Vavaren

Vavaren is a richly forested planet with large bodies of water. It's cold, not cold enough for snow but cold enough for frost to form overnight. The oxygen levels are high.

There are no mammals, only lizards, insects, arachnids and some birds. Everything is huge.
Their oceans are populated by giant squids, immense fish and various other enormous and terrifying creatures of the deep.

The Vavare have built large webbed communes in the trees.

Visitors are not common, Vavare tend to do most of their business off world but those who visit are welcomed warmly.

Ships will dock at a small simple space port which is surrounded by their capital "city", if you can call it that.
It looks more like a vast marketplace.

Visitors are advised to wear rebreathers when leaving their ship, dress warm and to avoid any flames, sparks or static buildup.

Kay shook his head at James. He had to help Asher, they couldn't just leave him at the bottom of a damn lake. Who knew if he was okay or not?
He stripped off his coat and shoes, took the rope and waded into the water. It was FREEZING. he shuddered, tied the rope around his own waist and swam out to approximately where Asher had landed.
The water was so cold, and extremely dark. He wasn't sure he'd even be able to see anything down there, but he took one last look back at the shore, looked up at the hawk girls, took a deep breath and dove under the surface.

James waited, pacing along the shore, now terrified for both his brother AND Kay.

Asher was surprised to not be offline yet. Maybe he really did fear water more than he should.
Then he felt something moving in the water somewhere nearby, and promptly remembered that water was a terrifying thing that he hated. Oh, this was awful. He couldn't see anything.

Kay really couldn't see much down here, it was so dark. He groped desperately in the inky blackness for something, anything that might be Asher.

The Vavare held the end of the rope and waited anxiously.

Asher tried to decide whether to risk drawing the attention of any water creatures that might attack on not. If this was a friend, they would need help to find him down here. If it wasn't... bad things might happen.
"Help!" he finally called, the sound muffled badly by the water. It was worth the risk, right?

Kay could only hold his breath so long though. He had to come back up for air, gasping and sputtering. He caught his breath and dove down again. This time he heard sound, he reached out toward it.

Asher felt something touch him, and he after a moment concluded that it was someone's--probably Kay's--hand. He reached out, hoping Kay had brought a rope or something, because no way was Kay going to be able to swim him back to the surface.

Kay squeezed asher's hand gratefully and fumbled to untie the rope. He was here and he was conscious, that was good. He hastily pressed the rope into Asher's hands, hesitating a moment to make sure he had it before kicking off and back up to the surface for air.

Asher grabbed onto the rope tightly and began using it as a guide to head for land. The mud was seriously thick and hard to move through, but he might as well try, at least.

James was watching for Kay, pacing frantically.

Kay burst to the surface, coughing and spitting lake water. Ew. He raised one hand to give them a thumbs up, Asher had the rope and started to swim back to shore.

The spiders started to pull the rope to try to help haul Asher out, hopefully with him walking forward and them pulling he could get through all the mud and back to the shallows.

James yelled with relief, hurried over to Kay. Poor guy looked pretty awful, but hey, he had helped Asher, so that was great!

Asher would struggle to the lake's shallows, helped by the vavare and their rope. He would make it to the surface, looking fairly gross and lake water-y, and limping a bit, but otherwise thankfully okay.

Kay dragged himself to shore and collapsed to his hands and knees, coughing. He was covered in gross lake gloop and shivering.

Armin sighed in relief. "My dear friends, I am so relieved you are alright."

Viti looked Asher up and down, decided he was probably fine and went to help Kay, wrapping his dry coat around him and helping him to his feet.

"Come, we will get inside. Dry you both off, get you warm again." She told them. She looked up at the hawk girls. "You come too, I will make tea."

Skye and Moone came over to land nearby, glad that Asher and Kay were safe now. Both girls had gotten wet from when Asher hit the water, but were proud of themselves for making sure he didn't get hurt from falling too fast. They glanced over to the giant hawk/ "What will happen to the hawk?"

Asher took a few moments to spit out the water that had gotten in his mouth when he called for help, then went over to Kay to see if he was all right, a bit slowly thanks to his limp. The hawk must have bent something when it picked him up. He was just grateful it hadn't torn his skin.

James went to help him walk, because it looked like the vavare were doing a good job helping Kay.

Viti looked at the hawk and frowned, it wasn't moving. "It will die." She told the hawks simply.

The other two spiders went to fish the dead aphid out of the water with their nets.

Kay smiled softly at Asher, pulling himself out of Viti's grip to hug him tightly. He was so relieved he was okay. Alright limping, but alive and mostly okay. Kay just looked tired. But at least his nose had stopped bleeding and the filthy water had washed most of it from his face.

Viti frowned. "You are hurt." She told Asher simply.

Asher's skin was still cold from the lake, but he hugged Kay anyway. "Thank you for coming after me," he said gratefully. "Are you all right?"
"I'll be fine," Asher said to Viti. "I can repair myself, and until I do, it doesn't hurt at least." He smiled softly.

James was still hanging onto Kay's tablet. He wasn't sure if it was water resistant or not.

