Satare Empire - Melanoc Lunar Colony

One of the central lunar colonies orbiting the vast, water world Satare.

A farming colony, what isn't walled farmland is dense forest and woodland.
There are 12 moons in the sky, though not all are visible at any one time and the enormous blue ball that is the planet.

Don't go out after dark, there are monsters in the woods.

"We only saw it in the hologram room before we came here." Danica said, looking out the window again "Living in a ship means we don't have any natural weather, only what Vestia can make or the hologram can pretend to show us."

"What is... Hologram?" Jarral asked.

Danica blinked and tilted her head at that question. "Um...it seems real, but it's not. It's a program the computer makes."

Jarral shook his head. "It is.. like an illusion then?"

"Yes, like an illusion" Danica said with a nod and a smile

Jarral rose to his feet. "You never see the sky then... like my people."

"Not the real one, no. Not until we got here" Danica said

"Does it frighten you?" Jarral asked.

Danica thought about that before shrugging "Not really, not as much as it scared James. Mom remembers a lot of different skies on different planets especially when she sleeps, so we see them."

Jarral frowned. "you see her memories?" Well that was novel.

"Sometimes, when she thinks about them" Danica said, looking at him then out to the rain. "Not when she's awake, unless her block is down"

"Can you see my thoughts?" Jarral asked, tilting his head curiously.

Danica looked at him and tilted her head then shook it "No, you have block"

Jarral nodded slowly. Well that was curious.

Danica tilted her head at his reaction"You didn't know? Maybe your fate-god does not want your thoughts known? Or just a natural block? I feel emotions better than hearing words." She offered the last quietly, looking to the window again.

Jarral shook his head. "it has never come up before." Kevali weren't telepathic by general rule. He brightened a little. "you are an empath?" That was a concept he COULD grasp. "My Lord it is said, can feel emotions from others. There are few among the people who can" He lowered his voice, looking sombre. "but those who do are often chosen by Fate for some great purpose. "

"It is something all star dragons can do, even before hatching." Danica said with a shrug. "Some are stronger than others, but all of us can feel emotions."

Thalia called everyone for breakfast from downstairs.

Jarral looked wistfully back at the window. "My elemental will not wake till I come of age. " He shook his head. "Is it strange? To feel what others feel?"

Danica looked to the stairs then stood up and held out a hand to help him up. She felt cool being in a big form like this. "What does that mean?"

Jarral rose to his feet, he didnt' take Danica's hand, he seemed to not quite understand the gesture.
"Which part?" He asked, unsure which part of that sentence had been unclear.

"Your elemental?" Danica asked, letting her hand drop. "It's not that strange to me, but it's something I have always been able to feel."

Jarral nodded. "Yes, every one of the People is born with two souls entwined as one. A mortal and an elemental. A fragment of our gods breathed into each and every one of us. It remains dormant till we come of age, the awakening of our elemental is the first sign that we are ready to begin apprenticeships and become adults. It is something we all look forward to, coming of age means learning a trade, to better serve the community" He paused, adding. "and we learn to work with our elemental, harnessing its power to help us."

Danica listened to him, curious about that. "You have two souls?"

Jarral nodded. "That is what we are taught, yes."

"How can you have two souls?" Danica asked even as she turned to head for the stairs. "Is it confusing to have two? Do they feel things differently?" She was curious now. "Wait, uncle Matt is like you, does he have two souls too?" She hadn't thought to find out before. "Uncle Matt stayed behind to fight, he is Thalia's husband and the father of her baby." She explained a little.

Jarral looked somewhat bewildered. "I do not know, I have never known any different. I feel like.. myself." He shook his head, trying to figure out who uncle Matt was. Kevali didn't tend to shorten names, so it didn't even occur to him that Matt and Mattias were the same person.
"As far as I am aware, all Kevali and Kalvair have a symbiote Elemental soul."
He followed her down the stairs.

Danica frowned but nodded, it was just like her and being an empath. "Ok, it's really different from what I know, but there's a lot I don't know yet."
