Matt pondered, he didn't really know what to ask now. Hmmm. "okay... so you hate swimming and you hate dancing... what do you like to do for fun? Aside from sex." He snickered.

"Well I do love to sing... And knit." He added in a sheepish tone.

"you SING?" Matt was shocked. "And you never told me? Oh my god man, you totally gotta sing for me at some point. " He grinned. "knitting sounds kinda useful. Best I can do is darn and mend holes."

He sheepishly nodded, "Yea...dont like being in the spot lights so I dont tell people. And yea being on a ship for long period of time knitting is rather relaxing. I can also cook too, plus some baking...maybe." He laughed.

Asher smiled softly. "You have every reason to be conflicted." He added, "Life's left both of us broken, in different ways. It's okay. I can understand."

Asher wasn't sure he agreed, but he smiled back. "My point is, I understand how confusing this is for you, and it's okay if you need to slow down, or something."

[You are FAR too understanding and considerate of others needs ahead of your own. ] Kay stared into those beautiful grey eyes. [What do you need? perhaps we can find a comfortable compromise. ]

"Hmmm...Favorite color?" Thaila asked

Matt laughed. "I'm colourblind." He shrugged. "well... not completely but... everything is sorta a dull blah colour to me. "

"Oh..." thaila said guiltily, then had a sudden idea, "Do..you want to see color?"

Matt frowned, bewildered. "wait.. h.. how could you do that?"

He hesitated, not sure how much honesty he was willing to offer here. Finally he admitted nervously, "I've found that the best way to cope with my own problems is to distract myself by worrying about other peoples' problems instead. Which is extremely messed up, I know." He smiled sadly. "As for what I need? Your company is more than enough. I honestly never expected even this much."

Kay smiled softly, okay maybe Asher really was just as screwed up as he was. He pulled him into an awkward hug, not really sure why he felt the need to do that. You hug people when they're sad right?

Matt nodded and did as he was told, closing his eyes.

Asher hugged Kay back uncertainly, surprised by the gesture. He had kind of expected Kay to dump him on the spot; he hardly seemed like the type of person who had much patience for stupid psychological issues. After a few moments, he pulled away to look at Kay apologetically. "Like I said, we're both broken in our own ways. If you'd rather not deal with my particular type of broken, then that's all right."

Kay looked up at him, that irritated "you're being an idiot" look in his eyes, the one he usually reserved for patients. Pulling away he typed. [It's hardly fair for you to tolerate my neurosis and me not to tolerate yours. ] His expression softened. [You don't have to hide things for my sake Asher. I've dumped a lot of my emotional baggage on you, never feel you can't lighten the load a little.] He shook his head. [I need to know you aren't just going along with my shit because you feel obligated to alright? Enough with the subservience. You're better than that. Be selfish for goodness sake.] He looked stern.

Matt gasped, fighting to keep his eyes closed as he marvelled at all of this. Clear detail, vivid colour. "Gods... it's beautiful.... " He murmured.

Thaila would carefully turn his head around so matt could see it all, includign himself, "Yea...it is." He softly replied.

Matt burst into laughter, this was so weird. "i... can't even form.. sentences... "

Thaila grinned, "Are...you happy?"

"i'm overwhelmed... And really thinking I need to get new contact lenses." He laughed.

Thaila laughed, "Guess eye doctor trip for you."

Asher thought that over. He knew Kay was right, but it was still difficult to ignore his conditioning. "I know, and believe me, I'm trying to change," he said, trying to sound less hesitant, with moderate success. "What they did to me was wrong. What I've done to myself is wrong. And I'm going to have a hard time fixing the world if I don't fix myself first."
He looked at Kay, amused. "I was selfish enough to tell you how I felt about you. That's something, right?"
