Upon Vestia: Chapter Nine

Thaila winced, "I...uhm dont remember much but that maaay of been me." He said sheepishly, "Sorry.."

"Yeah, they're gone. Otherwise I wouldn't be allowed out." Matt rolled his eyes. "Kay totally told me to go get drunk though, so we should do that. Well... you can have beer still right? "

"Yeah, I can have beer." Shane said and smiled at them both.

Ellie cheered and lead the way toward the ramp. "We can poke our heads in some weird shops too, and bury one of us in sand."

"Then let's go get as wasted as our respective species can get without risking alchohol poisoning!" Matt declared. "and oo weird shops?"

"I wanna buy Vestia a present," Ellie said, "Maybe one of those gross smelling deodorizers you can hang from the rearview mirror."

“Asher? I think I need your help,” said Vestia.

The android looked up at her camera, smiling wryly. “Are you trying to distract me from the fact that I’m confined to the ship?”

“The only thing keeping you here is your pride,” Vestia pointed out, “Those badges are just pieces of plastic, geez.”

He gave her a disgruntled look. They were not just harmless pieces of plastic, as far as he was concerned.

Vestia sighed. Silly robot. “Anyway. I’m hiring some guys to set up a new room, as a holiday present for all of you, and I need someone to be there to make sure everything goes okay. You know all my wiring and you’re stuck here anyway, so can you help?”

Asher looked interested. “What are you planning to add?”

“An Advanced Virtual Reality Room,” Vestia said smugly, “You guys are getting a holodeck.”

Asher had heard of those before. They were expensive, and not many technicians were licensed to install them. “How are you affording that?”

“Anonymous wealthy donor,” Vestia said vaguely.

“All right then,” the android gave her an amused look. “I’ll be happy to help you out.”

A few hours later, the technicians arrived and the room would be fully, secretly, installed with Asher and Vestia's careful supervision, and Asher's technical assistance. Vestia would start downloading a ton of programs for it. She was looking forward to seeing what people would do with this thing...

Starr returned with Armin and Kay, leading the former to the medical bay so he could be looked over.

Ellie would reach Vestia, wheezing slightly. Vestia guided her to the sickbay, where Starr was. "Starr, we have more bad news," she said.

"What is it Ellie?" Starr asked, looking to her then to the spider guy and back

"Matthew and his buddies did something with magic, and they made a mini star!" Ellie gasped, leaning against the wall to catch her breath.

Kay would scan the spider boy who looked around the medical room in fascination.
He folded his hands over one another and bowed his head politely to Ellie as she burst in.

Kay frowned at Ellie, indicating she should elaborate.

Matt peered in "Something about Star dragon arcana? "

"Star Dragon stuff," Ellie gasped. "A mini star, okay?" She noticed the spider guy finally, "Dude, it's a spider."

"A mini star...on a planet?" Starr asked then sighed and shook her head "That could have been a disaster"

"Well nobody ever said slavers were actually intelligent," Ellie said. "How likely is it that the mini star will turn into a black hole and kill us all?"

"It depends on how steady he made it and what they are using to contain it" Starr replied then shrugged and moved back to shift to her true form and try to see what she could find out about the star and if it was dangerous to the planet where they were

Starr's sixth sense would not pick up anything amiss. Nothing was unstable or off putting.

Starr sighed softly and looked back to Ellie, returning to her angel form then shrugging "He must have it contained properly, I cannot sense anything but the planet."

"I swear we haven't started drinking yet," Ellie said. She pointed at Kay, "He can totally test."

Kay waved a hand, no, he believed them. They weren't slurring their words and they didn't stink of booze yet.

Armin tilted his head at Ellie and bowed his head graciously. "Greetings to you friend." He spoke pleasantly through that breathing mask.

Kay studied the scanner readouts and shrugged. Nope, he had no clue. Arachnid biology just was too different and weird.

"You're kinda cute, for a giant spider," Ellie told Armin. She looked at Matt, "Yo, can you go check on Shane and make sure they haven't eaten him? You can teleport, right?"

Matt nodded. "Yeah.. he was meant to be behind us... " He sighed. "I'll be right back." He stepped backwards and disappeared.

Armin looked unsure of how to respond to that, but he bowed his head. "Thank you. But I am not a spider, I am Vavare. My name is Armin Den-Skadare."

[I think you're alright, but honestly I can't tell. There's no obvious damage but i'm pretty much clueless on your species' biology.]
Kay wrote.

Armin nodded. "I will let you know if I feel at all unwell my friend."

[Some gang was after him, news of those slavers being here seems to have spread around the less savory parts of town. I suggest you stick to the well lit tourist areas, avoid any dark alleys and don't travel alone.] Kay told Ellie.

"Oh, okay. You're still kinda cute."
She grinned at Kay, "Nobody would bother me, I'm too terrifying."

Starr smiled at Ellie, glad the Terran was able to joke still.

Kay looked amused. [That you are Ellie, that you are. ]

Armin looked bewildered. "You do not seem terrifying, you seem perfectly pleasant. Are you a shape changer as well?" He asked curiously.

Ellie shook her head. "Just human. I'm a very dangerous one though, when provoked." She looked at him curiously, "What's with the mask?"

"That is so he can breath" Starr said, smiling and finding a seat since they were apparently having a 'conference' here
