Satare Empire - Melanoc Lunar Colony

First topic message reminder :

One of the central lunar colonies orbiting the vast, water world Satare.

A farming colony, what isn't walled farmland is dense forest and woodland.
There are 12 moons in the sky, though not all are visible at any one time and the enormous blue ball that is the planet.

Don't go out after dark, there are monsters in the woods.

Jarral looked somewhat bewildered. "I do not know, I have never known any different. I feel like.. myself." He shook his head, trying to figure out who uncle Matt was. Kevali didn't tend to shorten names, so it didn't even occur to him that Matt and Mattias were the same person.
"As far as I am aware, all Kevali and Kalvair have a symbiote Elemental soul."
He followed her down the stairs.

Danica frowned but nodded, it was just like her and being an empath. "Ok, it's really different from what I know, but there's a lot I don't know yet."

"There is much to learn about ... everything." Jarral mused. "I do not believe any one person could ever know or understand everything." Didn't mean he didn't want to know as much as he could though.

Web looked up as Jarral and Danica came downstairs, he smiled.

Jarral bowed his head gracefully to his Lord, nodded to Danica and took his seat at the table.

Thalia had already started serving up food.

Danica smiled at the others, coming to the table then shifting so she could eat with her siblings in dragon form.

Moone took a seat after helping to get everyone settled.

Jarral couldn't help but stare at Danica as she shifted. The way she changed form was just so strange and disconcerting to him.

<<Are you alright?>> Web asked Jarral.

Jarral nodded. <<Yes my Lord.>> He ate his food greedily, much like Kaliyani, as if he expected there to be his last meal for a while.

Everyone else took their seats. The farmers couldn't really work in such a storm, but they were going to go out there anyway and secure anything that needed securing from the wind and rain.

The lights kept flickering and Web frowned. Storms like this often meant powercuts. He made a note to find some candles or lamps they could light, just in case.

Danica looked over to Jerral then focused on eating until they were done.

Moone smiled a little, watching them eat like they wouldn't be able to have this much again. She was glad they liked the food here so much.

Web ate at a more sedate pace, he looked concerned as the lights kept dimming. Once everyone had finished eating he rose and went looking for lanterns or candles.

Kalyani cleared the table.

"What is wrong with the lights?" Jarral asked.

"Old wiring probably, and storm outside." Thalia replied grimly.

Jarral frowned. "are we safe?"

Thalia shrugged. "you learned common." She noted.

Jarral nodded. "You did not answer my question Miss."

Thalia frowned at being called Miss. "Probably, it's just rain."

Jarral looked contented with that and moved to help Kaliyani with the plates.

Moone smiled at Jarrel and looked up at the lights. "We should be fine, the storm isn't that strong." She said gently.

Time passed. Web did what he could to ensure they all had food and warmth and shelter and eventually all the work on the grounds would be finished, 2 of the Kalvair farmers returned home with Kaliyani, leaving one behind to help out.

It shouldn't be difficult now, Web reasoned, for them to maintain things during the wet months. And soon enough they should have crops to harvest and supplement their supplies.

The weather was erratic, sunny then rain, then storms. Web explained that this was fairly common and meant the orbital satellites that were supposed to regulate the seasons weren't working properly again. It'd be fixed in a week or two, till then they just had to sit it out and hope it resolved.

Bianca wasn't very useful around the house. She spent a lot of time eating, arranging her nest, or snoozing. She did spend time with the hatchlings and Moone though, she liked them. Sometimes if they were sad, she tried to groom their hair or scales to make them feel better. It wasn't much, but since she wasn't great at parenting or counseling, it was the best she could do.

She still wasn't entirely sure about Web. He smelled too much like meat, and like Matt who had often made comments about eating rats.

The babies got excited one day, chattering softly to themselves in a circle before they started jumping around excitedly. "Mom's talking again." They cried out happily

Jarral was learning common very rapidly, but he was still very quiet and soft spoken. He barely spoke to the adults and took the sight of a talking rat in his stride. After seeing people shapeshift, talking rats didn't seem that weird at all.
Like Kaliyani he was polite and curious, but he also seemed very very wary of everything.

Thalia was her usual antisocial self, though she did a lot of work around the house. Cleaning, cooking, keeping things going in a way that meant she didnt' have to interact with anyone that often.
Her morning sickness had passed and she'd settled into the more comfortable second trimester. She spent her evenings taking out the seams of clothing to accommodate the expanding bump around her middle.

Web had taken the translator.
He seemed to be avoiding Thalia. She'd managed to get him alone a few times and get a bit too friendly and it freaked him out. Oh he understood of course, he looked just like the man she loved and missed and her hormones were nuts, but he did the only thing he could and fled while making lame excuses. The last thing he wanted was to screw up again.

Thalia was embarrassed by her own behaviour and annoyed, which only made her retreat further and become more antisocial.
It was all very awkward.

Web it turned out, wasn't very good around kids. He always seemed a little uncomfortable and unsure of what was expected of him. Certainly he lacked any of Matt's carefree childish joy and openness, he was a much quieter, sombre man who didn't like being touched and wasn't very good at entertaining youngsters who he seemed to keep forgetting were as young as they were.
He watched out for them certainly, but in that very adult standing guard sort of manner.

The remaining Kalvair worked the fields and seemed pretty content to act as a grounds keeper. He couldn't speak a word of common but as he didn't seem to be a particularly friendly individual anyway, it didn't  much matter. He barely spoke at all, communicating mostly in nods and shakes of the head.

Jarral stared at the dragons. "Mom?"

Web came in from outside hearing the commotion. "What's the matter?"

Danica nodded and looked to Web when he came in "Mom talked to us" She said excitedly. Vela and Kerr nodded at her words.

"Mom, the queen of the star dragons, Starr" Vela said, saying the different names and title they knew her by.

Bianca peered out from her nest and sneaked over curiously to listen in. "How did she talk to you? Is she nearby?"

Kerr looked to Bianca then shook his head before touching his temple. "No, she spoke in mind, she's still on Vestia, but that war thing is done with, so they are heading somewhere to get us soon."

"You can communicate with her over all this distance?" Web asked, oh that was useful. "Is everyone safe? Where are they?"

Danica nodded and smiled then shrugged "Some of them were hurt, but they are alive and safe now. Dad-Asher is hurt, he can't walk so they have to go to Mars for a part. Uncle Matt is hurt and can't walk either but he's healing. Esk was hurt but he had surgery and is better now." She said, thinking of what they were told. "They are on 'beach planet' right now."

Web looked concerned. Matt and Esk were hurt? Alive was good though.
He shook his head. "I don't know where that is." He admitted. And there was no guarantee Fate would take him to his brothers. Still, it gave them an out.
"Can you return a message?"

Danica thought then nodded "If mom's not blocking again, we can"

Web nodded. "If it is safe to do so, we should make plans to return you to your families."

Danica bounced a little at that "Yes, go home see mom and dads." She said excitedly then looked to the other two. Young as they were, they had to touch one another to link up to be strong enough to try to contact Starr.

Web smiled softly, relieved everyone was alright and they had a contact.

(It's the same day definitely, and probably close enough in time to not cause complications haha)

(I dunno, shall we assume they are? lol. For simplicity sake let's say it is!)

"We got mom" Danica said excitedly and glanced to Web. "What do we say?"

"Tell her that we are all safe, but need coordinates so we can meet and reopen the portal. " Web told the dragons.
