Upon Vestia: Chapter Sixteen

"All those aliens, always hyping up how great they are, and it always turns out to be a lie," James said sagely. "I'm not like that though, I mean I've been known to punch minotaurs. I'd be a proper villain, I wouldn't lose."
He watched as the guy went back into the train, "Ooooh nooooo. They so should not have done that. It is ON!"

Starr shook her head at that question "I haven't given myself time to think of names yet." She replied. Not good of her, but the truth.

Ellie went and hugged Matt pretty hard. "Okay, I won't pry any more. I'm here for you, buddy, you know that right?"

"I guess that means you get to see what names fit their personalities first," Asher said with a smile. "There's nothing wrong with that."

Starr chuckled and nodded "You find the bright side when I do something wrong." She said then shook her head a little and watched the eggs. The boy would knock off a piece of his shell before the one on the right started to crack too

Asher shrugged, looking amused. "All things considered, I don't think they're going to mind much a few years from now." Oooh, two eggs cracking now. This was getting exciting.

Matt hugged her back with one arm, still holding the mop with the other. "ow... you got a ferocious hug you know that?" He teased and nodded. "I know."

"It's a ferocious hug because my feelings are ferocious," Ellie said. Her mind was still running through possibilities as to why Matt was acting so weird, but she didn't ask him any questions, as promised. "Maybe you should go sit in a swimming pool?"
Thalia had better not be bullying Matt, yeesh.

Matt actually smiled properly this time. "I dunno, there's a few actual lakes and rivers out there which are way more exciting to sulk in." He joked. He didn't much want to go sit underwater with his thoughts though, he didn't much want to think. "You guys got plans for the day yet?"

Starr chuckled and went back to humming to the eggs happily.

The boy grew still, resting for a moment before he would try again. The girl in the other cracked egg was working on catching up now.

"No plans yet," Ellie said, "I'm open to suggestions if you have any!" She tried to not look like she was wondering about Thalia.

Asher didn't hum along because he felt kind of self conscious about humming, but he did murmur encouragement to the eggs, figuring that might be good too.

Matt shrugged. "I gotta mop most of the floors first. People keep tracking dirt in from the asteroid on their shoes. After that though, I dunno. I considered seeing if there's anything new to learn at the schools but then I remember that I hate school." He chuckled. "i'm like... the worst student ever."

Starr smiled as she hummed, watching and waiting for the two active ones to finish hatching out so she could hold and feed them with the supplies she had brought to her room. She glanced to the camera, knowing Vestia had to be watching this too.

Ellie smiled at that. "Sorry about the dirt, some of that was probably me." She shook her head, "Asteroids, man. Yeah, school is the worst. So hard to focus!"

Vestia tilted her camera slightly in acknowledgement of Starr's look. Yeah, she was so spying on this!

"right? and it's all pay attention, don't chat back." Matt laughed. "okay truthfully I have never actually BEEN to school. We all got home schooled and my foster mother was a mean teacher. I had to go stand in the corner and think about what i'd done aaaaall the time." He snickered, clearly he found it amusing. "always a rebel." He kept mopping. "Don't worry about it, short of forcing everyone to take their shoes off before they come in, there's not much I can do. Besides, gives me actual work to do. I don't... actually mind mopping. It's kinda mindless, you can just zone out. "

When the boy finally was able to get out, it was all at once, pushing the shell away then looking at them as he stood on the bottom piece. He squeaked at them both before stretching his neck out towards Starr. for her to pick him up.

"Eeew homeschooling," Ellie said with a laugh. "I sooo couldn't have handled that. I mean the other kids at school were dumb and the teachers were annoying, but better than having your parents teach you!" She shook her head, "School is the worst."

Okay, that was adorable. Asher sat back and watched the baby dragon. He already knew who his mother was! And walked. Asher decided that this sort of baby was much more pleasant to be around than the bipedal kind.

Matt chuckled. "Yeah, well I was the annoying one who asked dumb questions. And then me and Kay would pass notes or whisper or he'd make snide remarks telepathically and i'd laugh and Olin would get mad at us." He grinned. "But it's not... like we could really go to regular school." He looked awkward.

Ellie nodded. "True. Guess that wasn't really an option." She giggled at the image of such a tiny class goofing off. "Man, you guys must have been terrible students."

Starr chuckled and reached over to hold the baby close, cooing to him then turning to get the food for him. He had to eat and rest so he could grow strong.

Asher kept an eye on the other two eggs while Starr took care of the first dragon.

"we were the worst." Matt agreed. "well except Esk. I don't remember him ever saying much, he just sorta... got on with the work." He frowned, man, he really didn't remember. So much of their childhood they'd just sorta... forgotten their youngest brother was there. He felt a pang of guilt at that. "Believe it or not, he was really really quiet." Which of course hadn't helped his brothers just filter him out of their perception. He kept to himself, he didn't talk much, he'd just been in the background. "She used to set us work sheets, oh man, we hated those worksheets. And then the rest of the time we were helping around the house and grounds. You know, tending the animals, gardening, fixing stuff. I preferred weeding the gardens to those worksheets. Kay preferred the work sheets, he said at least you didn't ache all over after doing maths." Matt laughed. "I still hate maths."

"Yeah, Esk doesn't seem like the sort of guy who would talk much," Ellie said. "Sounds tiring. Dumb weeding, I never liked it much even before the plants complained at me."

The egg on the left still hadn't moved, though the girl hatching was working her way out...awkwardly. She had managed to get a wing free, though her head was still stuck for the moment.

"Come on, you can do it," Asher told the little hatchling encouragingly. "Just push the shell open, and then you'll be out."

"What do they moan about?" Matt asked curiously. "do the weeds yell about you pulling them out?"

"Yeah, they would. Thankfully Hydroponics doesn't have weeds, but I heard some weeds being pulled a couple days ago at one of the Guild gardens, and it was pretty awful." Ellie shuddered a bit. "But mostly they just want water and light and shade and food. Which is okay," she added.

The girl struggled a little, flapping her wing as she did and making the egg tip before the shell gave way and spilled her out of it's confines.

Asher moved to pick up the baby dragon since Starr's hands were full at the moment, then hesitated. "They don't imprint, do they?" he asked. He didn't really want to accidentally become a full time dad, okay?
