The Last of the Alistair Family Headquarters

The car from the shore would drive all the way back to town and further. It pulled into an alleyway and the inhabitants within the car would depart: Judas, Gnu, Matthew, and finally Lai. Judas would place a small triangular object on the ground, and it sprang to life as a small circular blue portal.

They were transported to a small, white ship that orbited the planet above. Matthew seemd very familiar with the place and instantly called shower first and left to go bathe as Judas, Lai and Gnu were left alone. Gnu began tending to labrats with each of them in their own cages. Some of them looked very sick as a note written in common was posted up front: Please do not interact with the testing rats! They are contaminated with a lethal and contagious disease known as lycanthropy and are currently going under testing procedure. Thank you!

Lai was left alone as Matthew's brother, Judas, went to go tend to his notes, telling Lai to make herself at home.

"A bounty company..." Matthew muttered in thought, leaning back and thinking with his eyes half closed, the slits of ruby red shining against cobalt skin.

"Not a bad idea," Judas mused, "It'll take a while to pick up on but I'm sure you have enough income to stave off money problems, right Matty?" The younger and smaller-statured man looked their direction after writing some notes off a clip board.

"I could... But I'm not changing my name." Matthew sighed, opening my eyes, "I will... Try this bounty hunting idea, but changing my identity is a whole different story. I find hiding a cowardly tactic." He said simply, looking at Starr. "But yes, I'll... Consider... A bounty company."

Starr dipped her head a little "That is your choice of course." She said then pulled out a paper from her pocket to hand over to him "If you do decide to go that route, then contact them, they can help you get started." She said then stood and glanced over to the other male again before turning towards the door. "They are friends of mine and an assassin company that has bounty hunting as a sideline."

Matthew took the paper to inspect it, while Judas returned Starr's gaze with the cock of an eyebrow. "Are you sure you don't want to help in the refinement process? It might actually help your kin."

Gnu looked at Starr, "If you're ready to leave, Madamoiselle, I can assist you back to mainland or even your ship if you need."

Starr paused and looked to Judas again, frowning a little. "Help how?" She asked curiously then glanced to Gnu "My wings are fine for taking me back home, but thank you for the offer."

"Well," Judas gave her a kind smile, "You're magics are unique to your species, excluding mimicry species like the Guild of Scribes. It's one of the reasons why you're hunted, correct?"

"One reason why we were hunted" Starr said and nodded "Since I am the only free one left."

"So, what if we found a way to replace your magic, to where slave owners no longer needed Star dragons to produce the same or similar results?"

Starr tilted her head then shook it "No, Do you realize what these people will do with that kind of power? The power to make, erase or otherwise control the very stars...that kind of power cannot be held by so many power hungry fools. At least while it stays residing in us, it can be controlled."

Judas frowned, but sighed, "Your loss then. Still..." He returned back to feeding the rats. "It's not as if we can't control it. That's what the prototypes are for..."

Starr sighed and looked down at her hands held in front of her. "I will free my people, but not at the cost of lives lost through improper use of the gifts we were given. People would have to study long and hard to understand how to not make planets collide by creating stars on a whim."

"What do you think the Drakkan have been doing for most of thei--" Judas was soon hushed by both Gnu and Matthew with frantic gestures from the former and a glare from the latter. Matthew sighed as well, "Well, the offer is still up if you ever have any second thoughts. Anything else... Miss Starr?"

"No, nothing for now." Starr said, looking to Matthew then nodding and turning to the door again.

*next day, evening*

After having a near come appart on how lacking of food to cook she made sure earlier this morning that fresh cookable food was in store she would spend most of the day getting the kitchen ready. Soon the smell of healthily cooked food waft throughout the ship as Lai did her thing she happily hummed being in her prefer eviroment.

