would probably be able to find some psych lectures on the holodeck. Vestia had downloaded a lot of random programs while she was at the Guild after all.

James smiled at Ivor. "You'll adjust to this place eventually, man."

Esk set one up, maybe listening would be better than reading.

"i... yes." Ivor conceded. It was going to take time though.

"Like ship." Silence declared. It was big, it had plentiful food and nobody seemed to freak out if she wandered about in her true form. Yep, this was a pretty good place in her mind.

Ivor smiled weakly.

"she is a very good ship." Armin agreed.

"Have you been up to the top deck yet? If you want to go, there's a ballroom that you can see the stars through. Or sky, when we are on a planet." Skye said, changing the topic

Vestia's lights shifted to a pink hue as she blushed at the praise.

"Oh yeah, that ballroom is nice, if you don't mind space," James said, nodding.

"a... b.. ballroom?" Ivor had no idea what that even was.

Silence tilted her head. "See stars." Yes, she liked this idea.

Skye chuckled softly "A ballroom is a place where you have a ball, that's a special dance where you get all dressed up fancily. We used it as a party room once."
