Family's base

Post by Miss Heny on Wed Jun 29, 2016 3:04 pm

First topic message reminder :

The ship would fly to the base, landing with ease Merith would be in the cell for a hour before some keeper hybrids would be sent to drag him out. he would be for to go down the prison hallway and was roughly shoved into another spacier cell.

Across from hims a chain being with runes engrave on the shackles sat down boredly, her eyes watching him with curiosity.

Kay raised both hands as Asher raised the gun, disbelief and panic in his eyes. That expression turned to one of shock and betrayal as the bullet hit his arm and he stumbled back a few paces with a hiss of pain. He gasped as the magika exploded, sending seething burning pain through his shoulder and arm as a small ball of acid burst.
He shuddered, staring at Asher in shock and horror.

---

Mourn leapt up from the bed as Asher shot Kay, honestly astounded the android had it in him. Was that really the android? Wow... amazing, no laws and he'd already turned totally rogue. This was a surprise though, he'd believed the android genuinely cared about the quiet medic. Hmmm. Maybe not. Maybe robots really couldn't do complex real emotions.

---

Matt had tears in his eyes, he barely noticed how intolerably warm it had become in his cell now, he just kept watching Thalia, willing him to wake up, to not be dead. Rage seethed inside him as he slowly and shakily got to his feet. He HAD to get out of here, they'd just continue to kill Thalia over and over again if he didn't.

He went back to throwing himself against where the door should be, screaming till his voice was hoarse.

Asher watched for a few seconds, assessing the effect, then fired again twice, aiming for Kay's body this time. He didn't want to seem like he was rushing, but he didn't want to drag this out either.

Kay's legs went from under him and he slumped gracelessly to the ground, gritting his teeth as the first shot electricity through him and the second burned him. There was the unmistakable sound and smell of charred flesh as he fell forward, holding his weight with his one uninjured arm and squeezing his eyes shut tight. Why was Asher doing this? He couldn't understand, and the pain of that hurt more than any magical bullet.
He gasped for breath, shaking badly as he looked up once more, pleadingly, silently begging Asher to stop, to explain.

Asher looked into Kay's eyes, seeing fear, and confusion, and betrayal, and almost lost his resolution to continue. Kay didn't deserve this. He might be one of the strongest, bravest people Asher knew, but even he couldn't be ready for this. It was just too cruel, too vicious.
But the children couldn't be slaves, and the Keepers couldn't continue to die.
Oh Kay, I'm so sorry.
Then he fired the remaining three shots into Kay's back, waiting a few seconds between each, before quietly turning to leave.

Each went off with an elemental blast, another fire, tendrils of shadow that pierced and wound their way agonizingly deeper before disappating and finally one that exploded into smaller shards.

Kay flinched each and every time but never made a sound, and as Asher left he carefully lowered himself onto his uninjured side, drew his knees up to his chest and lay there, staring at the wall blankly. He refused to cry, he didn't even want to think right now. He just lay there bleeding, shuddering with each breath.

Asher... why? He closed his eyes, kind, sweet, gentle Asher... what had they done to him? that couldn't be him... could it?
Kay valiantly fought back the tears, glaring up at the camera. I agreed to your deal you bastards... I was compliant! Well no more. If that was how they repaid his obedience, he was going to make this all very very difficult for them.

Asher stepped out of the room, maintaining his stoic calm with difficulty. He bowed to his representative, handing her the gun back. "I hope I did not disappoint, My Lady."

~~
"YOU TRAITOR!" Ellie screamed, too outraged to care whether anyone heard or not, "IT'S TRUE, I KNEW IT, YOU'RE JUST A SOULESS CALCULATING MACHINE ONLY WORTHY OF THE SCRAP HEAP! I HATE YOU! IF THE OTHERS DON'T GET TO YOU FIRST, I'LL TEAR YOU APART MYSELF!!!"

"Very good, Asher." The woman said heartily, writing down something on her check-board. She looked back into the room at Kay, frowning slightly, "That was just a bit of reinforcement. We have a sneaking suspicion that some people here aren't as cooperative as they seem. Our apologies, Kay, --correct?-- but it had to be done. I promise you if you obey from now on, nothing more will come to you but good. However, if you don't..." She looked back at Asher, smiling, "I guess we'll have to repeat this very scenario, won't we?" She closed the door behind them. With that, she motioned for him to follow.

~~~~~~
Merith let out another round of agonizing wails as the salt ate away at his flesh. His rib cage now showed brightly and blood began to drip from his insides as he coughed weakly, beginning to slowly die again.
~~~~~~

