Upon Vestia: Chapter Twenty-One

Luka made a face. "gross. Computer, regular clothes please." She looked relieved as the gown disappeared and she was just in her usual cargo pants and vest. "Who should we go annoy then?"

"uh.. a coffee, no milk... sugar.. and whatever muffin you have." Luka told Sawna. "thank you."

Matt held up the tablets. "We got you guys a stash of tablets." He declared, thrusting one into Asher's hands. "Uh.. we... figured a while back that you guys kept losing them so we should like... have a backup"

Sawna nodded and got the asked for items tehn brought them over to the three. "Here you are."

"Many thanks!" Tala told Sawna, happily picking up greens from her salad to eat.

James watched smugly.

Asher took the tablet, looking startled. Being given things always confused him a bit and made him a little nervous, but it was nice too. "Thank you," he said after a moment, "it was very kind of you to do this." He smiled at Matt and Ellie.

"thank you." Luka dropped some coins into Sawna's hand and sipped her coffee, adding a little more sugar.

"There's a whole cupboard full of them." Matt grinned. "But that doesn't mean you should start using them as coasters okay? "

Asher chuckled. "That would be a waste of tablets," he said. "A whole cupboard full? That's impressive."

Ellie grinned. "Well we didn't want to waste our time buying just one or two."

Sawna smiled and went back to the counter, watching her cafe and cleaning the counters.

"Yeah, we like.. figured they'd always be useful and as they're Kay's primary way of communicating with half the people here, a bit essential right?" Matt shrugged. "Shane helped too."

"Did you attend the festival?" Tala asked Sawna.

Asher nodded. "They're certainly going to be useful, there's no doubt about that. I'll be sure to thank Shane too."

Matt nodded. "I'm hanging onto a couple, just in case." Which was probably also Shane's idea, he was full of sensible ideas.
"Kay's still sleeping I take it?"

Sawna chuckled and nodded "Yes, it was very entertaining. I stayed all night"

"Aren't you tired?" Luka asked.

Sawna chuckled and shook her head "No, I am usually up all night anyway, I am a nocturnal being."

"Yeah but... surely you have to sleep some time right?" Luka reasoned, she didn't understand aliens, they just bewildered her.

Asher nodded. "I think Kay's still asleep," he said. "I haven't checked, but I'm assuming."

"Poor guy, being infected is hard work," Ellie said with sympathy.

"Maybe blood is like coffee," James suggested.

Sawna chuckled at that and shook her head "It could be considered like coffee I guess, and I do get some sleep, but my people don't need a lot of sleep like most organics. A couple of hours is enough and that can be broken up in naps through the day or night."

"Convenient." Luka nodded. The idea of drinking blood was gross, but short naps and being able to function? Awesome.

Matt looked grim. "you have no idea..."

Sawna nodded and chuckled lightly again "Yes, it is. It gives us much time to study and learn more of our surroundings."

"Thank goodness i have no idea," Ellie said. She was so glad she'd been cured of lycanthropy before it could start killing her.

Asher nodded. "Thank goodness." All the grief Kay's disease had caused him, at least it hadn't been spread to anyone else. He tried to lighten the mood again, "Anyway, I'll tell Kay you guys got these tablets. I'm sure he'll be very grateful too."

"That's awesome," James said.

Matt nodded. "Oh.. and Sonata's got the kids but we're gonna go get em again and we might not give them back." He snickered. "they're cute."

Luka ate her cake and nodded. Maybe not awesome, but interesting and useful.

Sawna smiled again, glad to have them here.

Asher laughed. "Thank you for looking after them. I hope you'll let us borrow them sometime, we're fond of them too."

"Maybe someday, but they're just so sweet," Ellie said.

James judgementally watched everyone eat. Heh.

Matt snickered. "We'll consider visitation rights."

Luka made a face at James and savored her cake.

Asher feigned a sad look. "Well I hope you take very good care of them. You can be sure I'll be negotiating my hardest to see them more though."

Ellie reached up to pat him on the shoulder. "We'll spoil them rotten, and you know it. Say hi to Kay for me, okay?"

Asher smiled. It was nice to not be hated by Ellie any more. "Will do. Do you two need anything while you're here?"

James smirked at Luka. He might have looked a bit jealous though, he wanted cake!

Matt shook his head. "no... though.. might be an idea to pencil in for Dawn to see Thalia." He flinched, eugh.. But the medics were right, thalia needed to see a doctor.

Luka smirked at James. If he was going to stare, she was going to make a big deal out of eating. HAH

Asher smiled softly. "Very good. I'll give her the request when I see her next."

Luka laughed. "You look so judgemental!"

Matt nodded and backed out of the room. "thanks.."

"I'm being racist," James said, "You're supposed to be offended." He was joking, he didn't actually want to offend anyone, just be mildly annoying.

Ellie followed Matt out.

"Amy time." Asher watched them go, smiling. He liked Matt, and he was starting to like Ellie. They were nice.
He took the tablet to his desk to set up. Yay, tablets!
