Upon Vestia: Chapter Twenty-Nine

Ivor was pretty thankful for Tala's quiet thoughts, if her unshielded thoughts were anything like her speaking voice, he'd have had a headache already.
He nodded slowly.

James smiled softly. "You should make sure you have something to entertain yourself with for the trip," he said suddenly. "The Silver Devil crew are nice, but it gets boring on that ship, believe me. Normally I entertain myself by harassing Esk and singing suggestive songs, but that isn't your style, I'm guessing."

Nova laughed and shook her head "No, but singing does sound distracting." She said, glad for the subject change.

"Well then you're halfway to keeping yourself entertained for the trip. You should pick up some books or take one of the spare tablets we have lying around, and then you'll be good to go," James said.

Nova chuckled and nodded "I was given one of the tablets to borrow for the trip." She said happily

"Oh good, then you'll be fine," James nodded. "Pro tip, don't ask Esk too many personal questions if he comes along on the trip. Unless you want to annoy him, of course. He's very prickly about his privacy."

"noted" Nova said with a smile. She didn't want to upset her new friends if she could help it.

"I should probably go check on Armin, " James said. "Is there anything you want help with to get ready for your trip? Cause I can help first. Or you can ask Luka for help, she's awesome too."

"No, I should get back to the Devil so I can meet the others as they arrive" Nova said and smiled at him "You should check on Armin, Starr wants him to be well too."

James nodded. "See ya. I'll try to see you guys off tomorrow morning, but if I can't for some reason, thanks again anyway."

Nova nodded and smiled "I am glad that I could help you." She said happily before waving and heading out

James headed for Armin's room, hoping to see how Armin and the doctor were doing. He was worried about his buddy, and even though the doctor seemed great, he wanted to double check.

Armin was dozing in his hammock web while the doctor quietly read something on a tablet and made occasional notes.

James knocked lightly on the door. "Anyone awake?" he called, keeping his voice somewhat quiet.

The doctor looked up. "you may enter." She spoke softly, just loud enough for vestia and james to hear.

Armin stirred in his sleep.

"Worry not my friend, rest." the doctor told him gently.

James quietly pushed open the door and peered in. "Sorry, I just had to check in, I was worried about him. Is he okay?" He whispered.

The doctor nodded, she looked solemn. "He is conserving his energy, he will molt soon."

James nodded. "Makes sense. You said it would probably start within 36 hours, are you thinking it'll be sooner than that?" he kept his voice pretty low, trying to not bother interrupt Armin's rest.

"One can never be certain with these things, I will alert you when it begins. " The doctor told James. She smiled softly, she understood he was worried about his friend.

James smiled weakly. "Okay, thanks. I guess I'll leave you to look after him, then, you know more about what he needs than I do." He sighed. "Man, it's gonna be good when the molt is over and he's gotten his strength back."

The doctor nodded. "Yes, everyone will feel a lot better I am certain." She smiled again, looking over to Armin who was sleeping soundly.
"He is fortunate to have such a thoughtful and caring crew."

"He's a good guy, I'm sure he could make friends anywhere," James said. "Well, anywhere were they aren't too scared of arachnid-type beings, anyway," he added, being realistic. "I'll leave you to look after him I guess, if there's anything you need, anything at all, tell Vestia. She's totally listening in and she can tell me."

The doctor chuckled at James' remark about spiders. She nodded. "of course."

James smiled at her. "See you soon. And thanks again."

The doctor bowed her head. "Till then my friend, farewell."

James quietly closed the door behind him, and headed back toward his room. He might as well start selling things up again, it seemed like a good thing to do.

James might run into Esk in the corridor. He was eating a bagel.

James blinked at the sight of Esk. It was always a little unexpected to come across someone eating in a corridor, after all. "Hey man, how's the boiled bread dough?" He asked.