The scion hummed absentmindedly as she watch Thalia die, and waited for him to revive.

~~~~~~
Sonata swallowed, before nodding, "Very well."
Asher followed. "It's a pity he was too prideful to join the Family's cause without a fight. I've found that to be one of the great flaws of living creatures; they focus too strongly on emotion and impulse, and have difficulty choosing the logical action."
Harehly isis sneered as she watched death reclaim the keepee.
----
Thaila violently gasped and coughed, his newly formed eyes blinking in pained at the light his body violently jerked.
----
The female shrugged at Shane, "It appears she tried to attack him and was corrected."
"Then, follow me." He told the immortal Terran calmly.
Shane frowned at pretty much everyone on the screens laying on the floors if they weren't hanging from chains. Asher had disappeared from his room, but Cassi and Sonata were together again. "Of course she fought, Starr cannot stand the thought of slavery." He said quietly then bowed his head in thought.
He didn't respond to the representative, then again, what exactly could he do? He just lay where he was and ignored them, biting back the pain and betrayal and anger as best he could.
After a while Kay would get up from the floor, drag himself to the bed and set to work examining the wounds he could get at. Tearing a strip from the bedding, he bound his shoulder. He didn't have the equipment for proper first aid, but damnit, he wasn't going to do nothing and risk infection from open wounds. Thankfully the fire effects had mostly cauterized those wounds, but there were two others on his back he couldn't get a good look at and stung every time he moved. He did the best he could with limited equipment, at least stemming the blood flow.
He closed his eyes, mulling over his options. He'd convinced himself they'd done something to Asher, he couldn't quite believe he'd willingly have been so cruel, they must have done something. It eased the pain a little to believe that.
He knew he had to get out of here, he had to get everyone else out of here, but he didn't trust these people at all. He'd cooperated, he'd agreed to their stupid terms, they'd still punished him. How did that inspire loyalty? No, they'd get no loyalty from him. He decided he'd play along for now, until they took these damn shackles off. And then, then he'd tear their damn throats out.
---
Mourn watched everything quietly, Ellie looked extremely angry, he couldn't quite figure out what she was yelling. He caught occassional words lipreading, hate, scrap heap... he had to assume this was a reaction to Asher's betrayal.
He wondered when his turn to leave this cell would come, and if they'd bring a doctor. After a while he was just too tired to continue his vigil, he curled up at the foot of the bed and fell asleep, snoring gently.
---
Matt had slumped to the floor panting heavily, tears of anger and frustration streaming down his face. He swore loudly in every language he knew, then rested his head against the wall as he tried to catch his breath. It was hot... it was way too hot.
Merith sputtered awake as yet another renewal of life entered him, his lungs gasping out in absolute aching agony as he merely stood there, trying to catch his breath.
~~~~~~

The scion hummed, waiting patiently for Thalia to come to his senses, "Ready to go again? I'm supposed to stay in here and... tend to you... until I'm told otherwise."

~~~~~~
Sonata cautiously followed, Cassi curling up in her hands, feeling much safer now that she was with her.
~~~~~~

The woman led Asher to a single-room dorm, where he'd be left alone. It was under-par, looking no more than an undesirable college dorm, but it was more private and comfortable than the cells.

Re: Family's base

Post by flying_purple_monkfish on Thu Jul 28, 2016 11:05 am

---time skiiiip----

A few weeks passed. Painfully for some, less so for others, but certainly nobody was happy or free.

Mourn had fully embraced the tests and training, he didn't really care who was giving the orders so long as he wasn't trapped in a cell or being tortured.
Every so often he'd feel a stab of an unfamiliar sensation when he thought of the hawk girls, or of vestia particularly, was that guilt? Whatever it was, it didn't feel very nice and he resented it. The others weren't his problem, he barely even knew these keepers who'd gotten them all into this mess, why should he be loyal to them? Nobody had ever explained any risks of crazy cults coming after them if he'd stayed with the ship after he'd been rescued, so screw them. It wasn't fair to expect him to endure torment when he had no idea this was a potential threat. Maybe he'd have jumped ship earlier had he known.

But then the hawk girls would stumble into his scrambled mind again and remind him that they too didn't deserve any of this, and he'd angrily shove those thoughts aside and go back to punching things.

---

Matt continued to be belligerent and defiant, continued to attack anyone who came into his room. They'd given up feeding him, but that didn't really seem to do much. Kevali, even half breeds, could sustain a fair while of famine before they really started to notice it. His biggest problem was the constant heat, and the dehydration. They'd give him water, but only enough to stop him dying, never enough to actually sate his thirst.

A few days into his incarceration he'd attacked another guard and tried to escape, he'd been tazed mercilessly.

