Upon Vestia: Chapter Sixteen

"All those aliens, always hyping up how great they are, and it always turns out to be a lie," James said sagely. "I'm not like that though, I mean I've been known to punch minotaurs. I'd be a proper villain, I wouldn't lose."
He watched as the guy went back into the train, "Ooooh nooooo. They so should not have done that. It is ON!"

Skye looked over to Vanessa also. "No, but you could ask Vestia, she can see more than we can." She said then looked to the camera before remembering to introduce Orel and Vanessa. "This is Vanessa, Vanessa, this is Orel."

Vanessa bowed slightly to Orel. "Well, I only recently received word of it. Unfortunately a new Caretaker seemed to have... misplaced it, much to the elder anmacara's frustrations. Mind you, as pretty as their kin are they can be quite dangerous if mishandled. If you do happen to see it, try not to glance directly into your reflection. It tends to have some unsavory effects. Many of us, volunteers and Caretakers are looking for it."

Orel nodded politely to Vanessa, "Good to meet you."

"Good to know, we'll be careful," Asher said.

Kay frowned. [Wait... ] He showed the tablet to her. [There's yet another potentially dangerous creature wandering around? How do you "misplace" something like that? ] how incompetent were these people? boars running around loose, butterflies with dangerous effects. How did more people not end up horribly maimed around this place? [What exactly does it do to people Vanessa?] He looked stern. [No vagueness this time, I mean exactly and precisely what does it do?]

Asher looked sheepish. Kay always ended up asking the questions he was too cowardly to ask himself. He needed to practice actually speaking up more, ugh.

"I agree, the Guild does seem to be running a little chicken-legged to what I'm used to. From what I hear it was a trainee, though. And I can't speak for that Keeper, he was always incompetent, that one..." Vanessa sounded slightly disgusted.

"Hey!" Shock shouted indignantly as he passed by with something stuffed in his mouth, but didn't stop to chat as he wandered off again.

Vanessa shook her head before nodding at Kay. "They're called Medusa Flies, though more so dubbed 'Miseries' as their memories they produced are quite so. Looking directly into your reflection will vividly recall your most regrettable action or event in your pastime. Some people are petrified by their own guilt or grief and need to be forced to look away by an outside source to escape it. I feel sorry for the poor fool to let THAT one escape... Wonder how many stalls they'll have to clean out..."

Meanwhile, Vestia had two newcomers, one was the fox girl. The other, one of Mandeep's nurses.

"Whoa whoa whoa," Vestia told the newcomers, "You gotta state your name and business before you come in." Geez, no respect for the ship here!

Both the nurse and the fox girl jump. Before looking at each other. "Did Mister Matt specify she was a bio-ship?" The vixen whispered.

"I think he did... We forgot..." The nurse sounded equally sheepish.

"Sorry, sorry!" the fox suddenly waved in embarrassment at the camera as the Chi-Ji statue in her staff jingled. "We were looking for Mister Matt."

"That sounds really bad" Skye said, shivering a little at the thought of her worst memory being brought up clearly. Nope, she did not want to relive that, ever.

[And this thing is now loose on this ship? A ship full of people with rather unpleasant pasts? ] Of course it was. He looked to Skye and Orel [Or do you have absolutely no idea where it might be?] He asked Vanessa. [Do you perhaps know where it isn't? So we can start gathering people in a safe zone until the thing is located and contained? ]

"He's out at the moment, in the capitol somewhere, I think." Vestia's relaxed a bit at the apology. She was a bit on edge from all the danger lately, okay? "You can leave him a message with me, or go looking for him," she said.

"We are searching, that's why I came to warn you. Currently everyone at the Capitol and on Manifest is being warned." Vanessa said sagely. "It's only been fifteen minutes since its apparent disappearance. It shouldn't take long to find it."

"Oh, he's out? We should leave a message then. Hate to bother him." the fox girl hummed a bit. "Tell him the nurses said Mister Mandeep is awake and healthy again! He said he wanted to know, yes?"

"I'll tell him when he comes back," Vestia said. "I'm sure he'll be excited to know."

Skye frowned and looked to Vanessa again then around. "Maybe we should help look, since magic doesn't work on Artuvians?"

Kay nodded. [Vestia, can you confirm the ship is free of this... butterfly.] Kay asked the nearest camera. He nodded to Skye's idea, it was a good one.

"On it," Vestia told Kay. She began methodically checking for anything unusual, hoping she wasn't about to get hit by the thing herself.

"Can you make sure Moone is alright?" Skye asked softly, worried for her soster.

Kay nodded. [Vestia, gather everyone onboard into one place. There's safety in numbers. Make sure everyone is aware of this creature and not to look directly at it. ]

"Yes sir," Vestia said. She broadcast to everyone on board, "Passengers, please find someone to stay near. If you see a butterfly with mirrored wings, DO NOT LOOK AT IT. It has the ability to show you something that you regret the most, and we've been told the effects can be devastating. If someone gets stuck, try to snap them out of it but NOT AT THE RISK OF YOURSELF."
She closed the airlock for good measure. If it was out, it would stay out hopefully.
She also checked on Moone.

Moone looked up at the announcement, frowning and going to close the door, just in case.

"Moone's okay," Vestia told Skye.

"Thank you." Skye said and sighed softly, glad of that. She looked back to Orel again, looked like they weren't going flying after all.

Kay frowned, he looked annoyed and worried.
[Come in] He indicated the nearest room. [better to stay in rooms than wander the halls until this thing is found. ]

Asher nodded in agreement, and stood aside for the others to go in first.

Orel looked at Skye with a smile. Oh boy, stuck in a room with some medics and an anamcara. Oh well, good time to learn about people, huh?

Ethan was in the library by himself. He rolled his eyes at the announcement, but went to close the library door. Then he sat down to read his book again.

Bianca had no regrets. She just went about her life as usual.

Skye sighed and looked to Orel before heading in the room. "Something always happens." She muttered

Kay looked to Skye and nodded, he looked equally as annoyed and sick of this.

Mourn rolled over and ignored vestia.

Orel quietly went into the room. He didn't know what to say, man.

Asher went in after everyone else did, and shut the door. "Well, here we are." He looked around to see what sort of a room they were in.
