Upon Vestia: Chapter Thirteen

"Probably," Asher said. "That's the consolation prize."

Asher was sort of glittery too, which he honestly didn't mind that much. Sure, it was undignified, but it was funny, and sometimes sacrifices had to be made in the name of fun.

Ellie gave Kay an inquisitive look. "What's with the glitter?"

James went over to look at the portion of Swarm that was going to leave the ship. "Hey guys! Nice house!*

Kay frowned and explained [High shelf, pot of glitter with a loose lid.]

The swarm or well.. the small bit of them that was in the jar butted the sides of the jar.

"They can't make words in jar." Mourn explained. "Don't worry bugs, I keep you safe."

The bugs tapped a few more times.
Kay paused.

[Is that morse?] He asked.

Mourn shrugged. "No hear." He lifted the jar up to his face. "You doing morse bugs?"

Swarm paused, gathering in the middle of the jar to bob up and down once.

[He finally managed to put someone in a jar. He must be delighted.] Kay wrote so only Ellie and Asher could see.

Dawn and Rigel came back out to join in the celebration together. Dawn would wear a nice dress she had gotten from the spider people as well. She liked just having an excuse to dress up for once.

Shane would come out with Skye and Moone and the chicks, making sure they all had masks

Starr was still reading in the temple when it got dark. She came from there to the spaceport, still lost in thought over what she had read. It was odd and interesting at the same time.

"I'll stay nearby and translate, then?" James said, looking at the bugs affectionately.

Ellie snorted at the comment about jars. "Better you guys than me," she added, referring to the glitter, "Some of these fools might tease you about it."

Asher looked amused. "Let them tease, then. They're just jealous."

Kay looked amused at Asher. [Nothing much we can do, it's impossible to get off.] He reached out to pick a few more bits off Asher's shirt. [It seems to multiply.]

"You are sparkly!" Mourn declared, staring at the medics. "Festive." he nodded approvingly, assuming they'd done that intentionally.

Swarm tapped the glass ---thank you---

Asher nodded. "We're very festive. I'm sure the locals will approve."

Ellie laughed and headed for the airlock, tightening the straps on her mask.

James would follow Mourn and Swarm wherever they were planning to go. He really cared about Swarm, okay?

Kay tightened his mask, hoping the glitter wouldn't clog it up or something, that'd be really annoying. He headed out with Asher.

Matt caught up to everyone, yanking his mask on to head outside to the festivities.

"Woah.. " He exclaimed as he saw the glowing city, catching up to Ellie and resting a hand on her shoulder. "THAT is cool."

Mourn would quite happily chatter away to James, after all, the vavare and the androids were the only ones he could actually communicate with out there.
"You not glittery, no want to get in on fun?"

Luka adjusted her mask and caught up with Dawn.
"You look beautiful!" She declared. "Finally an excuse to get dressed up!"

Armin happily greeted everyone.

The priest from earlier spotted Starr and bowed his head to her.

Dawn smiled and dipped her head "Yeah, might as well, right?" She said cheerfully.

Starr saw the priest and bowed in return, walking over to him. "It was quite interesting to read your book. I wanted to thank you for the chance." She said kindly

Ellie grinned up at him in agreement, then remembered he couldn't see her face and nodded enthusiastically. "These guys know how to decorate!"

James smiled at Mourn. "It's their fashion statement, I wouldn't want to steal it," he said.

"It was an honour my friend, an absolute honour." the priest told her.

"Exactly! This is about my only chance to be girly" Luka laughed. She was in no way girly. She was athletically built, tattooed and kinda boyish looking. But she did look pretty delighted to be in a swooshy dress for once.
"We should find James, he'll want to see right?"

"Definitely." Matt agreed, gravitating toward the musicians. He was really interested in their instruments okay?

Starr smiled again and nodded then looked around "This looks like it will be quite the party.

Dawn laughed and nodded "yeah, let's find him and see what he says"

Ellie followed Matt happily. She wasn't crazy about musical instruments herself, but she was super interested in seeing crazy vavare culture, and no doubt their extra legs had made them creative with music too.

