Upon Silver Devil: Chapter Four

Dawn would be alright, she just got bored laying there alone and without a project to do.

"Excellent, then this shall be a fine chance to learn of most delicious skills," Tala told Luka good naturedly. "There are few things better than cooking food. Slaughtering one's enemies is also pleasing of course, but it does not fill the stomach."
"The two of you will handle reading the recipe, I will follow orders as I do not like deciphering the small squiggles on the screen," she added.

Dawn chuckled and nodded "Alright, here we go." She said then read off the ingredients, making sure they had the right things in the right measurements before reading how to mix and cook them to make the pastry.

Luka diligently helped collect ingredients and measuring implements. Dawn was probably the best person to read any recipe written in common, though Luka was pretty fluent, she still struggled with text she wasn't overly familiar with and for a recipe, getting measurements wrong would be terrible right?

Tala was useful to combine ingredients, and she knew where most things in the kitchen were, either by scent or by memory from previous cooking endeavors. She also occasionally offered helpful opinions such as, "This recipe requires most excellent spices. It is clear that it was penned by someone who has a sense of smell."

Dawn smiled and looked at the two of them, though she stayed out of the way. Two cooks was enough, she would stick to reading and telling them what to do.

Luka did as she was told, awkwardly handing tala things and measuring stuff very carefully.

The three cooks would somehow manage to follow the recipe fairly closely. So what if the dough was overmixed or the wrong amount of sugar was added? So what if they made a bit of a mess? It was all in good fun.

Tala got a noseful of flour at one point and had to leave the kitchen for a while until she got her sneezing under control. Otherwise she was pretty useful though.

Dawn had fun and watched the oven as they waited for the sweets to cook.

The baked goods would eventually be done baking. They were probably edible, they certainly smelled good. "We are achieving greater things than the rest of the crew," Tala declared grandly.

Dawn chuckled and pulled out the pastries once they were done, setting them to cool a little before they would try and see if they were edible. "They do smell good."

Luka nodded, they did. "It takes a lot of self control to let them cool." She laughed.

"We shall pray the others do not return before these are cool," Tala said. "They might beg for us to share." Her ears wiggled.

Dawn nodded and smiled softly "Waiting simply builds the anticipation."

Luka laughed. "No baked goods for them!" Maaan, the waiting was haaard though. She busied herself trying to clean up the mess.

Tala got out a small vacuum cleaner for the flour that had gotten all over, and started vacuuming. "Yes, the anticipation is excellent. I do hope these are cool before the others return though, my anticipation desires many of these baked things for myself, and there are too many of them who will consume them."

Dawn chuckled and joined in on the cleanup. The sweets probably would be cool enough when they finished.

Luka tried in vain to brush flour off herself but nope, that stuff wasn't coming off without actually washing her clothes. Oops? Should have worn an apron.
She started washing dishes anyway.

By the time the kitchen was pretty much clean, and everyone had changed whatever clothes needed changing, the sweets were cool enough to not burn anyone's mouths. Tala sniffed the air happily.

Dawn checked over the sweets and smiled "Good, these should be cool enough for us now" She said, taking one happily.

Luka had gone and got changed, but probably still had some flour in her hair. Oh well.
She took a pastry and took a bite. It wasn't perfect sure, but mmm warm pastry.

Tala took one and demolished it in two bites. "It is better than some battles I have fought," she proclaimed. "We have done well, my friends."

Luka laughed, she couldn't help it, Tala's way with words was hilarious.

Dawn chuckled, eating hers happily. They had done well, or well enough for her.

"the guys are gonna be so jealous when they get back." Luka teased, licking her fingers clean.

"Indeed. Well if they desire delicious treats, they can always bake for themselves as we did," Tala said. "It is a fine bonding experience, which would bring them closer together." Esk would love that, no doubt about it.

Dawn chuckled and shook her head, snagging another treat for herself.

Luka snorted, she just couldn't picture the boys baking together. It was funny to try though.
