Upon Silver Devil: Chapter Three

[I can't say i've ever seen him drunk actually. I haven't seen him in nearly ten years.] Hmm that'd be interesting. [He got tall.] He smiled oddly, trying to make light of what was clearly pretty awkward and difficult.

James overheard Luka talking to the ship once or twice, but he knew that was kind of to be expected, so he didn't tease her. He did smile a bit though the times he overheard it, it was cute.

"We have water enough and we should wash clothes today!" Tala called.

Dawn chuckled at that call and looked up from her book "Should we?" She asked teasingly. She did kind of miss the teasing from Acus, but there wasn't anything they could do about that.

"Soon you will all begin to smell of bodily odors, which is terrible indeed. Better to prevent such things with all haste," Tala said sensibly. "You will also enjoy the godliness of cleanliness."

"Speak for yourself!" James called, "Some of us don't sweat!"

Dawn chuckled and got up to take her tablet to her room and get her clothes to wash them

"Laundry day isn't the same without loud complaining about bras." Esk called back. Yeah there weren't many places in this ship you couldn't hear Tala.

"It was most amusing because many of us had no bra!" Tala said. "There were times when one wondered if we should not all wear bras in protest of his complaints!"

James cackled at the idea of Tala wearing a bra, and brought over his clothes to be washed, even though he thought they probably didn't need it.

Esk came in. "Not happening, not even to piss of sexist assholes." He didn't really own much clothing, but he would do some washing anyway just so what little he had was clean... ish. He shook his head. "Why was he so freaked out by them anyway?" I mean come on, they were just padded fabric things. "it's like being freaked out by shirts, or socks. It's fucking wierd."

"I dunno," James said, lobbing his clothes into the dark and light laundry piles. "It's not like avian girls even need bras anyway since they aren't mammals, so I don't really get why they freaked him out. Maybe he just hated anything associated with femininity, he really was pretty sexist."

Tala nodded. "Who knows? He was a most strange bird man, and he had many eccentricities." She kinda missed him, he'd been entertaining.

"That an Avian thing or just him?" Esk asked dully. Hey, for all he knew all avians were assholes.
As he didnt' own anything that wasn't black or some other really dark colour, he only had one pile. Not that he cared about splitting stuff anyway.

Dawn chuckled and shook her head as she seperated her laundry

"I have no idea. I never met Silv or went to Avia," James said. "Maybe all avians are just really sexist, who knows."

"Silv was most tolerable," Tala said cheerfully. "She cooked me many vegetarian meals before she left us to consort with slavers."

Esk grunted, he didn't like being reminded of that. "So that's all it takes to get you to like someone? Vegetarian cooking?"

"Good cooking allows one to overlook many faults," Tala said. "It is hard to dislike someone when they feed you well."

James started loading the washing machine with light colored clothes, because that meant Esk had to wait longer, ha.

Esk looked faintly bemused. "you're a weird woman Tala."

"He was good in his own way, he just had a thing about females." Dawn said and shook her head.

"At least he did not pay us less for our accursed femininity," Tala agreed with Dawn.
"I am not weird Esk, do not be silly."

"A thing?" Esk snorted. "Right." He looked back to Tala and smirked. "hey, if he'd tried that i'm pretty sure the lieutenant would have broken his arm and kept breaking things till he changed his mind. "

"Yes, he would have found his ability to discriminate most ineffective against us," Tala said, pleased. "We are not to be walked over lightly."

James started the laundry. "And he only paid me an allowance. Discrimination!"

Dawn chuckled and shook her head, finding a place to sit.

Esk shrugged. "least you got paid." He'd only gotten put on the pay role once Vicky had left. "maybe you'd get more if you ever DID anything James." he smirked at the android.

"I'm doing the laundry!" James protested, "And I do inventory management! I get paid better than you now, I bet!"
Who knew if he did or not. Vestia didn't seem to release that information publicly.

Rigel stood in the doorway, listening to them banter back and forth.

Esk snickered. "Yeah, of course, you're working super hard. Look at you go."

James made a face at Esk and leaned against the washing machine. "I make an honest living, don't you go laughing at me."

"But you make it so easy." Esk reasoned.

James gestured rudely at Esk with one finger.

Tala wiggled her ears. "This is why so many bulls of fine body and good wealth go without a mate. They are simply too poor to temperament to be tolerated."

"So your'e saying you turned to women because guys were too rude?" Esk scoffed.