"We enjoy celebrations, and we have a very good excuse for one this evening." The priest told her. "The Weaver has blessed us with this visit." He looked around, lowering his voice a little. "Though I caution you friend, those who see you will want to speak to you. There is a great deal of excitement about star dragons being here." He smiled softly and glanced around. Yes, people were staring. "If you wish for peace this night, tell me and I will do what I can to divert their attention so you may slip away." He bowed his head. "I am at your service blessed dragon."

Luka nodded and lead the way, searching over people for the android.

The musicians played happily, smiling and bowing their heads as the two approached.
Matt watched them play. The music wasn't anything familiar, but it was melodic and pleasant.

James spotted Luka and waved at her happily. He was currently just following Mourn and staring at everything.

"We got dressed up!" Luka told James, twirling ridiculously for him in her clompy huge boots.

Mourn tilted his head and watched her twirl.

Starr chuckled lightly and looked around "It is good to be able to be in my natural form without being attacked, though I cannot answer some questions. It seems your people have more knowledge than I do about the past."

Dawn followed happily looking around at the spider people and the party. When they found James, Dawn also showed off her dress with Luka.

"You both look great!" James told Dawn and Luka. "I like the boots," he added to Luka, "They're a very nice touch."

The priest bowed his head again. "For that I am deeply sorry. I do hope some of your questions have been answered now. May the weaver see fit to clear the way for you and guide you to the rest of those answers."

Luka looked down at her shoes coyly. "I didn't have any other shoes... " She admitted, a little embarrassed.

"People don't need to know that. You just have to strut, and they'll think you planned it," James said sagely. "Like Asher and Kay and the glitter! Did you see them?"

Luka shook her head. "Glitter? That's a little uh.. flamboyant isn't it?" She snickered and tried to catch a glimpse of the two medics now. "You're right, i'll call it.. formal girly military glamour... or something." She laughed and kicked her feet a little.

Starr nodded "Yes, some questions have been answered, though I will have to return to read some more tomorrow. " She said then looked to the ship and back "Would I be able to make a copy to bring with us when we leave? It is not a book that I could only read once."

Dawn giggled and curtsied then looked around again.

James laughed. "Hey, glitter accidents happen. You just have to roll with it when they happen to you." He nodded, "That's the spirit."

The priest nodded. "Of course, I will find you a copy blessed dragon."

"We still need to find you something formal to wear, get you looking like a proper captain." Luka teased James.

Armin went to speak to Kay and Asher. "Hello again friends, you look substantially happier and dryer since last we met. I trust all is well?" He asked. "No lasting damage?" He still felt bad.

Starr dipped her head again "You don't have to call me that, just Starr will do." She said, a bit embarrassed by the 'blessed dragon' phrase. She wasn't used to titles now.

Dawn nodded and chuckled "Yeah, a proper uniform for captain Bond." That was something she wouldn't mind seeing.

Luka nodded. "Yep, gotta have our captain looking the part." She snorted.

Mourn watched them all, but as he couldn't see their faces he had no idea what they were on about.
Swarm tapped against the glass.

--playing dress up with the android could be seen as disrespectful.-- they told them. Thankfully their telepathy still worked from the jar.

Mourn shrugged, he could barely receive telepathic signals anyway. It always came out really muffled.

"Sorry." Luka looked sheepish.

The priest looked apologetic. "If that is what you would prefer, of course. " He bowed his head again. "I am Ilgen

"They want to dress me up to make me look like a proper captain," James explained to Mourn helpfully. He looked amused. "Maybe someday when I'm rich. I know Armin wants to try things on me too. It seems to be a common theme lately."

"Yes, we're fine," Asher told Armin, smiling reassuringly. "My leg was easy to fix, and Kay seems to be unharmed, too."

"Even if he wanted to dress up?" Dawn asked, glancing over to Swarm and Mourn