Kay had left his mask on the shore when he'd stripped off his coat and shoes and so on to dive in. This meant he had actually breathed in an awful lot of oxygen and seemed well, a little out of it.
He was shivering badly, teeth chattering but he didn't seem to totally notice as he clung to the soaking wet and freezing cold android. Him being so clingy was in itself very unusual, especially as they were on the ground.

Armin frowned. "His mask!" He went to grab it up off the ground while his cousin hauled the dead Aphid up onto his own back to carry.

Asher turned up his heating system, bringing his body back up to temperature as quickly as possible, hoping to warm Kay up. He smiled gratefully at Armin as he brought the mask over.

Kay stared at Armin as he helped him get his mask back on. Kay didn't seem overly enthused about wearing it again.

"It will be alright." Armin assured him, blinking and frowning at the sudden babbling telepathy in his head. Kay had completely lost the ability to stop himself just projecting anything and everything and his thoughts weren't overly coherent.

"He will be alright soon, just ... a little nauseated and chaotic.. " Armin told Asher. "It will pass. I hope."
Yeah he wasn't a medic, he was a tailor. He was mostly guessing based on what little he knew about oxygen saturation.

"Get him back to the web. " Farhde said. "I have to get the stupid aphids back into their pens."

"I will call your brothers to help you." Viti told him. "Your fathers should be home soon, they can deal with the dead one."

Farhde nodded and hefted the body over to his mother, she slung it easily over her back.
"Come, we will get you both dried off." Vita extended her free hand to Asher to help him walk.

"He should be fine," Asher agreed, "Once he's warmed up and not quite so overdosed on oxygen." He looked at Kay thoughtfully, better to have James help him for the walk to the vavares' place, probably. James was dry and warm, and also not limping. "James, could you help Kay?"

James nodded. "Come on, Kay, you can walk with me. I'm like a portable heater, it'll be great."

Kay looked like he was silent laughing, but it was hard to tell with the shivering.

"Is there any way to stop him babbling?" Viti asked.

"I do not believe so Auntie, sorry." Armin told her, glancing back at them and wincing a little at the noise in his own head.

Kay reached out a hand to James, blinking the spots out of his eyes.

James looked confused.

"He's probably telepathically projecting. It should stop as he recovers from the effects of the oxygen," Asher explained.

James gripped Kay's hand firmly, and turned up his own heater. "Come on, let's get going. Feel free to cling to me, man, we just don't want you getting hypothermia."

Asher would accept Viti's help to walk. He really was a bit unsteady with this limp, and he very much appreciated her help.

"You are immune then?" Armin asked curiously. "Fortunate, it is highly distracting."

Viti snorted and lead them all back to the web.

Kay did as he was told and did indeed cling to James, he was lovely and toasty waaaarm yaaay.

Armin laughed at something and shook his head.

Viti dumped the dead Aphid down to one side of the stairs and looked at Asher, then back at the stairs. "Shall I carry you?" She asked.

"Definitely immune. Sometimes it's very inconvenient, but it has its uses," Asher said. He looked at the stairs, and sighed. Yeah, he probably wasn't going to be able to get up those very effectively. "Yes please, I think that would be for the best." Pride was for people who hadn't just been dropped in a lake, right?

James would help Kay up the stairs, probably half-carrying him because he was so very loopy.

Kay was so loopy, way too loopy to let his usual pride get in the way. He couldn't stop soundlessly giggling and kept batting at things only he could see.

Viti nodded and hauled Asher up, helping him onto her back because that was going to make everything easier on her. "hold on." she told him as she headed up the stairs.

Armin frowned, worried for his friends and feeling rather guilty that he'd brought them here and gotten them hurt. He followed the others with his head bowed.

James was slightly concerned by Kay's antics, but they were kind of funny too, and Asher said Kay would be all right. He forced himself to not look amused.

Asher held onto Viti tightly, and looked around at Armin, who looked like the image of vavare guilt. Awww, poor guy. "It's okay," he said gently, "We're fine." Well, the aphid wasn't, but that probably wasn't what Armin was worrying about.

Skye and Moone followed the rest of the group quietly to then up the stairs. They were worried for Kay, though only Moone could hear the babble telepathically.

"I think I will go back to Vestia to clean up and check on the chicks" She said after a few steps, before simply disappearing from view.

Armin bowed his head to Asher. "Luck has smiled upon us, it could have been a lot worse." He conceded.

Once they were upstairs Viti would help Asher down by crouching so he could slide off her back and bustle off to go get blankets and towels and dry clothes.
Of course, since Vavare didn't wear pants this meant long tunics that would fall to about knee length. But they were dry and clean, so a better option than soaking wet mud soaked stuff right?
She also brought out a little hot plate sort of thing and set to work heating some tea for the organic guests.
They didn't use flames, for rather obvious reasons. A lot of oxygen in the air plus the general flammability of spiderweb made fire a generally bad idea. Instead their heating systems used chemical, flameless heating elements. A small bit of water added to a powder in the bottom of the device.
While that bubbled away she told Asher and Kay to get changed.
