Upon Vestia: Chapter Twenty-One

Luka made a face. "gross. Computer, regular clothes please." She looked relieved as the gown disappeared and she was just in her usual cargo pants and vest. "Who should we go annoy then?"

"It tastes like milk to me," Ellie said with a shrug. Then she grinned, "Then again, I don't drink it plain, so I can't taste it through all the sugar."

Matt shrugged. "who knows then?" He grinned.

"Yo Dawn, do you know if synthetic milk tastes weird?" Ellie asked.

They'd reach the golf course before too long. It was a big area of empty space with a high ceiling and gently rolling "hills", with drainage and places to install water pipe. It was all gray metal currently, but the "natural" lighting was nice.

Matt looked around. "ooo, hills!" He ran up on and back down the other side, just because he could. "this makes a change from flat corridors!"

Dawn chuckled then shrugged a little, going in to look around the room "It tastes alright to me, not like real milk though" She said softly

Shane came in and looked around, smiling.

The two dragons wanted down to run around on the hills

Ellie crouched down to let Kerr climb to the ground. "Well now I guess we get real milk that tastes like milk! Yay! Do you think we should get chickens too someday?"

"I think we should get whatever animals will go well together and provide good food in a sustainable way. We can use fences to rotate the goats and grow food for the creatures" Dawn said then shrugged "Chickens do make some good eggs."

"chickens and ducks! but we'd need water for ducks... " Hey it was a golf course, those had water hazards right?
Matt grinned and crouched down so the baby dragons could come play. He was way more interested in running about than the logistics of fencing.

Ellie got up and started looking around the golf course. "Man, this place is big. We can totally fit in water for ducks, and whatever chickens need, and whatever goat-things need! We just need that shipment of dirt and then we need someone to cover everything in it..." Hmm, this was starting to sound complicated.

"Cover everything in what?" Shane asked, sticking close to Ellie

Kerr and Vella went over to Matt to play with him in this huge place. It was like a giant playground to them and they liked how the floor wasn't flat like everywhere else

"Cover everything in dirt so we can start growing the plants in the dirt," Ellie said. "Someone needs to put dirt on everything."

"Oh, that's easy enough" Shane said then grinned "Just get the dirt here and let me put it out. Though, you may all want to leave the room for that" He added with a chuckle

"Ooh, magic dirt placing," Ellie grinned. "Well that works!"

"whoo Shane can use his super powers! then Ellie can grow grass, I can make it rain and fill up any ponds and then we leave it to Vestia's sprinkler system and lighting to help everything grow properly." Matt cheered and grinned at the kids. "And you guys can totally come and roll down the hills when they're covered in grass too."

"Roll in grass?" Kerr asked curiously, though their excitement made him excited.

Shane nodded and smiled "Yeah, technically either me or Dawn could putt he dirt out but either way, it's magic dirt packing"

"This is TEAMWORK," Ellie looked delighted. "Grass is amazing to roll in," said Kerr, "All soft and scratchy and then you feel energized unless the grass drains you."

Dawn looked around then nodded and took a seat on the floor "This will be perfect for whatever creatures we end up with."

"Drains you?" Matt shook his head. "most people don't have plant empathy, it's just grass for us." He reassured the kids.
"They must have dirt here right Ellie? They did that whole... asteroid thing. Oh! You should ask Flora! Maybe she can hook us up with some soil and seeds and stuff." Yes, this was a good plan.

Ellie giggled. "Right. It only drains you if you're a crazy tree lady like me. You'll probably be okay, kids!"

"I have a shipment of dirt ordered," Vestia called.

"Vestia, can you get us a pasture seed mix too?" Ellie called back.

"Will do," Vestia said.

"this is gonna be so cool. Real grass to roll in, actual animals. Maaan, we're gonna be SO self sufficient." Matt grinned. "Space farmers, Ellie! SPACE farmers!"

"Okay, that sounds cool," Ellie said. "We're gonna be like... Arthur's Ark or something, sailing across space with our pairs of animals in our giant ship. Except they're not pairs of animals because we care about generic diversity." She nodded happily.

"Huh?" Matt looked bewildered, he didn't know who arthur was or what an ark was. "What the heck is an ark?"

"It's like... a big boat that floats on water. They fill it with animals so the animals don't go extinct. I think it's an old Terran religious story," Ellie said. "They had to save the animals because everything was flooding," she added, just to clarify.

Matt shook his head. "you guys have some weird myths." He brightened "but hey, we're totally a ship full of endangered species!" Okay that wasn't something to be happy about, but it was kinda cool they were all together.

"Yeah, so many weird myths. It's crazy, man." Ellie looked like she wasn't sure how to take Matt's excitement about everyone being endangered species. "Well, I mean, I'm not endangered. Humans are, like, everywhere," she pointed out.

"true.. so are Satare.... still, we totally have a ship full of like... last of their kind sorts which is sad but also.. kinda cool because like, they could find love and start a family and save their species right? Okay you need more than one couple for that... but it's a start." Yeah he wasn't sure where he was going with this. He shrugged. "I dunno."

Shane chuckled and nodded "Yeah, we are all different
