Upon Silver Devil: Chapter Three

[I can't say i've ever seen him drunk actually. I haven't seen him in nearly ten years.] Hmm that'd be interesting. [He got tall.] He smiled oddly, trying to make light of what was clearly pretty awkward and difficult.

"Makes sense. She's a weird lady, she won't care if they use her room," James agreed.

"And they can be together to stay calm" Rigel said with a nod "We should make sure the room is ready for them before they get here." He said, finishing getting the food put away "Want to help me with that?"

"Sure! I gotta scan Esk's jaw first, then I can help you out," James said.

Esk glanced back at them. "They can have my room, it's bigger." Yeah somehow Vicky had managed to wrangle a larger room, probably because she was a psycho bitch and Acus wanted her far away from him. of course that wasn't why he was suggesting this.
He put things away and stuffed a few candy bars into his pockets.
"Speaking of crazy telepaths, where the fuck did the insects go?"

Rigel looked over to Esk and tilted his head "Where would you go then?" He asked curiously. He didn't want to put anyone out when they were here.

Esk shrugged. "I don't really care, I can sleep anywhere." Besides which, he didn't intend to leave Dawn that much till she was able to walk around okay? He kinda felt.. obligated to look after her.

Rigel shook his head a little "When we are all together again, we can talk about rearranging rooms, for now, Tala's room is good enough."

"Yeah, where is Swarm? They keep disappearing," James said. "It's weird, they've been sneaking off all day." He nodded to Esk, yeah, ditching Vicky's room would be good for the guy's psyche or something, right?

"Maybe they found something more interesting?" Esk suggested, he looked suspicious though. "Fuck knows what they're up to." he'd never really trusted those bugs.

"Come on, let's scan you. I'm sure Swarm will turn up eventually," James said to Esk. He nodded to Rigel, "Then we'll get Tala's room sorted out."

Rigel nodded and headed to see what needed to be done to get the room ready

Esk grumbled and followed James.

James led the way to the med bay, and got out the scanner to scan Esk's jaw.

Esk looked grumpy about this but he stood still.

James scanned him to see what the damage looked like. He suspected he wouldn't find much, but you should always check when your patient had been punched by a cyborg.

Esk was fine, a lot of bruising, some swelling but it would be okay. "happy?" HE asked.

"Delighted. Looks like you're gonna be just fine." James set the scanner down, and went to get an ice pack, which he handed to Esk. "Stick that on your face for a bit if you want. Might make it feel better."

Esk did as he was told, sitting down and holding the ice pack to his face. He sighed.

James went to actually put the scanner away where it was supposed to go. "Wanna talk about it?" Not that he expected Esk to want to, but he felt like he should ask. Having a run-in with someone who was in love with you stank, moreso when they were really angry and bitter about it.

"not really." Esk mumbled, it was hard to talk through an ice pack. He hesitated. "Thanks for not saying anything." He told him.

"Fair enough," James said, nodding. "No problem, man. Didn't seem like something you'd want everyone to know about."

Esk nodded. "She's fucking nuts."

"Yeah. I mean I kinda got that impression before, but holy crap." James shook his head. Slapping and punching a guy? Cause he asked her a dumb question and had broken up with her after a weird relationship that neither one of them had apparently understood? Pretty crazy, in James's opinion. "Good thing you got out when you did."

Esk made a face. "I don't get it." He admitted. "I mean, at first I assumed it was just some fucked up game to her. I supposed to be good at reading people." He looked frustrated. "But women fucking confuse me."

"Hey, it's hard to see things you don't want to see," James said. "I figure that's probably why I went so long without noticing how Acus felt. I was fine with things the way they were, and I didn't want any romance, so I guess I kinda assumed he didn't either. Looking back, the signs were there for a while."

Esk pulled the ice pack away from his face, he looked irritated. "As soon as I found out I told her I couldn't give her what she wanted. Why is she so mad? It's not like I lied to her, or tricked her. I just.. can't do that sappy shit." He frowned.

"Attachments, man," James said sagely. "She had a vision of the future I guess, and she wanted you in it. I've heard it's pretty darn rough to go through a breakup, and it probably felt like a breakup to her when you told her you didn't love her. Plus we've already established that she's nuts."
