Unity Station

First topic message reminder :

Just outside of Imperium space, a small but well equiped research station.

Unity is a joint venture between multiple worlds, hence the name. Xenobiology, anthropology and astronomy are some of the things researched here.
There's a small school, a few shops, one or two tiny restaurants and a coffee shop but generally speaking, the majority of the inhabitants are either researchers or family of researchers.

The chief of medicine is an insectoid woman named Yessalia.
Chief of security is a man named Tias.

"That's unfortunate. I had hoped Hewitt would start to recover by now," Asher said unhappily. Of course, the man was old, so recovery was going to be slower if it happened at all, he thought. "We could talk to the hospital staff too, and see if any of them know anything about Aketi," he suggested. "As well as trying to send a message to an Aketi medic, like you said."

Starr nodded "Do you think the medics here will know anything about how to help him?" She asked worriedly.

"It's possible," Asher said, frowning. "I can't say for sure, the subject hasn't ever come up, but they are very knowledgeable. It might be worth talking to them about it, just in case."

Starr nodded and looked to him again "Can you talk to them? I can have a copy of the medical records sent to a doctor if you can find one that knows about them."

Asher nodded. "Would you like to come along? I'm sure we could get Vestia to send the information over, if we find someone."

Starr smiled then nodded "Sure" She said gently then tilted her head a little "Is there anything else you want to talk about before we go?"

Asher considered that. "I do have a question I want to ask you," he said, looking uncertain. "I know that I'm a prince of your people, because you adopted me. But I admit, I don't actually know if that means I'm supposed to be doing anything or not. If there are any rules I was supposed to know about, I'd like to know about them."
Maybe Nova had told him a little, but he probably hadn't asked her much about this. Frankly it made him a little nervous to talk about royalty stuff to someone who saw him as a prince.

Starr smiled softly at him and nodded "Basically, since you won't be able to take the thrown, you simply have to show up to formal occasions sometimes and act decently like you normally do. You don't have to show up to every one, just like one every year or two or like Luna's coronation when that time comes." She said and shrugged.

"All right, that makes sense," Asher said. Starr made it sound pretty simple, although the thought of being around important people was always daunting to him. "Do Star Dragons have formal occasions often?" he asked cautiously. If there were any coming up, it'd probably be good to know about them.

Starr thought about that then pulled up a calendar to show their festivals. "Our festivals are all that we have right now. That could change as time goes on though." She knew some of her people wanted to add a 'Freedom Festival' to celebrate becoming free again. "When we decide where we will live and have that place ready to inhabit, that will be a formal occasion."

"Okay, thank you. It's good to know about this sort of thing," Asher said, smiling a little. Was he a terrible prince because the idea of formal events made him nervous? Maybe. Oh well, at least he could tell himself his feelings were justifiable.
"Shall we go talk to the hospital staff about Hewitt now?" he asked. "I don't think I have any more questions at the moment." At least, he was pretty sure he didn't.

Starr chuckled and nodded again. "It is good to know about, but I am hoping to keep formal events to a minimum. Yes, let's go." She added as she stood and stretched. "Anytime you have questions, don't be afraid to ask."

"Thank you Starr," Asher told her, "I'm sure I'll have more questions at some point, there must be an awful lot I still need to learn." He smiled at Starr, and stood, heading to open the airlock so they could leave the shuttle.

Starr nodded and sighed "Yeah, there's so much to learn. Even I am still learning some new things." Of course her new things were secrets among certain of her people, but there was no need to get that technical.

"I can only imagine," Asher said. He just had to learn enough to not screw up and do something rude, but Starr had to learn enough to effectively rule millions of people. That was a big difference in what was expected of them.
He smiled at her, "I'm no expert of course, but I'm sure you're already doing a great job." Back when she'd owned his papers, she'd been as good an owner as anyone could be. So he had a lot of faith in Starr's ability to do the right thing.

Starr smiled and nodded "Everyone is saying I am doing well so far." She said then shrugged. "Of course learning is a lifetime profession." She added then chuckled softly as she headed out with Asher.

Asher smiled. "Very true. No matter how much we think we know, we should always try to keep learning." He closed the airlock behind them, and then headed with Starr toward the hospital.

Zara let Mourn lead the way off Vestia. When they were off the ship, she picked up her pace a little and looked at him so he could see what she was saying. "Have you been here before? I know where Engineering is."

Starr chuckled and nodded, walking with Asher to the hospital to ask if anyone there knew about Aketi biology.

Mourn glanced over at Zara, hesitated, then gestured she lead the way "You show." He demanded.

Asher went with Starr into the hospital, they'd probably try asking around to see if anyone knew about Aketi biology. Asher wasn't sure they were going to have any luck this far from Aketi space, but it was worth a try anyway.

Zara smiled a little, and led the way to Engineering.

There were probably a few people there, working on repairs, or discussing repairs. Nobody who immediately looked like a lens-making expert, but hey, looks could be deceiving. Or maybe someone here know somebody who was.

Mourn looked around curiously, spotted someone who didn't look too busy, or rather, wasn't currently talking to someone else and marched over.

"Looking for someone fix lenses." He demanded bluntly.

The woman Mourn had chosen was inspecting what appeared to be part of a control panel from a small ship. She looked up sharply at the interruption, then blinked at the sigh of Mourn. He really was an unusual looking guy, and eerily familiar somehow.
"You need someone to fix lenses?" she repeated. "What sort of lenses?"

Zara positioned herself so she Mourn and the woman carefully, but let Mourn do the talking. It was his project after all, even if she was really curious about it.

Mourn thrust the drone at the woman. "Hologram projectors, cameras." He told her, as if that should be enough information.

The woman took the drone and looked at its cameras and projector thoughtfully, then nodded and turned away to yell something to someone.

Zara winced a little. Her hearing aids were programmed not to over-amplify sound, but she still didn't enjoy people yelling. It was loud and almost always unintelligible.

An older guy across the room shouted something back, then excused himself from a conversation he'd been having, and headed over. "You're in the market for lenses?" he asked Mourn and Zara.

Mourn tilted his head, hopping from foot to foot impatiently. "yes yes, fix drone."

The woman handed the drone over to the older guy, who looked it over thoughtfully. "I can cut replacement lenses for these, I think. Have you taken measurements of the lenses already? If you haven't, I'll need to take them out to digitally scan them," he asked Mourn.
