Upon Vestia: Chapter Five

"All right... right, we'd better get him to the med... the med bay," Asher said. "And... and do some tests to see what's needed."

Matt nodded and veeeery carefully tossed stuff into the bag. He didn't really want to touch it too long, even wearing gloves, or indeed look that hard at most of it. Yeesh. What was wrong with this girl?

Once the junk was bagged they went to the shuttle bay.

Starr looked back at Heny again. She was a little worried for the keeper and hoped this wouldn't effect the baby

Matt followed Thaila, he kinda just felt like the guy shouldn't be left alone... particularly not with engine fuel.

"I...better get cleaned up.." She mumble in a dazed tone, as if not sure what to do.

He found a empty metal barrel and dumped the junk into it and went searching for engine fuel.

"Uh.. Vestia.. how good are you fire suppression systems?" Matt asked. "and is there a fire extinguisher anywhere?"

"Good enough. I'll manage when something goes wrong," Vestia said dully.

Matt nodded. "When, not if?" He smiled oddly. "Sensible ship."

Starr noodded "I will walk with you." She said, following the dazed keeper and helping her back to her room

Thaila came back and started to dump some into the barrel before struggling to get it lit, tears blinding him.

"...star...why do people...people like her live and good people like Syren die?" She asked weakly, bitter tears seeping through, "What do they have that people like her don't? Its not fair."

Matt actually took the matches off him gently. "Hey, it's okay... " Yep, here it came. He lit the flame himself. "You sure you want to do this?" He asked one final time.

"B-burn it."He said harshly as the tears came, "Burn it all."

Vanessa had pulled her pupil out of the room after Heny had begun her rampage. As much as she felt the death to be well deserved, she knew it would be hard to watch. Pert of her regretted giving Heny the reins. Sometimes she felt that even the most hardened villain should be given a cleaner death than they themselves would give. Quinn had already shut out the screams, to which Third had started stirring again. This caused Vanessa to sigh, "You really need to learn how to create a singular persona instead of rejecting the third soul..."

Sonata was still near the eggs, keeping a careful watch over them and being very defensive of those who neared and handled them, but still allowed them to be touched. Rey had kept close to Sonata and still kept her extra appendages covered to make sure no one knew her little addition to her normal biology.

Jay, meanwhile, was dragging Kaleb along to the kitchens with a suspicious look on his face. He snuck past Lilian, who had fallen asleep in a random rec room on her notes and snored softly as she was sleeping on her folded arms with her hair splayed everywhere. The kid snuck around, making sure he wasn't being seen and tried to dodge the cameras.

Matt nodded, pulled Thaila back to a safe distance as he lit the barrel alight.

Dully he sat in the ground, "I...I would never of thought...she would of done that." He said weakly.

Matt nodded. "I know... you think you know a person, I mean, you love them unconditionally but then they do something awful and it's so conflicting. " He patted Thaila on the shoulder. "You aren't her, always remember that. " Least he really hoped he wasn't like his sister. He got the feeling he wasn't though.
He sat with him and watched the fire.

He bitterly smiled, "No..I was the sane one, the one that was told to keep each other safe...the one that did the dirty work for the longest time so we wouldn't be caught or enslaved..."

Matt sighed. "Sucks being the one who keeps everyone else from going mental doesn't it?"

He deeply sighed, "And in the end its the sane one that looses.."

"I dunno... you're free now right?" Matt shrugged. "no more looking after her and cleaning up her messes. " Oh dear, now he was getting emotional. It was hard to watch someone else cry and not tear up a little yourself. He didn't even KNOW Sulon, but Thaila's grief was contagious

"She was all I had left...our parents died fighting,everyone else went into hiding leaving us alone and not willing to take in two kids we had to scrap and get by...." He couldn't finish.

Matt nodded. "So did mine. " He tried to decide if this was a hug moment or not? Was it a little too much to hug someone you barely knew? arghh.. he really didn't know what to do and shuffled awkwardly.

Thaila sighed and just stared at the fire, "Do...you know where any beer or hard spirits are at?" He had plans of getting totally wasted.

"Ahh now that IS something I can help with." He went through his pockets, he'd restocked on beer and brought out a couple of bottles. He gave both to Thaila, mostly because after last night he couldn't quite stomach drinking right now.

He bit off each cap before going on a champion chugging spree.
