Vavaren

Vavaren is a richly forested planet with large bodies of water. It's cold, not cold enough for snow but cold enough for frost to form overnight. The oxygen levels are high.

There are no mammals, only lizards, insects, arachnids and some birds. Everything is huge.
Their oceans are populated by giant squids, immense fish and various other enormous and terrifying creatures of the deep.

The Vavare have built large webbed communes in the trees.

Visitors are not common, Vavare tend to do most of their business off world but those who visit are welcomed warmly.

Ships will dock at a small simple space port which is surrounded by their capital "city", if you can call it that.
It looks more like a vast marketplace.

Visitors are advised to wear rebreathers when leaving their ship, dress warm and to avoid any flames, sparks or static buildup.

Asher smiled at the one who was probably Fardhe, "I think we're all feeling better, thank you."

"Get the Flerafut will you." Viti sighed.

"Of course mother." All three of them rushed off to go do that.

Viti shook her head. "Clearly it takes three of them to handle one insect." she muttered to herself.

Armin looked amused.

Shortly the millipede was lead back.

"Safe journey to you" One of the males told the group.

All three of them gathered around Armin to hug him. Clearly Vavare were quite tactile people. Armin laughed and kissed each of them on the forehead, then did the same for his aunt who lowered her head so he could reach.

"I will see you this evening." He promised them before moving to help everyone onto the giant millipede.

Skye moved back enough to fly up and sit on the creature then held out a hand to help Kay, this way she wouldn't be under him with his less than covering clothing and she wouldn't have to be helped up.

James helped Asher onto the giant insect, then climbed up as well.

Kay looked up gratefully at Skye, tugged his well.. let's face it, skirt, down and climbed up with her help.

Once everyone was seated Armin would take his position near the head of the insect, reigns in his hands.

Some more of the family of spiders gathered together to bid them goodbye. Three males, or.. maybe young females, it was hard to tell, and two more females obvious only because of their size. They waved.

Skye waved to the spider people as they were finally settled to go back to the ship. She was glad to have met these spider people, even if it hadn't been in a normal way.

Armin glanced back. "Everyone holding on? ready?" He grinned, made a clicking noise and tugged the reigns. The millipede set off back to the city.

Vestia had better not laugh, Asher thought grumpily.

They got back to the stable where the millipede had come from, which meant, oh fun, a trek across the city back to vestia. Armin seemed to realise this was probably the last thing Asher and Kay wanted, and wasn't convinced Asher could walk that far anyway so urged the creature on. They plunged into the darkness under the city platforms.

Kay shivered and pulled his coat closer around himself. It was way too cold and out of the sunlight it was absolutely freezing.

James kind of liked how enclosed this area was. His temperature sensors said the organics were probably pretty uncomfortable, but hey, at least hawks couldn't get down here.

Asher was seriously worried about Kay, who was absolutely not dressed for the weather. He resolved to make Vestia bring Kay soup and blankets in large quantities when they got back.

"Maybe Kay should be between James and Asher, so they can keep him warm" Skye suggested after they left the sunlight. Her own wings were close to her sides to keep her body heat up

"Can you move or you need me to stop?" Armin called back.

Kay drew his legs up. now wasn't the time for stubborn pride, he knew that, but damnit, being this vulnerable was irritating and humiliating. Maybe he should just become a cat, though that would make hanging onto the millipede a little awkward.

Asher looked at Kay worriedly. Could Kay move without falling off the insect? He wasn't sure.

Kay raised a hand and Armin nodded, tugging the reigns and making that clicking sound again so the millipede stopped moving.

"Everyone shuffle then." He looked back at them. "One to each organic biped perhaps?" The artruven looked cold too.

Kay looked to Asher, shivering. Trying to decide if cuddling up together or just turning into something with fur and a better ability to keep warm was the better option here. Cuddling up was less painful at least.

Skye flushed a little "I'll be alright" She said quietly though she was cold. She at least was more used to it from flying high where it could get colder than this.

James smiled at Skye. "Whatever you prefer. I'm totally still in heater mode though, perfect for keeping people from freezing."

Skye looked down at her hands in her lap then shrugged "It would be kind of hard with my wings" She said after a moment, unless she sat sideways or something.

Kay looked amused at James and Skye, she looked so uncomfortable about the idea. It would be a little embarrassing to cuddle up to someone you barely knew.

"Excellent" Armin smiled.

Kay made his way very carefully to where Asher was, it wasn't that high off the ground thankfully, but he still didn't much want to fall, it would hurt.

"Fair enough," James said cheerfully. Skye didn't look like she was about to freeze, anyway.

Asher held onto the millipede with one hand, and put his other arm around Kay, making sure he wouldn't fall.

Kay smiled apologetically at Asher, if it wasn't for the audience he'd actually rather like cuddling up like this but... yeah.. years of social conditioning were difficult to shake.

Armin waited patiently for everyone to be settled again. "good to go? yes? not far now."

Asher looked apologetic as well. He knew Kay wasn't into this at all. But Kay needed to stay warm, so here they were anyway. "Good to go," he said.

Skye nodded and drew her wings closer to her sides without looking up.

Armin clicked his jaw again and off they went. It was a rapid and efficient way to travel really, but the deeper under the city they got, the damper and colder it became.
Kay couldn't help but cuddle into Asher for warmth, shivering badly.

Eventually they broke out into the sunshine again. Kay closed his eyes against the sudden light.

Soon they'd be back to the space port, the millipede didn't seem to be very happy to be here. It was loud, there were a lot of people milling about and there wasn't much vegetation to chew on.
Armin stopped the creature and would help everyone down.

"I will return her to her owner now, I hope your repairs go well." He told Asher, bowing his head to all four of them.

Kay hopped down and tugged the tunic down again. Yep, he would never ever get used to wearing skirts. How did girls do this? He felt so exposed. The quicker they could return to the ship the better, for a nice hot shower and pants.

"Thank you, Armin," Asher said gratefully. He managed to dismount from the millipede without any embarrassing clothing mishaps, and let James steady him as they headed back toward Vestia.

Sonata shrugged, "Perhaps we can ask these questions when we get there. As much as Merith and Vanessa are scare of their own fates traveling to there, they must have incredible trust in the Guild's integrity to be willing to sacrifice their lives for the sake of the crew. Who knows, if you ask them these questions, they might very well already know the answer."

She swirled her drink again, looking down at it with an almost unusual smile, "No one is ever good for the sake of being good, huh...?"

Her smile broadened slightly as she turned her gaze up to the clouds. "I must say, Esk, you are... quite the character."

"Sacrificing their lives? Sure they aren't just suicidal? there's a lot of that going around lately." Esk shrugged, making a sort of huffing noise at her remark about his character. "Did you actually want something?" He snapped grumpily.