After about a week of laying in a stifling hot cell, barely able to breathe with a splitting headache, watching Thalia's torment as and when they decided to screen it, replaying each awful death over and over for Matt's personal benefit, he curled up, closed his eyes and tried to retreat into himself. His elemental didn't want to be here either though, it refused to take over, it wanted to shrink back and pretend like it wasn't here either.
Matt's usual coping strategy was lost to him in the awful heat, both his souls were in conflict with one another, neither consciousness wanting anything to do with this scenario but neither one able to overpower the other.

He couldn't sleep, every time he passed out he'd be jolted awake by that accursed collar.

By the end of the second week he barely had the strength to stand, let alone fight. He'd rolled over so he couldn't see the screens, closed his eyes and just wished he could just die.

---

Kay had been given a bracelet which had roughly the same effect as the shackles, but at least it was less restrictive to his movement. He remained locked in his humanoid form, but honestly that suited him just fine.

They'd also given him some sort of necklace, and the first time he heard his own voice coming from it he'd panicked. He hadn't heard himself speak in over a decade and honestly, it was terrifying. He'd tried to claw at it and get the awful thing off but he couldn't remove it, so he'd sunk to the floor shaking.

His broken damaged little mind clamped down even harder after this, and he fell silent again, trying to avoid any situation that would require him to communicate.
He tried valiantly not to let his anguish show and refused to beg them to remove the damned thing, instead he only spoke if he HAD to speak and when he did, the process seemed to cause him physically pain. He flinched at every word, and kept them to the absolute minimum.

He dutifully worked at his tasks in isolation, worrying about the others in their cells, trying not to think about Asher and trying to come up with some sort of way to get them all out of here. He didn't care what happened to himself, he just knew the others needed to get out of here. But the opportunity to make such a deal never arose, it was just test after test, task after task, and he bit back the hatred and the anger and obeyed, not because he wanted to, but because he knew he had to. If the others were to have any hope of freedom, he had to obey, swallow his pride and his hurt and just get on with it.

They tried to break Ellie's will by shocking her and replaying the betrayals and tortures over and over, and to some extent, it worked. She shut down her mind, going unresponsive, curling up in a little ball of human misery and imagining death and gore and victory. She hated aliens, she hated Asher, she hated pain, and all she wanted to do was slaughter her foes and go back to the algae farm. Then everything would be good again, and she could forget that this had ever happened.

~~
Asher went through his days in a soulless blur, emotions firmly pushed aside, and thoughts purely bent on the task of finding a means of escape for his friends, which never became apparent. He felt nothing, except for the awareness that this was all going to destroy him once he dared to feel again, and that got him through each day without giving away his goals.
He accepted every task he was given without complaint, and thankfully, the tasks didn't involve hurting his friends again. They did involve periodically going by the cells, accompanying some member of the Family or one of their workers, smugly wearing absolutely no restraints. He ignored Ellie's yells of "traitor!", but knew they would haunt him when he finally let himself process.

Starr had not given in to the torture yet. Watching the others be harmed mearly stirred her anger up and made her fight more since she wanted to go and help them. After a few days of that they had stopped showing her the ones being hurt and instead showed her the ones that were cooperating freely. Asher, Shane and Sonata with Cassie. That hurt her more than torture, to see them being friendly with the keepers and submitting to them.

At this point, she was laying on the floor, having torn up her bed again. She had been shocked unconcious so often over the last few weeks that she was getting used to it, though it still hurt like nothing else. Her will and her anger were strong, but she had mostly reverted to more of a feral state to cope with the torture. She didn't even try to speak, mearly growling at anyone who dared to step inside the room with her and if they stayed, she attacked despite the pain. She found this state to be like being drunk, that endless anger that she couldn't turn off.

~~~
Skye had cried often in the last few weeks, being sick when they played tohe torture scenes for her. She didn't know what they wanted from her that she could give. Unable to handle the torture, she retreated in her mind, just sitting and rocking herself and being mostly unresponsive to the outside world. There was no forgetting seeing a real god, something these keeper creatures could never hope to be.
~~~
Shane tried to follow the rules, keeping to his human form and trying to stay on their good side, though this was nothing like what he had known before and he often made mistakes. He did try, though their form of magic wasn't the same as what he could do, so even that made it hard to learn anything magic.

~~~
Moone and the other kids had been recaptured taken and seperated. Moone was given a collar after having disappeared a few times. She didn't understand how or why that happened when it did, and being drugged for the infractions didn't help with that. Even when she was free of drug haze, she fought to get away and find her sister. That was all she cared about after the first week there. She wanted them to be home and away from all this crazyness.
Re: Family's base
Merith would be one of the people who got the worst of the deal, not being able to sleep at all as Isis had forcefully fasted on a Heretic's Fork to his neck. For several days his body slowly shut down from lack of sleep alone, his mind turning hallucinogenic in the matter, and ironically, his only relief of this was the most agonizing part of the torture: death. And Isis eagerly brought it on in many ways. He recalled the days his room was cold enough to just be under hypothermia level, and slowly, he froze over time. Flames of all temperatures cooked him alive. Never was there a day where he could rest -- after all, unlike the others, his body could handle it.
Not like that made it any better.
~~~~~~

