Upon Silver Devil: Chapter Four

Dawn would be alright, she just got bored laying there alone and without a project to do.

Ivor retired to his room, but Silence, the braver of the two decided to have a look around on her own.
She cautiously stalked from her room, investigating the ship for herself.

James was looking over an inventory list in the main room. He waved in greeting to Silence when he saw her, but let her look around without interruption. Yay, one of the kids was exploring.

Rigel had gone to his room, waiting for word that Hytar's ship had gone with their people before he would give the order to leave. His door was open so if anyone needed him for anything.

Hytar's ship departed, soon after the Silver Devil left too.

Swarm was still being weird about what they'd been doing on Defiant, but the Swarm was often odd.
They'd returned to their observing, quietly chittering amongst themselves.

The crew fell back into their routines.

Esk rose, ate breakfast and took food to Dawn so she wouldn't try to get out of bed and get it for herself. He had a feeling she was stubborn enough to try that kinda crap.

Silence had ventured out into the communal area and was staring up at the insects on the ceiling, head tilted, watching them quietly.

Luka of course was flying the ship. And keeping out of the way.
She planned to take some books or something to Dawn later on, once Rigel took over her shift.

James was all too happy to get away from Defiant. That station was scary as all heck, man. He waltzed his way into the main room, humming something mildly inappropriate, but stopped when he saw Silence looking at Swarm. "Good morning, guys," he said brightly.

Silence's gaze flitted to James, she stared at him now, unblinking.

-good- -morning- -james- Swarm spelled out as they took to the air.

Silence looked back to them as they moved.

"You guys making friends with each other?" James asked. He didn't seem to be bothered by Silence's unblinking stare, maybe he was just too happy about leaving Defiant to be weirded out. "Swarm's one of my best friends. Communicating is a bit weird for us cause I'm telepathically deaf, but Swarm's patient so they spell things out for me," he explained to Silence, nodding sagely.

Rigel got up and went to get a cup of coffee. He noticed the gathering and waved to them "Morning all." He said before heading for the cockpit.

Dawn was glad Esk brought her her food. Whe was stubborn enough to try to go after it herself if he hadn't.

Esk set the tray on a side table. "Hurry up and get better, I don't like being a nurse." He told her flatly.

Silence nodded slowly at James' explanation, then looked to Rigel.
Staring intently at him.

-We- -have- -been- -talking- Swarm told James. -You- -seem- -very- -cheerful-

Dawn smiled at that and shook her head "If I had control of that, I would. Being still because you want to be and being still because you are forced to are very different things."

Rigel paused and looked to Silence "Need anything?" He asked gently then looked to his cup and held it up "There's a pot of coffee made, if you want some."

"I'm glad to be away from that station," James said. "Did you discuss anything I should know about?"

Silence tilted her head, then slowly shook her head at Rigel.

-we- -learned- -that- -she- -cannot- -speak- Swarm told James helpfully. -Her- -species- -are- -non- -verbal- -they- -communicate- -telepathically.- -Isn't- -that- -facinating?-

Rigel smiled then dipped his head a little "Alright." He said then headed for the cockpit again. "Hey Luka, you want a break?" He asked when he reached her.

"Oh, that's neat," James said. "I guess that makes sense, I mean, if you can think words to people, why would you waste your time moving your mouth?" He nodded approvingly.

Swarm bobbed up and down in a sort of nod.

Luka glanced back to Rigel, stretching. "Sure. Thank you."

James smiled. "Well uh, have you had breakfast yet, Silence? And has Ivor? Cause it's a good idea to eat something, or so I'm told."

Rigel smiled at her then looked out the window "Seems quiet out there right now."

Silence shook her head.

-shall- -we- -take- -food- -to- -the- -other?- Swarm asked.

Luka nodded. "For now, things can change fast." She yawned, she'd been up all night.

"Yeah, maybe we should bring Ivor some food? He seems nervous about being here," James agreed. "Come on Silence, let's raid the food pantry."

Silence frowned, but rose from her seat to follow James.

"Get some rest, Luka" Rigel said, looking back to her, prepared to take her place.

James led the way to the kitchen, and started opening cabinets. "Pick up whatever you like," he said. "I don't know what your guys prefer. Honestly, I don't know much of anything about food, so don't trust me." He grinned.
