Upon Vestia: Chapter Six

Matt nodded and helped Thalia out into the hall, giving Merith a wide berth. No way was he trusting that guy.

Moone could read, just slowly since she was still learning. "Oh yes, he jumped off the high deck over the waterfall so me and Skye jumped and caught him." She said excitedly then looked to Kay "Miss Starr said you have a different way to talk, faster than writing and reading, is that true?"

Shane took a seat, still watching the two "It's almost like they are trying to avoid one another now'

"I'll bet you twenty credits they're together now, and trying to avoid us noticing," Ellie said.

Kay looked alarmed. [Jumped!?] Was the cat really that crazy? He nodded at her second comment and tapped his head. [I'm a telepath, I can speak into people's heads but some people either can't hear it, or don't like it.]

Matt scoffed. "No way, my brother is like.. totally sexually repressed. Even if the robot suddenly managed to... you know, not be a robot, there's no way they're together. " He glanced over at Kay. Nah, couldn't be... right? I mean Kay himself had said it was impossible for Asher to reciprocate his feelings, that's why he felt safe to indulge it. He knew Kay had issues, though he'd never been certain of the full details, he just knew that Kay didn't DO normal relationships. Still... hooking up with a robot wasn't exactly normal was it?
Hmmm.
He wracked his brain for any other excuse for their oddness. Had they had an argument over something?

"Well they probably haven't done you-know-what yet, knowing them," Ellie said thoughtfully. "Do you think robots are even able to...?"

"He knew we would catch him" Moone said with a shrug like it didn't matter then frowned and pointed to 'telepath' "I don't know that word yet, but it sounds cool, can I hear it?" She asked and looked to him again

Shane shrugged "Well, it has been obvious they both like eachother, so why not have this be a reaction to talking?"

Matt winced. "The thought of my brother's sex life is utterly horrifying, I need a stiff drink now to purge my brain of that mental image thanks." He laughed though and shoved Ellie playfully. "I dunno, why don't you ask him?" Matt smirked, yeah he'd been curious about that too. What'd that say about them?
"Who knows how messed up those Terran robot designers were. "

Kay nodded. It means I can do this, and... read other people's surface thoughts, but I try not to. It's rude to invade their privacy like that. It was a strange sensation, it wasn't words or sounds as such, more it felt like remembering someone had just spoken.

Ellie snickered. "Sorry. I guess that would be weird for you to think about." She shoved him back, "You should ask though! You have better social skills." To Shane she said, "Yeah, talking. About something."

"yeaaah but what if he gets mad at me? And then Kay will get mad at me. " He eyed Shane. "Shane should ask." He laughed.

Shane chuckled and looked over to Kay, who seemed busy with Moone at the moment, so he looked to Asher, watching the droid. At Matt's suggestion, his gaze flew back to his friend and he shook his head "Nope, not going there."

Moone grinned and shook her head "That's so weird, but cool" She said then tilted her head "But how is the word said?" She asked then frowned a little as her thoughts changed Does that mean if we gave permission, you could see what happened, even if I don't remember myself? She was curious, but uncertain still

"We could both go. I'll be your meat shield if Kay goes all attack dog on you," Ellie suggested to Matt. She was kind of glad Shane wanted to stay out of this, to be honest.

Matt laughed. "Oh heck no, i'm way too sober for personal questions. Plus you know i'm a coward, I don't wanna piss off the medics, they control my pain relief if i'm hurt! "

Kay shook his head, he couldn't teach pronunciation sadly without being able to articulate sound. You'll have to ask someone else for how to say things, sorry.   Her surface thoughts were loud, he frowned, considering the thought. I don't know, i've never tried. But are you certain you want to remember? Sometimes our heads block things for a reason, it's not a good idea to reopen those wounds.

Ellie giggled at leaned against the piano. "Next time Heny's whiskey comes out, maybe. Oh, or hey Vestia, what do you know?"

Vestia remained carefully silent.

Moone looked down at the floor then shrugged "Not right now, but I don't want to never remember also" She said quietly. She didn't let it show, but not remembering had it's own fears that she fought down. "Today was nice, to just be a kid again, but it made me think of home and wonder what happened to our parents and friends, the village" She took a breath then looked to him again "Today is not the day for those thoughts though, today is for Miss Heny and her baby"

Kay nodded sadly, and hesitantly reached out to pat the kid on the shoulder. He felt sorry for her.

Matt snickered. "Vestia's not speaking to us. Either she knows something, or she's still mad at me." He started to play the piano.

"She totally knows something. Kay probably threatened her into silence," Ellie whispered, looking slyly at the closest camera. "How in the world did you learn to play piano, anyway? Do they have those where you came from?"

Shane listened tot hem, thinking about it "Or it could be that we are in the same room you know, they can hear her if she talks here"

Moone smiled a little then shrugged "Sorry, I didn't mean to make the day have sadness."

Matt laughed at the idea of Kay threatening Vestia and shrugged. "When I left the munitions factory I didn't have a lot else to do. I didn't really wanna go home so I traveled about for a few years, picked up odd skills along the way." He played a little flourish. "I stole a grand piano on a dare once, don't ask me how okay, it's a long story. Anyway, figured I may as well learn to play the damn thing because NOBODY wants to buy a second hand piano, trust me. "

No, it's not your fault. Don't... don't think that. Perhaps we should discuss this memory loss thing at another time.

"Nah, Vestia would just say it to everyone and embarrass the crap out of them if that was the case," Ellie laughed. "I really want to ask how you stole a piano now, but you just said not to ask. That's amazing though."

"So...Why is Vestia mad at you?" Shane asked, looking to Matt and changing the subject before he could ask about the piano incident further

Moone nodded then looked around "You aren't by Asher as much today" She said, glancing to the android then back to Kay "Did you two fight?"

"well I was a bit drunk at the time so half of it i'm not really sure I just imagined." Matt laughed.

He looked at Shane and shrugged. "Yeah, Thalia and I forgot to cover up the camera and she got a bit upset.... and then we made it worse by talking to her while naked.. well.. I made it worse. So now she's mad. " He lowered his voice "secretly though, i think she liked it." He nodded, burst into laughter and went back to playing.

Kay flushed and looked away, trying to hide it. No, no fighting. Everything's fine. He looked back and smiled reassuringly.

"I did not!" yelled Vestia through the closest speaker.

Ellie collapsed against the piano in a fit of giggles. "Oh my God."

Matt laughed. "see? She's totally still mad."

Thaila eyes widden and barked at matt, "Doghouse Mr.!" He said firmly, his face flushed red.

Shane had to cover his mouth to keep from bursting out in laughter. He could so see that happening between those two and the ship. "Maybe Asher can help make something to put on the room cameras so you can turn them off or cover them whenever you want to?" He said to Vestia when he could control his expression.

Moone tilted her head then nodded with a shrug "Well, I hope whatever it is is settled soon then, I like seeing you two close, you both seem happy then even when you don't smile much"

Vestia grumbled softly, thinking of Asher's willingness to disconnect her cameras earlier that day. "He's staying away from my cameras, thank you very much."

Shane blinked at the grumbled words and raised an eyebrow then looked to Ellie. Did she have any idea what that was about?

"Told you Vestia knows things," Ellie muttered in Shane's ear. "We need to get her to talk."
