Upon Vestia: Chapter Twelve

"Yep, all alone on a desert planet with a weird bird." Ellie scowled, "False gods. So gross. I hope all immortals die soon." She paused, "Umm, well, I hope the immortals I like stick around for a while longer though."

Vanessa pursed her lips, obviously pondering something, "Is that so...?"

"That might have come out wrong?" Ellie said after a few seconds. She counted on her fingers, "I want the Family to die ASAP. I want the immortals who are okay people to stick around until they're sick of this life thing," she counted a third finger, "And I want my immortal friends to stay alive especially."

Shane smiled and shook his head "Yeah, I like that list." He said after a moment,

Vanessa seemed to contemplate that, as if she were considering Ellie's words. "Well, that is a blunt way to put it." She smiled, "But I see your point."

Ellie nodded. "In case you weren't sure, all the immortals on Vestia fall into the last category."

[Once people believed the sunrise and sunset were just magic, I don't know. Magic is baffling but i'm certain it makes sense to those who've studied it and live and breathe it.] Kay lead the way to the medlab and went to find a needle and test tube.
[If you succeed in this, the amount of lives that could be saved. Nobody would ever have to watch their loved ones go mad and die in agony. ] He shook his head, trying to mask the pain on his own face.
[I'll need you to hold a few things while I do this, taking your own blood is a bit awkward.] He sat down and prepped the equipment.

Matt headed into the dining hall and waved to everyone, holding his head with his other hand.

"This is heavy conversation for this time of the morning." He remarked, going to get himself some food.

Mourn was sitting in the corner silently, tapping away at his computer while he munched on his own breakfast. He was ignoring everyone and thus oblivious to the conversation, he glanced up as new people walked in, and went back to coding.

Ellie waved at Matt, smiling. "Hey buddy, how's your brain this morning?"

"Hurts." Matt told Ellie as he piled his plate with stuff. "Fox dude got me painkillers though. He's my new hero."

Ellie wrinkled her nose, but nodded. "Be careful around Third, he totally made me into a ghost one time and it was freaky."

"A ghost? dude could you like go through walls and screw with people? " Matt grinned and settled down. "Eh, he's gonna help me do my work for a bit."

"I didn't test it, I was too busy freaking out about not being able to vibrate my vocal cords or feel anything," she said seriously.

"That sounds a bit freaky." Matt started eating, talking between mouthfuls. "It's okay, if he tries anything i'll smack him with a mop. So, how you feeling? You need painkillers? I got a whole bottle of em."

"It is hard to explain" Starr agreed and moved to help Kay as he asked.

Shane listened to Ellie and Matt talk as he finished his breakfast.

[Humour me.] Kay wrote, setting his tablet down so he could roll up his sleeve. He was right, it was awkward to take your own blood. He had Starr hold the vial and help him with the tourniquet because there was no way he was tying or untying that without help.
He carefully took a blood sample with Starr's assistance and held a cotton pad to his arm till the blood stopped and he could stick a plaster over it.

Starr now had a vial of Kay's infected blood. He looked at it warily. [Be very careful with it Starr, this disease is extremely contagious.]

"So freaky. If he starts cackling like a maniac, get as far away from him as you can," Ellie said. She grinned, "I'm feeling fairly good now. Kay gave me some good painkillers."

Matt snickered, wincing at the movement. Oww. "Yeah, he's not annoyed with you. Lucky. He's such a mean little brother."

Starr nodded and looked to Kay "I will be very careful with this. I do not want anyone else here hurt" She said then wrapped the vial in a bubble to insure nothing would happen to it. "Do you need anything before I go and get to work on this?"

Kay looked worried as he tidied thing away carefully. [I'd like you to keep me informed every step of the way. I know I don't understand a lot about magic, but i'd feel better knowing what you were doing and the theory behind it. We'll also need a safe way to test it, what is your intention there?]

"He's such a nice guy. I used to think he was scary and mean, but ninety percent of the time he isn't," Ellie said.

Matt scoffed. "He's totally scary and mean, but mostly to me. Jerk." He smiled, clearly he wasn't totally serious.

Starr frowned a little as she thought about it "Well, for one, I need to put this blood in several small vials, keep one as it is for a reference then try different spells on the others. I do like using the scientific process when I can for this, it does help."

Kay nodded. [Do you need anything from here? Like vials.]

Asher stopped lazing about the shuttles and read Vestia's impressive shopping list off his tablet. He was going to need to transport a lot of stuff, far more than any one person could carry, which meant hiring a grocery delivery transport crew, most likely, which was expensive. Darn.
Unless...

He got directions from Vestia, and went to the galley to find Matt.

Third had followed in behind Matt, not meeting Vanessa's eye, who merely shook her head, grabbed a breakfast crepe plate, and left. The lack of presence caused the fox to relax a bit, and he tilted his head slightly at Ellie, "Well? After this week I'm sure we could demonstrate to Matt about how you became a ghost." He grinned again.
