Upon Vestia: Chapter Sixteen

"All those aliens, always hyping up how great they are, and it always turns out to be a lie," James said sagely. "I'm not like that though, I mean I've been known to punch minotaurs. I'd be a proper villain, I wouldn't lose."
He watched as the guy went back into the train, "Ooooh nooooo. They so should not have done that. It is ON!"

Vestia watched in silence from the holodeck ceiling camera, not entirely sure what Dawn was doing, but figuring that if Dawn wanted to talk to her, she would. For now, she just waited to see what Dawn was going to do.

Dawn watched her family walk along, starting to sing a song she remembered her mother singing to her. The program responded by having the woman sing along, since it was a song traditionally sung by females. When it concluded, Dawn sat and watched the family walk away before hiding her face against her arms as they rested on her knees.

Aww, poor Dawn. Vestia watched the girl with sympathy, not wanting to take this moment from her by interrupting.

After her uncle and his wife passed by, Dawn ended that program and switched to a view of one of the planet's parks, a giant waterfall that was a really popular attraction for her people. She sat on a bench there, just watching it, apparently lost in thought.

Luka smiled, waved to James and snuggled down into bed. Yes, she felt a lot better than she had. Watching movies together had been a great idea.

Vestia just waited for Dawn, there if she was needed, but not interrupting.

Eventually Dawn looked around and ended the program, giving the camera a small smile before heading for her room again. "Don't worry, I'm not going to go and get drunk again"

"You're allowed to if you want, you're an adult," Vestia told her gently. "Are you all right?"

"I guess so" Dawn said and shrugged, laying on her bed when she reached it. "It is a chance to say goodbye anyway."

Vestia's lights tinted the room a warm orange hue. "Yeah, that makes sense."

Dawn chuckled and looked at the orange colored lights. "What is the orange color for?"

"Emotion," Vestia said, "I started doing it because Mourn can't hear my voice so I had no way to communicate emotion to him. That one's a warm emotion."

Dawn smiled at that, a real smile this time. "I like that"

"It's a good use of RGB lighting," Vestia chuckled. "Is there anything I can get you? I have a few bots free."

Dawn chuckled softly. "Not really." She answered softly.

"Okay, guess I'll leave you alone then?" Vestia said.

"You don't have to, unless you want to." Dawn said, looking back to the camera again. "I like talking to you."

The lights turned a bit pink. "In that case, I'll stick around," Vestia said. "What do you want to talk about?"

Dawn shrugged and made a tiny twister in her hand, playing with the wind. "I don't know." She said then glanced around again. "How do you like this place?"

Vestia laughed. "I thought you meant me for a moment," she said, "You mean the Guild though, I'm guessing? I like it pretty well, the disinfecting they did when I landed felt so good."

Dawn smiled at that and nodded. "Yeah, the guild. I bet that did feel good to get all that space dust off."

"I also like that I didn't end up infected by those space leeches," Vestia said, "That was nice. What about you, have you gone to any spas here? I recommend it highly."

Dawn tilted her head at that and shook her head. "No, I haven't. I may later on."

"I recommend it highly. It makes you feel happy and lazy," Vestia said. "What sort of things have you been doing? I know you've done some classes, but I'm sure you've been looking around elsewhere too. I've been talking to the other ships."

Dawn shook her head. "No, just the classes and the library really. What do the other ships say?"

"Oh, you know, the usual," Vestia said vaguely, "'God, your paint color is so last summer', 'Did you try basking in the sun when you visited Omicron Perseii 8?', 'You're really six hundred? You don't look a day over three hundred!'" The ship might be exaggerating, it wasn't especially easy to tell.

Dawn chuckled, enjoying the banter even if it was fake.
