Upon Vestia: Chapter Twenty-Three

"You have a tablet at least, right?" Asher asked Dawn.

Ellie went to get the door for Matt. Doors looked so annoying, and annoying wasn't good. "Think James talked Asher into that race yet?" she joked.

"man, Asher won't race, he's too serious." Matt laughed. "he and Kay are perfect for each other, they're both workaholics who don't have time for fun." He made a face.

"Aww," Ellie looked disappointed. "He'd just scared of being beaten by an organic, I bet."

Matt snickered. "Man that'd be embarrassing wouldn't it?"

"Yeah! Just imagine, believing robots are superior, and then BOOM, a scrappy organic races past you and wins! It's like all the sports movies ever!" Ellie said.

Matt snorted. "You really think they think they're superior?"

"Well if I could lift like two hundred pounds and didn't need food, I'd feel pretty superior," Ellie said. "Wouldn't you?"

Matt grinned. "true, then again, they also can't feel anything, taste anything, smell anything... and can't do magic so... it evens out." He chuckled.

"Yeah, I guess that's true," Ellie nodded. She ruffled Matt's hair, "Touching things is awesome. So, wa'd'ya wanna do now? Any ideas?"

Matt laughed and batted at her with one hand.
"I dunno man, I mean we could go hang out on the holodeck or uh... we could go find out how wheelchair accessable this whole ship is. " He snickered. "we could go annoy someone. " He brightened "oh! We could watch a subtitled Imperium movie in the cinema, i'm sure you can figure out a way to hook up the tablet to that projector right? We can watch stuff on the big screen"

"Oh yeah, that'd be fun!" Ellie said. "The Imperium have some great movies, I just know it. We should invite some of the others to come watch with us, I bet they'd love it."

"yeah, let's make a day of it!" Matt nodded. "I think people could do with a distraction right? Let's get stuff sorted and then we can have Vestia summon people yeah? "

Ellie nodded. "Sounds good! Hey Vestia, can you get some snacks together while we set the movie up?"

"Okay," Vestia said, amused. She sent a bot to find snacks.

Ellie happily skipped along toward the theater, doubling back sometimes to make sure she didn't leave Matt behind.

Matt wheeled after her as well as he could, this was awkward and hurt his arms. He really wasn't used to having to use his arms to walk. Eugh.
Still, he tried to keep pace and not crash into things.

Ellie noticed Matt's discomfort after a bit. "Want me to push you?" she asked.

Matt shook his head. "nah nah, i'm fine. Just.. still gettng the hang of steering this damn thing. Man, other people make it look so easy."

"Well to be fair, most of them have been using wheelchairs longer than you have. Asher had a lot of trouble turning corners too at first," Ellie said. "Someday you'll be doing donuts like a maniac."

Matt grinned. "Well here's hoping." yeah honestly he was looking forward to being able to walk again, that'd be better.

They reached the theater.

"Okay, now we gotta figure out how to connect a phone to a projector," Ellie said. "This is gonna be haaaard."

Matt grinned. "you can do it Ellie, you like, find the thingie and plug it into the other thingie yeah?" okay, he wasn't good at the whole machines thing.

"It'll be easy." Ellie started fumbling around for a cable that would actually connect to her phone. "There are so many cables in here. Why do they need so many cables?!"

"Maybe they're compensating for something." Matt joked.

"Then that begs the question, who installed all these cables? I wanna knooooow!" Ellie burst into giggles.

Matt couldn't help laughing too, it was quite funny. "I dunno man, someone with a cable fetish."

"One of the mechanics, then. Rigel, maybe? Mourn? Asher? I don't think any of the girls are trying to compensate, but you never know..." Ellie found a cable that fit her phone, and plugged it in. "It fits!"

"Horah!" Matt cheered and clapped his hands. "hmm.. Mourn does like cables and machines... Asher's getting too much to start needing to compensate." He snickered. "Gross. and Rigel? Hmm, maybe? My money's on Mourn though. That guy gets waaaaay too excited about the idea of plugging stuff into androids, maybe it extends to all sockets." He started laughing again, that just sounded dirty in his mind.

"Mourn does have a thing about Vestia, too. You might be right." Ellie started trying to switch on the projector, but she was giggling too hard to find the button. "Yeah, Rigel acts too secure for it to be him. Robots have a sorta... obvious interest in wires too though..." More giggles. "But yeah, probably Mourn. He really has a thing about plugging into stuff."
