Upon Vestia: Chapter Thirteen

"Probably," Asher said. "That's the consolation prize."

"poor androids, so they just... sit somewhere all alone? That's just sad." Luka shook her head.

"They be free soon. " mourn nodded. "He be big hero."

Ilgen smiled, looking amused. "I believe that we would fall if we had so few limbs. Just as we would not know how to fly if we were to sprout wings. "

Kay nodded. [Each form you have to learn everything all over again. ]

"you are a shape changer too?" Ilgen asked.

Kay nodded. [Not a very good one. ]

"Truly your ship is one full of wonders." Ilgen decided.

"I am making ladders. For the library. The shelves are too high for me, and big people paperclips make the perfect ladders." The grate began squeaking under her weight, and she looked back up at the hinges suspiciously.

"Hmm..." Was all Merith said to Matt, still drinking.

"Often the owners have the decency to keep their androids powered off, so they don't get as lonely, at least," Asher said. "They'll be much better off once they're free, though."
"You'll want the whole jar then, I suppose?" he asked Sara. He fetched a step stool and moved it to below where she was, watching the grate suspiciously.

"If I can have it." Sara said hopefully, before frowning at the conversation, "Well, maybe being shut off is okay. Better than... uhm... other things..." The girl shuddered once, which was too much for the poor grate, and suddenly the hinges snapped and she screamed as she fell. Her body however, was incredibly bouncy, and instead of going splat, she was back into the air like a rubber ball. She yelled out in shock as her body flailed around and landed again, this time on top of a glitter jar, which knocked over to her force and with a pop! the lid cracked off, the girl landing next to the glittery substance, and then being covered in a waterfall of tiny shiny paper, and she sputtered out in shock.

Mourn hissed and leapt away from the glitter, nope, he didn't want to be anywhere near that stuff. His ears flattened, he watched from the relative safety of the other side of the table.

Luka however had tried to catch the girl as she fell, and ended up in a cloud of glitter. Coughing and sputtering.
"are you alright?" She asked, trying to wipe the sparkles off herself.

Mourn watched them for a moment, then burst into laughter. "Everyone sparkly now!" He declared.

"I-I... think I'm good, except..." The girl stood up, the tiny think now covered head to toe in annoying disks of plastic that stick to even her tiny hands. "Stupid glitter... You have no idea how hard this is to get out of dragon scales, too..."

Asher got out of Luka's way when she tried to catch Sara, but still got another good dusting of the stuff. Dang it.
He relaxed once he saw Sara was okay.

Mourn nodded. "Hard to get out of fur too. No come close." He stayed away.

Luka sighed and reached out a hand to the tiny girl. "A lot of showers I think are the only real solution, but at least you aren't alone. Both the medics are covered in the stuff too." She looked down at herself. "and now me too."

"At least I have tiny hands and hair. It'll be easy for me to clean off, but you big people have such clumsy hands. I could help if you want. I'm rather experienced in helping bathe bigger species. I can sharpen and buffer claws, clean scales and wash fur. And apply make-up as well, if it's so required." She bowed slightly, dusting herself off.

"Vestia?" Asher said resignedly, "Can you get the vacuum bots again?"

"Sure thing," said Vestia.

"That's all right," Asher told Sara a bit uncomfortably, "We'll get it off eventually on our own."

Luka looked bewildered at that. "I uh.. I think I can live with sparkles for now." She looked to Asher. "What about you? You DO need to be unglittery in the medical room right? glitter's not very heigenic."

"Dragon wear makeup?!" Mourn asked loudly. in his head he pictured a dragon in heavy blusher and lipstick and it was HILARIOUS.

"Only nobles." Saraphine shook her head, explaining to Mourn. "Because most of them are more scaly than fleshy, they use specialized cosmetics. It's not as gaudy as you'd think. In fact, most of us make sure that our work isn't gaudy..."

"I'm going to make James bandage wounds for a while," Asher said. Yeah, he really wasn't comfortable with the idea of Sara getting glitter off him. "There should be no problem with me handing out medicine or painkillers though, once I stop shedding glitter."

Vestia's bots showed up and started vacuuming.

Luka smiled at the little bots and crouched down to get a better look at them. "We SO need some of these on our ship!"

Mourn climbed onto the table, away from the vacuuming.

Sara began to intricately pick out glitter stuck to her body, tossing each piece in the pile on the table.

Asher set to work dusting himself off. Again. "Are you all right, Mourn?" he asked, glancing up at Mourn on the table.

Mourn nodded. "No like vacuums. " He swished his tail. "catch fur." He nodded as if he spoke from bitter experience. "We do medical room shelves now yes?"

"That sounds unpleasant," Asher said. He smiled, "Once we stop shedding glitter, we can go handle the shelves in the med bay. No need to rush."

Mourn laughed. "you be shedding glitter for weeks. Gets everywhere!"

Luka nodded, standing up. "It's true." She ruffled her hair, sending a small cloud of glitter into the air.
"I'm gonna have so many showers after this."

The bots busily scurried about as new bits of glitter rained down around them. They didn't seem to mind the new work; after all, this was literally all they were programmed to do.

Asher sighed, watching them work. "So many showers." He ran his fingers through his hair and looked mournfully at the bits of glitter that drifted down onto his shoulders.

"you don't like showers?" Luka asked. "I find they can be rather relaxing. Also, it's the ONLY time that's just ME time. Nobody bothers you while you're showering."

Mourn made a face. "Water... "

"Well no, I don't suppose cats much care for water."

Mourn hrumphed.

"I don't like showers. The drops are too heavy. I prefer baths." Sara input, sighing as she easily pulled the last bit of glitter out of her hair.

"That she is." Starr said, looking over to the ship and nodding. "There is so much to learn and so many species to learn about in this universe." She said but smiled

"Oh gosh, yes. You'd need like.. some super fine mist rather than drops" Luka nodded.

"You good at removing glitter." Mourn remarked, nodding to Sara.

"Yeah... Mist... A LOT better than a jetstream..." Sara shuddered, before she looked at Mourn, nodding, "Yeah. I've had a lot of practice. Quick and efficient. Quick and efficient."

"Dragons get glitter on them lots?" Mourn tilted his head.

"I guess it must be easier when the pieces are bigger, relative to your size... " Luka looked awkward. "Sorry.. just.. " Yep, shutting up now.
She help sweep the remaining glitter back into the pot, put the lid on and returned it to the shelf.

Starr smiled and bowed her head again. "Thank you Ilgen." She said kindly. She and Shane and the others would go back to simply enjoying the party.