The scion, on the other hand, actually allowed Thalia some sleep. She always felt a nice wake up call in the early hours in mid-sleep was the best form of punishment. She always had something on schedule, and always it resulted in around two deaths a day on average. She made it slow, and always involved something similar to each other -- every one of them had to do with string of some kind. She loved string, and loved twirling Thalia around like a puppet. Her particular favorite was cheese wire.

~~~~~~
Vanessa would take the beatings soundly, something about her always able to handle pain and torment. It was something she had been training for, meditating for. The Family did not break her. Part of that was her own experience, while the other part was the pride she showed for her pupil, who bravely stood alongside the defiant crew members, despite the wails that would echo from her mouth as they forcefully tore her bound souls apart for just the hell of it.
~~~~~~

Shock easily screamed, but much to their annoyance, they eventually stopped trying to torture him, because he was always laughing, always insulting, always joking around no matter what they did. Eventually they just settled with constantly drugging him to keep him sedated, slowly trying to figure out the best way to get to his mind.

~~~~~~
Lilian couldn't do much either. She had watched Sonata leave, but frankly, she wasn't upset by it. She knew why Sonata did what she did. It was for the best for Cassi. It was so her surrogate child wouldn't be alone in this hellhole. Alas, being only human, Lilian fought valiantly, but towards the end of the second week, was constantly sitting in the corners with her knees curled to her chest and her head buried in between.
~~~~~~

Rey, Jay and Caleb only fought until they could no longer bear it, and over time, all three's eyes grew a milky white as their own instincts from the arachnid addition to their biology took over as a way of self-defense. In this state, they could very well have been mindless, quiet and silent, not once talking even if they got reprimanded for it, but otherwise followed all orders obediently.

~~~~~~
Sonata calmed her nerves. She hated these tests, these lab coats. The way they pulled at her old memories, faded and grey, from her mind, of mountains and valleys before the tectonic shifts, and before everything was built up and over, the blurred faces of different people throughout human history, the boils she watched from the black plague, the crusades, the renaissances, the crusades. She watched it all through a blurry grey window of time.
~~~~~~

In the meantime, Heny's door would open a few minutes after tormentor had left...

Heny sat there in the corner on the bed, her eyes glazed she didnt seem to even notice. Her face looked gaunt from lack of desire to eat and the slight bruising around her jaws from being force to. Her once shining mane of red hair was dull and matted, her nails broken and her skin marred from the self clawing her mind was shattered from the repeated mental toture. What was real? What wasn't? Did merith truly abandon her or was it another one of their sick jokes?

---

Thaila would try to not sleep, knowing what would happen next he would slowly started to mentally shut down. His brain trying to find a mental escape from this hell he couldnt look at the screen anymore, he couldn't really see anything actually.

The figure paused, stepping up to Heny's bed and stopping. Her simple kabuki mask looked down on Heny -- the mask did not have a mouth nor a nose, but merely an oval shaped mask with slitted eyes. Red and gold swirled around the mask in a beautiful array of white and gold and crimson. Raven black hair, just as Merith's, waterfall'd down her back, perfectly shiny, full of volume and pristine, seeming to sway in the little wind it got from merely walking... If you could call it walking. With each step she seemed to glide across the floor. The pale white kimono decorated with a black and gold nine-tailed fox couple danced at its hem as a soft grey sash tied at her waist. Her arms were folded within its long folds of sleeves. Inari looked down at Heny, "Is this what he truly fell in love with? Pitiful. I shan't believe it."

The woman hesitated, before slowly raising her hands to remove the simple yet elegant mask. Underneath of a woman of exquisite beauty, with pale and flawless skin, large round grey eyes of soft clouds, and small, fox like features that would have made Aphrodite blush. "I am what the Japanese Terran would call the goddess - or god, depending - of industry and agriculture." Her hand suddenly produced a warm bread roll, and she ate daintily, "I am known as a matron of rice, tea and sake. I wish only for fertility and life. Do you recognize me yet, Heny?"

"I only wish I was." Inari said bitterly, straightening a bit and returning the mask to her face. "You have taken something very precious from me, and yet, you still have it, even now. I don't think you very well deserve it. I saw through the eyes of Vestia's memories, how many shunned Merith after his fall, even though you yourself have done so much worse. None of you deserve to call him friend or lover." Her voice grew colder and more bitter with each word. "None of you... And yet..."
