General

Avians are a race created by the first Female Creator of the light they are ironically enough base on the coloring and feathering of terran chickens. With human-like torsos and bird legs and feet, both male and female are flat chested being true avian in appearance and biology. While their legs all the way to their shanks are feathered they also have feathery hair that can vary in length and texture, they can even style it like human hair in many aspect.

Their facial structure vary on each type and location they hail from on the planet itself, but what is the same for all is the big round bird like eyes. Their iris colors come in shades of browns, greys, red, and green. Blue eyes and red are linked to albinism which only happen within one out of 10,000 Avians. Their skin color on normal can be from normal African tones to European shades, unless they are of the Black Blood lineages which are different from the others due to a genetic mutation called fibromelanosis. Everything black minus their blood and eggs.

Biology

Avians are humanoid bird like species, to the point they in fact lay eggs and reproduction system is like that of a bird. Due to that reason they cannot be bred to mammals unless they can shapeshift*. If civil fowl they mate in pairs for life, having up to twenty eggs within one female life cycle that hatches they do not struggle to reproduce. At best most civil females will hatch out four eggs within their life time unless they come from farming which means they would hatch out more to help the farm. Females control breeding cycles even though Civil Fowl are a patriarch society, once bonded with a male they normally become broody within a year their desire to have chicks being shown to their more aggressive desire to mate. A female will then create a nest to keep which ever amount of eggs she chooses to brood on to help keep them warm. A brooding cycle is up to 60 days with chicks hatching with the ability to walk and follow the mother within a few days. Chickhood lasts up to the age of 10 of which they would have this soft downy where their feathers would grown in, at this stage they are highly dependent on their mother who would be highly protective of them.

In this period of time mating would not happen, which for the Avian species in a whole for the most part isn't a issue as it isn't seen as a tool for pleasure. That isn't always the case of course. From the ages 10-15 their first set of feathers will grown in, deem the teen years this is also when vessels** powers are noted to develop. From ages 15-20 they grown their adult plume.Within Civil society they are seen as adult by age 20.

While development is the same for wild fowl there are a few different cultural difference that has over the centuries given their goddess a headache. First of all Wild fowl mate preferences vary, while the jungle flocks normally take one or two females, while the dessert flocks have been known to have a family flock of six hens to each rooster. Most flocks in the wild don't recognize hatchlings as adults until 25 after a rite of passage ceremony. Within each tribe it does vary on the social standing on either matron or patron life style but like Civil no matter what the female control the hatch cycle.

Normal born avian normally live up to 100 years, but vessel avians (please read religion for more info) been known to live up to 250-300 years.

Culture

Civil fowl are highly advance, being winners of a decade long civil war they have thrived without their goddess. Massive cities are appearing throughout the planet that are more model after the Civil way. Within their culture themselves they are less superstitious and believe wholly in modesty even though their bodies cannot be sexualize like mammalian types. Females are still seen as lesser and are struggling to have equal rights, minus those who go into the priesthood***. Males have moved pasted the concept of fighting for power or flock ranking instead they take normal jobs, there is no royalty within Civil culture instead one votes for who they desire to represent their city or in some cases town collective. Military within the civil view is both seen as a annoyance and a much needed thing, those who serve are given mix response, some respect them others hate them. Due to this view the draft is still within order and all have to serve for two years.

Wild fowl are on the otherside of the coin, their cultures so diverse compare to the Civil they have been banned, many flocks keep it going in secret. For all jungle tribes they are warriors, both male and female minus a few select working classes. They pride themselves in their tattoos of their blood flock and of their tribe. For that reason Civil fowl have banned the art but many wild fowl do it anyway since the return of their Goddess. Like previously stated Jungle flocks have small family flocks, normally no more then two female per male things are passed through the mother family line no matter how many females are within the family flock. Normally all children gain the highest female ranking title, so for example if a male marries the tribal leader sister, then marries a lesser female the lesser female hatchlings will have all the rights and honors of being the royal tribe blood even if only by marriage.

If one was to go to the dessert tribes all titles are earned by the male family flock line, having up to six hens per rooster they instead pierce their bodies with perhaps a couple of tattoos depending on of they border the jungle. While females are viewed to be only hidden from view they are respected among their tribe, seen as healers they rarely become fighters but it is allowed if the need arises.

Both wild fowl tribe types allows arrange marriage and alliance marriages, but Civil banished it and are known to purposely remove brides if that happen. None allow child brides.

While slavery is not allowed some wild fowl tribe have what is called a 'blood oath', only given if their life is saved they are loyal to their saver till death. Due to the abuse of the oath after the civil war many tribes have stopped it for fear in destruction.

Religion

Both Wild and Civil**** fowl worship the Female light creator, they respect her judgement but fell appart at her kidnapping 50 years ago. With her return they both struggle to build back the priesthood that had dwindled.

Only about ten percent of the Avian ever become priests, all of them known as 'vessels' these avians are gifted by their goddess as powerhouse of magic, able to do abilities that rival the keepers themselves but they have more control and weaknesses. All vessels around the age of ten to fifteen are taken to the temples to be taught control of their abilities, and at age 18 are given the choice to join the priesthood. Many do and most live their lift out within the temple. They are allowed to have mates but due to their duties while they may live twice as long as a normal avian they haves less children in their lifetime. If a vessel mates with a vessel with hatchling will be a vessel. Now if a vessel mates with shapeshifter like a Keeper their children are different, highly powerful they appear mostly Avian but with mammelian inner biology.
