Upon Vestia: Chapter Thirty-Four

"We could stay here and see if Vestia can start getting some movies on file for us." Shane said with a shrug.

Ellie considered that, then nodded. "Maybe we should do that. I mean, her internet still is kind of slow."
Vestia's antennas had mostly been fixed up, but they still didn't seem to be interested in transmitting at full speed. Something probably needed replacing still.

Shane nodded and looked around for a camera "What do you think Vestia?"

"I can try to find you guys something, I'm sure you know your tastes better than I do, but we'll see what I can do," Vestia said.

"Thanks Vestia!" Ellie said cheerfully. She reached out to ruffle Shane's hair, "We'll have to go movie hunting later too, though."

"Apparently it's acceptable if there's a girl in the middle." Esk shook his head, he didn't want to think too hard about it thanks.
"It's amazing really, you'd think they'd be too exhausted for anything but sleep and yet..." He sighed. "Some people huh?"

Armin looked sad and followed Starr.

Matt was in the first class bar, pouring cocktails.

James laughed. "Oh man, the logic of it. So as long as they can pretend they're only there for the person of the opposite sex, the Imperium thinks it's okay? That's amazing. Guess someone had to think up a loophole somehow." James did love it when people found ways around the rules, yep.
He nodded, "It's impressive how much energy people can have for sex. Like... seriously guys, don't you have anything better to do right now?"

"Thanks Vestia" Shane said and smiled happily.

Starr would head up to see Matt with Armin. "Matt? How are you?" She asked kindly

"No problem," Vestia said.

Ellie smiled at Shane, and went to sit down on a patch of grass near the goat pen. The grass fluttered a little, responding to her presence.

Shane smiled and went over to sit beside her, taking a baby goat with him so they could pet and play with it.

Ellie reached out to pet the goat, gently scratching behind its ears. "You know, I never thought someday I'd be sitting in the grass on a giant cruise ship, petting a baby goat with my star dragon boyfriend," she mused. "Pretty crazy, really."

Shane chuckled softly "Yeah, life certainly went a different way than I thought it would." He said as he pet the goat.

"There are things I didn't like, but mostly I'm happy with how things turned out," Ellie said. If she didn't count the nightmares about people mangled by explosions, and the pain of having her parents be ten years older, things were pretty good.

Shane nodded "Yeah, I like how it ended up." He said and smiled softly at her.

Ellie nodded. "Once we have our nieces and nephew back, it'll be even better."

"Yeah, the new kids help with that, but I still miss the first kids." Shane agreed.

"The first kids are our family, so they're special that way. Although the new kids are adorable too," Ellie agreed. "I'm so curious to meet Matt's daughter though! I wonder if she looks like him or not."

"I would like to see her too." Shane agreed. "She must be a cutie."

"If she looks anything like Matt, she has to be," Ellie agreed. "Do you think she has fangs? Fangs are cool."

Shane shrugged and smiled "Maybe we can convince Matt to ask for a photo or something?"

"That'd be nice, maybe it would cheer him up." Ellie frowned a little. "He's been kind of avoiding us lately though, I'm not sure if he'd even be okay with us bringing the idea up." They'd barely seen him since he'd spent that night with Eva. Heck, Ellie and Shane probably hadn't even heard about that hookup with Eva yet.

Matt shrugged, staring at Starr and Armin. To be honest he hadn't expected THOSE two to check up on him. "this isn't an intervention right?" He sounded suspicious.

Esk shrugged. "Fuck knows. But we're not really good judges. I mean you can't feel anything and have no sex drive and I can't touch anyone without killing them." He looked away. "it's not like either of us can or want to engage in random casual sex right?" This conversation was getting wierd. "looks like Kay's given up on you." He observed, changing the subject.

"True enough. I just find it so funny." James liked creativity, it was totally something he admired. He got at his tablet to make sure they hadn't missed any messages. "Yeah, I guess he has. I should probably go back soon, check in on the patients, make sure he's not bullying Tori." He was pretty sure Tori would be on duty now. He hoped she was standing up for herself.

"Is an intervention needed?" Starr asked, coming over to take a seat near him. "Have you spoke to your daughter yet?"

Shane frowned and nodded "Yeah, he kind of just vanished on us before.

"We should probably give him space I guess," Ellie said thoughtfully. "But like, not too much space." She looked thoughtful. "It's too bad he's allergic to basically everything, cause I always bought my friends ice cream when they had breakups. It's a good food to eat while you're miserable."

Shane smiled softly "Yeah, so I've heard. Maybe we could think of something to do for him."
