Nova nodded and chuckled softly "That is the original plan." She replied then shrugged a little "The problem is where, since our space was taken over.

"True." Asher shook his head. "It's a complicated situation. I hope that a good solution will be found." He was sure Starr could find a way, Starr was good at figuring things out.

Nova nodded then shrugged "It is why she is using her friendships to house our people for now."

"Oh yes, the Mimosa Empire." Asher smiled softly. "They sound like good people."

"They are dragons, cousins in a way."Nova said then chuckled and shrugged

"Like an extended family. Are the different species actually related, or is it a coincidence?" Asher asked. In a way, the dragons were his family too now. He should know a little about them.

"They could be, but if they are that information was lost to history." Nova said with a shrug. "Our species have been friends for a long time either way, even if they are much more aggressive than we were."

Asher nodded. "Regardless of whether you share a common ancestry, it's always good to have more aggressive friends or allies, I suppose."

Nova chuckled and nodded "True, and we are more aggressive ourselves now."

"I'm glad for that. Your species have been good friends and allies to us, you guys deserve to be safe," Asher said.

Nova chuckled and nodded "Everyone does, or at the least to be free to make their own choices in this life."

JULY 30, 2790

The Terran Empire had sent Asher and Nova the news that the androids were being freed, and Asher had sent the information to the others on Vestia pretty much as soon as he'd received it. He read Kay's prompt reply, smiling softly, and wrote a brief note back thanking him for everything and saying he hoped to be home just as soon as a few last things were wrapped up on Terra.

That done, Asher had pocketed his tablet and carefully unpinned the badge from his shirt, tucking it carefully away in a drawer. He didn't feel the need to destroy the thing any more, he was just too happy to want to break things right now.

Freedom!

Yeah, the Terran Empire had been horrible to him, his family, and everyone like him. He had no reason to care what they thought, just as long as his people were safe. But still, their recognition meant the world to him for some reason. He was glad they were going to do the right thing, glad that they were going to apologize for their mistakes.

Maybe, just maybe, everything was going to be okay now.

For the first time in a long time, he started to let himself believe that the worst was over.

Nova was so happy to hear the news, now they could start being treated as people by everyone. That was wonderful. "What do you think will happen now? Will your people go to colonize a world and make it your own? Or will they stay where they are to work for real wages?"

Asher smiled at Nova. Well, he couldn't seem to stop smiling in general right now, anyway, but he was smiling at her specifically too. "I'm not sure what's going to happen. There's a planet where supposedly some Six series androids were sent to keep them safe. That'll need to be investigated. And then, who knows. Some androids might choose to stay here, others might choose to go to that world, if it's suitable for colonization. Or they'll do something else entirely. That's the beauty of it, being free gives you so many options."

"That it does, I was just thinking that if you had your own world you could make your own government and not have to live under Terran laws anymore." Nova said then shrugged a little.

"Yes, that's a good point. I'm sure there are a lot of androids who are going to want to leave the Terran Empire behind, so that may well happen," Asher said. He grinned. "I can't wait to see what they do with their freedom. I'm sure it'll be brilliant."

Nova grinned and nodded "Yes, I want to see what happens now too. Hopefully there are no murdering jerks around anymore."

"I suppose there will always be some people who will want to kill us," Asher said, frowning a little at the thought. "But now, at least they know that the law is on our side. And," he smiled grimly, "with Mourn's updated code, the androids will be able to defend themselves if they are attacked. Which, I think, will also be an excellent deterrent." An android who could fight back could be a pretty formidable opponent, after all, with all that robot strength and no sense of pain.

"True, hopefully they learn not to attack quickly." Nova said with a nod then she shook her head "Do you think there will be parties now?"

"Yes, the sooner they stop their violence, the better," Asher said. He smiled again, "Yes, I think everyone is going to be celebrating. Probably the official announcement will be rather celebratory, although there may also be a lot of apologizing going on."

Nova chuckled and nodded "Well, I guess I will have to stay 'on duty' for this, just to be safe."

Asher nodded. "For now we still have to stay serious, I guess. But you know, we can be happy too." He smiled at her, "We should talk to some reporters, I'm sure they've caught scent of the story by now."

Nova nodded and chuckled "Yeah, I guess we should." She agreed

"Let's do this, then." Asher headed for the airlock of the shuttle, feeling oddly naked without his badge. He'd thought he would never get used to wearing it again, but apparently he had. Go figure.
He pressed the button to open the airlock, trying to look composed. He felt so giddy and odd about all this.

Nova went with him of course, she was still his bodyguard after all. It may or may not be needed but until they were back on Vestia, it was what it was.

Asher was glad for Nova's presence as always. Even now, he was still a little paranoid that someone would want to kill him. Having almost been murdered once could do that.

He and Nova would head out to the many reporters who were starting to gather on the robot rights project property, and probably get to work telling the reporters information and giving opinions.

Asher was pretty happy today, so with Nova nearby and the good news on his mind, he didn't mind all the people and their questions.

Nova was happy to answer questions too, though as always she was careful with what she said to the reporters. She didn't want to be the one to release secrets especially since the secrets were not hers to tell.
