Dawn's uncle, Rigel, was taken from his home by slavers. She was sent to find him and bring him back since her father had hurt himself and couldn't go.

Rigel and Orion, Dawn's father, both control the earth element.

Orion was a mechanic and engineer that would take apart old shuttles and put them together once fixed.

Dawn's mother(Ariella) and brother (Leo) were killed when she was young, leaving her to be raised by her father and uncle when he came back to Pandora.

Dawn's home

When Dawn was 7, her mother tried to fight an Anamcara to save her brother. Dawn watched this from a hilltop nearby where her mother told her to wait/stay at. She spent the night there before she was found and taken home. Her mother and brother's bodies were later found in the river closer to the nearest town downriver.

Her father fell into drinking at first, having lost a wife and son and having his daughter be unresponsive for a few days. His loss of control nearly cost them their home and their lives, but it was contained by Rigel and seemed to help 'wake' her up. She tried so hard to help her father and they finally seemed to find something they could do together, him teaching her to work on the shuttles, since that hid her face so he could not 'see her mother' whenever he looked at her. At that time she didn't recognize this for what it was and was happy to have her father be with her again.

When she was 20, her uncle was taken and her father hurt badly enough that the slavers left him behind. When she found him, her father was delirious, but told her the truth about those years. Once she learned that her father couldn't look at her without seeing her mother, she left to try to save her uncle. She turned 21 a week after leaving Pandora

She had other adventures that taught her that a lone female was always in danger.

At 22 she found the Silver Devil and joined it's crew. Then Esk tried to take the ship only to fail. He then took her captive to leave before they were taken by slavers. She was freed and she in turn freed Esk to have a bodyguard while they waited to be taken back to the SD and she became the main medic on the SD. After a while the SD joined Vestia's crew which has given her the chance to learn more about being a doctor even with all the crazy adventures they have.

Dawn's aunt had a Pandoran specific disease called Sage Blight. It only affects Pandorans, stealing their ability to connect with their element. There are varying levels of it, but it always strikes after the element has manifested and the one afflicted has had some time learning to use their element. It can be just a 'muffling' where the person can still use their element, but have to work harder at it to a full cut off where they can't even feel the connection. It is most often spread through a bug bite when the bug bites one then goes and bites another, but it can also be spread through the blood, like needles and transfusions.