After the rats were fed, Judas had continued working on his research in the lab rooms with the door locked, not coming out, rather sending Gnu back and forth. The android didn't seem to mind. In fact the work made him rather pleased as he would fetch the scientist's meals and so forth. Matthew was also busy making himself useful, chatting to several of his crew with holographic omnicoms, seeing who will go and who would stay as the word about career changing spread. He kept busy, smiling at Lai when she came around from time to time. Gnu stood at the ready to help anyone who called while he had a faraway look, amusing himself by playing built in computer mind games to pass the time until he was summoned.

Lai would get the meal done and attempt to pull the boys out of their rooms to eat at a table.

Both of them would quite easily come. Matthew sat at the dinner table -- which had replaced the living room with a push of a few buttons, the couches folding over into chairs as the table rose taller -- quite elagantly, sitting in his chair promptly and politely. Judas, however hopped in, wild, and bounced into his seat, "Yeah! Food!" Gnu patiently strode on stand by.

Lai had gotten the table preset so all the food was in dishes to be scooped out. "How you haven't died from lack of decent food is beyond me." She stated directly torwards Judas as she let Matthew get his food first.

Judas only snickered and shrugged while Matthew waited patiently for everyone to be ready before they would help themselves. Gnu simply went back to his game.

Once food was serve and Matthew was ppease with it (if Juda complained Lai would inform him he could then have no deserts) she would take a bite herself. Halfway to her mouth with the fork she froze a sharp pain racking her body the utensil dropped.

Pain, lots of pain sudden filled her and screaming soo many peopld screaming. She strumbled out of the chair only able to make sounds of a hurt bird as she clutched her thobbing head. A look of confusion flashed her face as she couldn't understand what was going on.

Now if Gnu was hooked up to the news he would quixkly be flooded of Avia's destruction.

Matthew and Judas both made noises of shock and surprise, bouncing out of their seats as Drakkan tumbled from their mouths, both of them simultaneously lunging to catch the woman before she hit the floor painfully. Gnu would also make a noise of surprise as his feed suddenly popped up the breaking news incident, falling silent as he read the article on how it happened.

Lai heavily panted as she was barely caught in time. Her eyes welled up in tears as she stuttered, "Screaming, so many people screaming and in pain..." She whimpered squeezing her eyes shut.

There would be also independent reports of Avian vessels off planets seemingly to react to the destruction.

Matthew picked her up gently and hushed in an attempt to soothe her. He looked worriedly at Judas, who looked at Gnu expectantly. After the android explained the event, he asked them to wait until he recovers more information on the matter. How has it happened, was his biggest question.

Matthew looked down at Lai worriedly, the table shortening and the chairs flipping over to a couch, which he softly laid her down on as Judas went to go retrieve some rags and some water. Maybe some pain killers.

Lai would curl up into a ball of pain, any other words were in Avian at this point. The only other sounds she would make would be soft sobbing and whimpers of pain.

In time more info came in, from video feed to the attack (sources unknown) and the numerous more detaile reactions of Avian vessels, a few of which ended with death. The whole galaxy was in reeling shock of the attack and many Empires were meeting to speak of this sudden horror.

Gnu murmered something and showed the information on screen, even the rumors of who had done it: A cult of sorts, called the Family.

The name was all too familiar to Matthew. He grit his teeth and looked at Lai. Judas sensed the building rage and glanced at his brother, staring down at his clenched knuckles. "Matthew...?"

It would take work for her to willing take any pain pills she unconsciously flinched at the name 'Family' unpleasant memories well back up from the reminder

Matthew had grown silent as Judas tended to Lai. Matthew mute seething was uncomfortable for the younger brother, and as he did his best to make the agonized woman comfortable, he couldn't help but wonder how Matthew would react once he found his voice...

Lai would pass out in time as her pain threshold was brutally met. She would be heavily panting in this pain filled rest her toes and fingers would twitch here and there.

Poor Gnu would be bombarded by numerous reports as the aftermath was already being played out, theories filled his feed of what this happened. Yet in the end everyone had the same question.
