Swarm's three parts all rejoined, relaying everything instantly.
They buzzed worriedly.

Kay hurried to the medical room to gather up the scanning equipment, they'd need to compare it to Mourn's previous scans to see what had changed.

"I think people in pastimes were a little too chivalrous to write something like that." Saraphine said.

Flora looked up at one of Vestia's cameras, "It appears one of your crew members is in a bind..."

(I have lost track of where everyone is now. Ooops? ROLL CALL!)

(Sara, Flora are on the ship. Along with Lilian, John, Sonata, Vanessa and the kids.

MY secondary characters are out and about. Merith is obvs in prison.

Ethan shrugged, "Don't idolize the past, they were just as fucked up then as they are now, just in different ways."

Vestia's camera tilted to Starr and Flora, "This isn't good. Mourn's been deaf for as long as he can remember," she said quietly.

James looked scared.

Asher headed after Kay to the med bay to set Mourn down on a bed.

Starr nodded and looked to the others there before heading for the medical room incase she was needed "Does anyone know where Sawna is?" The other girl might be needed

"Sawna and Matt left the gardens together, we did not follow them." Swarm told Starr rather... unhelpfully. "They mentioned fishing, but we do not know where they now are. We could not find them."

Kay frowned. [If they aren't back in a few hours, send a search party out. ] He set to work scanning Mourn and bringing up his old scans that were in the computer system to compare. He shared these with Asher.

His brain scans were startling, all those areas of damage and dead tissue seemed to have regenerated. The region of his brain previously completely unresponsive was now showing activity and the implants plugged into it also seemed to be active.
[It looks as though the coclear implant itself was never faulty, it was the brain damage done to him when it was implanted, and the subsequent attempts to fix it and bridge the damaged tissue only made things worse. Now though, it's all active and lighting up. By all I can see, he should be able to hear. His audio cortex is responding, but we have no real way of knowing how that implant is interacting with it. I don't entirely understand what it was supposed to do in the first place. ] Kay frowned deeply.

[That's not all that's healed either, there's signs of rapid tissue growth around his other implants, particularly his arm.] He indicated that, where metal and flesh had fused quite elegantly as one.

Kay looked worried. [It would be unethical to suggest we try to reverse this, but at the same time, suddenly being given a sense you have not had or adjusted to process with no warning and without your consent... well, I don't have to explain that to you Asher. I don't know how, or even IF he can adapt but i'm concerned he may continue to try to harm himself once he wakes up. ] He chewed his lip and admitted desperately [ I don't know what to do.] this was NOT his area of expertise. He was a triage nurse, he dealt with injuries, and Mourn was in no way injured. Quite the opposite.
[Physically, there's absolutely nothing wrong with him. He's in... incredible health. Psychologically however, there's just no way to know.]

Armin frowned. "Is there anything you can do?" He asked Flora.

Asher nodded. "This is a very unusual situation," he agreed quietly. "Since Mourn seems to be fine--more than fine--I suggest we find somewhere extremely quiet for him to wake up, and then explain the situation to him, so he can decide how to proceed from here." He sighed, "We may need to restrain him so he won't immediately start trying to hurt himself again. Of course, that won't go over well at all."

Kay nodded and tried to usher everyone else out. This wasn't a damn meeting room.
[He trusts you, more importantly he actually likes you. ] Asher was substantially better at this sort of thing than Kay was. He went to the drawers and found the IV sedatives just in case. [James, Asher, stay with him, get him somewhere secluded and quiet and try to keep him calm. ] He gave the sedatives to Asher. [I'll keep everyone else away as best I can. And see if I can come up with any options to help ease this transition for him.] Yeah he had no idea where to even start. [I should.. also probably deal with this.] He held up his hand, it didn't hurt that badly but it was best to get it cleaned and properly dressed.

Asher nodded. "Yes, see if you can find any information in the database, I'm sure there's documentation on helping a patient transition to hearing." Although usually the patent would have chosen the operation, not had it happen accidentally, hmm. He took the sedatives, "Thank you. James, can you move Mourn?"

James went to pick up the sleeping felid. "Aye aye, Captain, lead the way."

Asher lead them out of the med bay, heading for somewhere nice and quiet. This... should be interesting.

Kay nodded, looking grim and looked to Starr to remove the magic she'd put on his hand so he could actually dress it.
Swarm lingered uncertainly. Kay ushered them away.

He'll adapt, he'll be fine. He really wanted to believe that.

Swarm bobbed up and down and scattered. Yes, a few would follow James and Asher, they weren't about to not keep an eye on Mourn.

Starr nodded and handed him a cloth to cover the wound before taking the spell off. "I hope he will be alright."

Kay nodded So do I, it must be quite a shock to the system. Asher's been through similar, he's really the most qualified to help him through this. He set to work disinfecting and dressing the scratches. Who the heck knew what was under Mourn's claws, eugh.

Asher lead the way to a nice room that had never been claimed for anyone, and James set Mourn on the bed so he could wake up eventually. "Remember, no talking," Asher told James quietly, "Writing, or just move your lips."

"I'm not stupid," James mouthed at him.

Asher smiled softly.

James looked up at Swarm and waved.

Starr nodded then sighed softly. "It will be a shock, but there is not much that can be done about it now either." She did not like feeling useless like this.

The few teeny insects buzzed and then fell silent, settling on the walls to watch.

Eventually Mourn would wake, stirring fitfully then jerking upright with a hiss and a growl, which scared him. He grabbed his head.

Kay nodded. I don't think any of us expected THIS to happen. Magic does have a way of complicating things. He shook his head

Starr nodded and sighed "It does at times, but other times it could be all that saves you." She said softly

Asher had set down the sedatives out of the way, deciding the sight of something so medical looking would scare Mourn further. He came over to Mourn slowly so as not to startle him, and waited to see if Mourn would look at him before saying without turning on the audio of his voice, "It's okay, you're safe. I recommend not speaking right now."

Mourn stared at the two androids in terror and grabbed at the implant in his head. "Hurts... " He winced and sobbed. He couldn't NOT talk, but he wanted the high pitched whining noise to stop.

Asher came over to Mourn, still not moving suddenly. Mourn was such a danger to himself and the androids, and maybe even Swarm right now, they couldn't afford to freak him out any further. "Don't touch it," he said silently, "We'll fix this. I'm good with electronics, remember?" It was pretty obvious that they needed to get the implant at least temporarily disabled, for the sake of Mourn's sanity.

Mourn nodded slowly, and very very reluctantly lowered his hand. He was shaking.

Well he was willing to listen to reason, that was a good sign. Asher came over to look at the microphone and transmitter. He hadn't studied them extremely closely during his research for Mourn's upgraded processor, but he had the basic idea of how they worked. "I can disable the transmitter, which should make the pain stop," he told Mourn, still silently. "I left my screwdriver at home today, do you have one I can use?"
Can't bring random tools and weapons into the Guild, that would just be begging for trouble.

Mourn stared at him, then nodded and indicated the front pocket of the coveralls he wore. He winced, hand moving back up to claw at his ear irritably. Every sound was being channeled through this thing as just NOISE, and his other ear was picking up the tiniest whirr and the sound of people moving but his brain had no idea how to begin to decode that information, so it was rather like white noise to him, annoying white noise.

Asher smiled reassuringly, and after a bit of searching, got the screwdriver from the pocket. "Okay, this is going to be loud for a bit, please try to not hurt yourself or me," he told Mourn, still silently.

James couldn't see what Asher was saying from where he was, and probably couldn't have read Asher's lips anyway. Bah.
