Skye looked around the place, searching for someone to talk to and ask about a non-portal way to get around.

Rigel had already wandered off on his own, making his way through the city using the die to make choices as he went.

Swarm followed, scattering so they could spread out to better search for a peace keeper or anything.

Skye found someone to ask, being lead to a shuttle that could take them around.

Swarm gathered together to follow Skye --this-- --is-- --promising-- they remarked.

Skye smiled and nodded "Yeah, it is. I'm glad we can avoid the portals."

Swarm bobbed in their weird nod. --we-- --are-- --relieved.-- --being-- --ship-- --bound-- --when-- --there-- --are-- --such-- --sights-- --to-- --behold-- --is-- --disappointing--
they remembered oh too well their trip to Vavaren.

"Yeah, I can see that." Skye said with a smile "Though the others should be alright with taking you out with them, aren't they?"

Swarm bobbed up and down. --But-- --we-- --empathise-- --with-- --your-- --plight-- they explained. --when-- --on-- --Vavaren-- --we-- --could-- --not-- --safely-- --leave-- --the-- --ship.--
--Here-- --we-- --have-- --no-- --problems-- --with-- --portals.-- --we-- --have-- --been-- --exploring.-- --we--- --are-- --glad-- --you-- --can-- --do-- --so-- --as-- --well-- --now.--

Skye smiled at that and dipped her head "Oh, yes. It is good to be able to explore, even if we need special ways sometimes." She agreed.

Swarm bobbed up and down in a nod.

--What-- --would-- --you-- --like-- --to-- --see?-- they asked.

Skye shrugged a little and looked out the window "I don't know, I just want to wander and see what we see."

--there-- --is-- --so-- --much-- --to-- --see.-- --we-- --haven't-- --had-- --the-- --chance-- --to-- --see-- --it-- --all-- --yet.-- --the- --archives-- --themselves-- --are-- --filled-- --with-- --enough-- --information-- --to-- --feed-- --a-- --swarm-- --for-- --generations.-- --or-- --so-- --we-- --hear.-- they'd been avoiding the archives, oh they desperately wished to see them, but they could sense the presence of another swarm that grew stronger as they approached that building, they didn't much care to encounter an intact swarm, they had decided such a meeting was liable to be most unpleasant for them, and all the more isolating. Knowing you were cut off from your species was one thing, being out and out told you had no place within the hive any longer was something they weren't quite sure they could stand to actually hear.

Skye glanced back to them at the movement and read what they wrote before nodding, "They probably do, though I like to learn from the people themselves most times, but if you want to go there instead of wandering, we can try."

Skye dipped her head at that and smiled then looked out the window again to see where they were and if anything caught her eye for them to see.

Swarm watched Skye and looked out the window, waiting for them to land so they could really explore.

Armin nodded grimly. "Yes. Precisely. For many species the loss of a limb is permanent and potentially fatal, for Vavare, the joints naturally seal off if there's a breech, it prevents us from bleeding out. It takes several molts to regrow a lost limb, but it is possible. " He looked back at his legs. "That is why we were on Defiant. I could not travel until I had recovered from my injuries and by the time I could be moved, my sister and cousin had decided there was profit to be made by remaining. I will likely always limp slightly, but it is better than being dead is it not?" He looked for a moment sad, then turned away.

James reached out to pat Armin's shoulder sympathetically. "It is good that it works that way, staying alive is nice. You didn't want to stay on Defiant as long as you ended up being there, though?" He thought a moment, "Yeah, Chuck was a dick."
He looked up at the sky, which was huge and dark overhead, and was probably going to vacuum him away, then back at Armin.

Armin bowed his head gracefully. "When we got away those who were strong enough, despite their injuries or illnesses were transported from defiant, where we were dropped off, back to our home world to recover. The medics there decided that moving me after I had lost so much blood and gone through such a trauma was simply not an option. There was every chance I would not survive the journey. And so my sister elected to stay with me, to nurse me and keep me safe while I recovered. Trygve would not leave her so he remained as well. It took a long time before I could walk again without stumbling, I kept trying to use a leg I did not have any longer and it hurt. Phantom pain the medics said, but it felt real enough. I got tired quickly as well. I remember a simple stroll from one side of the prominade to another was enough to exhaust me utterly. In order to make ends meet my sister and cousin began to sew and sell their wares, I found sitting and sewing to be relaxing and therapeutic so I threw myself into my craft. Soon we had enough money to rent a store space and by the time I was strong enough for the journey home, we had all settled into our new life there. My recovery took just over a year I believe, we ended up staying for close to... six? I lost track. Before the new security chief arrived things were good, business was good. but times change. Such is the nature of the universe."

"That must have been so difficult," James said softly. "Your sister and Trygve really are good people, but wow, being stuck out there for that long has to suck." He looked at Armin's leg, remembering which one caused him trouble. "You must have been pretty young at the time."

It wasn't too much longer before the shuttle landed and they could get out. Skye looked around where they were then looked back to Swarm "Alright, so which direction should we go?" She asked playfully

Armin nodded. "I had only started to learn my craft shortly before we were captured. We were there for nearly three years before we were liberated. " He frowned and tried to remember. "I would have been, fifteen, perhaps sixteen when we arrived on defiant."

Poor Armin, geez. Being enslaved when you were what, twelve? had to be pretty crappy. "Damn," James said. He wasn't all that great at eloquence.

Skye shrugged and smiled at Swarm "Whatever there is to see." She replied then looked around before picking up a feather and spinning it, letting it fall to the ground then pointing the way it pointed "That way, let's see what we find."
