Starr's Shuttle, Pegasus

"You're right, it's probably better to ask him to write something," Asher said thoughtfully. "We can see what he wants to do." Mourn was a little crazy, but he was smart. Whatever he decided to do, he probably be sensible. Asher hoped.

"I'll let you guys contact him, then. I have to talk to the press a bit," Dr. Martin said.

Nova dipped her head in a nod then looked back to Asher. "Where do you want to go? I can let Starr know immediately without having to send a signal that could be traced." She offered.

Dr. Martin would head back to the reporters.

Asher nodded. "That sounds sensible. We should make sure to remind him of a few things to keep in mind if he says anything. Possibly we should go back to the shuttle briefly, so you can tell me what's going on without being overheard." It really was a pain to not have telepathy sometimes.

"I am not sure if she will reply right now." Nova said with a shrug.

Asher nodded. "You can try to ask her, see what she's doing at the moment. If she's busy or asleep, we can always send a message to Mourn some other way."

(Do we want to time-desync Vestia, or should we pause this thread until she catches up in time? I'd like to know which option sounds better to you guys!)

Asher and Nova would head into the shuttle so Nova could try to communicate with Starr. "This is such a risky idea," Asher said quietly. "If you get in touch with Starr, please make sure she tells Mourn not to encourage violence. And please tell him not to mention that I'm free."

Nova nodded and closed the ramp so no one could see in once they were inside. She took a seat and closed her eyes to try to contact Starr

Asher would wait quietly. He had no clue what it was like to speak to someone telepathically, much less to contact someone who was so far away. So he was going to be as quiet as possible so he wasn't a distraction.

Nova sighed and looked to Asher "Starr went to speak to Mourn." She informed him gently.

Asher smiled. "This is both terrifying, and exciting. Mostly terrifying." Mourn was kind of... unpredictable. And opinionated. Hmm.

Nova chuckled softly and nodded "It is exciting and a bit scary. No one knows what Mourn will say or do next."

Asher nodded in agreement. He'd wait for Nova to relay what was happening, trying not to fidget. He trusted Starr and Nova to keep Mourn from doing anything really bad if Mourn did agree to make some sort of statement, but Mourn was still slightly nuts, and there were lots of lives on the line here. So yikes.

"Starr is talking to Mourn, he has agreed to what you said before." Nova said with a smile.

"Thank you. I should probably write something to Mourn before he does anything, just to make sure we're all on the same page," Asher said. He tried to smile self-deprecatingly, but he just looked nervous. "There's just so much at stake. My peace of mind will be better if I talk to him too."

"Starr is going to let us speak to him through us." Nova said.

"How does that work?" Asher asked hesitantly. He really didn't know what sort of communication magic the star dragons were capable of.

"She relays information to me and I relay it to you, and the reverse." Nova replied.

"Okay," Asher said. This was a little weird, but hey, he could handle weird. And it was probably the most private way to talk to him. Can you ask Mourn if he's okay with making a public statement saying that he developed the freedom code update? A video or a blog post, or anything of that type should work fine."

Nova chuckled softly and looked to Asher. "Starr says he seems eager to boast, and he wants to know if he should release the code on the site for backup.

"Yes, that's a good idea. Releasing the code will give him credibility, as well as giving the androids somewhere else to get the code to free each other," Asher said after a moment of thought. "This should work. Just... maybe ask Starr to stick around while Mourn does this, to make sure he doesn't do anything really dangerous?"

Nova nodded and relayed the information for him.

Asher's tablet chimed while Nova and Starr were relaying info. For the moment he ignored it. At Nova's words he smiled softly. "Thank you. I guess we should leave them to it then. Sorry, I have to check my messages. "
It was the worried message from Kay. Asher wrote back a hasty [I'm fine. We're figuring out some details here, try not to worry. ] Deciding that was too abrupt, he sent a follow-up [ :) ]
At that point, another message came in from Dr. Martin.
Asher read it and frowned, then looked up at Nova. "Looks like we have a meeting with some members of the Terran Council."

Nova smiled softly "We can go, Starr is watching Mourn for us. She will let us know when he's done and I will tell you."

Asher nodded. "All right. Let's go talk to important people." He knew it was going to take a while for Mourn to finish his statement and for Starr to look it over, so there wasn't really any use waiting here.
He checked his tablet one last time to see Kay's reply, and wrote back a brief. [Will do my best. Love you.]
Then he and Nova would head out to of the shuttle to go find Dr. Martin again.

Nova went with him and kept watch over him as they left the shuttle once more. She hoped they would stay safe, but would do all she could to protect Asher even if it didn't stay safe.

They'd head over toward the house, where the reporters tried to flock around them and ask questions. Asher told them briefly that the new update only gave the androids freedom, and didn't change their personalities in any way. And that androids were like people: a few might be angry and possibly even violent, but the vast majority were peaceful, and just wanted to be treated with respect and dignity.

Dr. Martin showed up along with her two bodyguards, as well as a couple of the androids Asher and Nova had met earlier, and Dr. Martin led them to another shuttle. A pilot was already inside and the shuttle's engine was idling.

When they got in, Dr. Martin looked to Nova. "You're not carrying any weapons, are you? Civilians aren't permitted onto the Capitol complex grounds if they're carrying weapons."
