Upon Silver Devil: Chapter Four

Dawn would be alright, she just got bored laying there alone and without a project to do.

Luka smiled and laughed. "That's sweet." She picked up her cutlery. "Growing up my dad didn't get much time to cook, so we usually lived off prepared stuff or deliveries. But every so often he'd get time off and then he'd always make an effort. Homecoming especially, everyone would be home, all my brothers would come back from wherever they were and whatever they were doing and our father would insist on a family meal. He'd always cook up a roast like this" She looked a little misty eyed again, gesturing at her plate. "and it would always take so long. He'd forget something, or he'd start late because he'd forget how long it took last time." She laughed at the memory. "And he wouldn't let any of us help. And the kitchen would be chaos and we'd all be starving by the time food came out but then it was ready and we'd all gather around the table and eat together, often for the first time since last homecoming and it was all worth the wait."

Rigel smiled, listening to her talk of her family like that. "That sounds really nice." He said honestly.

"yeah..." Luka agreed. "i miss them." She admitted.

"We always miss those we love, but you will have a chance to see them again, won't you?"

Luka nodded. "I hope so." She ate. "It'll be nice to see them all again."

Rigel nodded and started to eat too. He did hope she got to see her family again.

Luka hoped so too, very very much so.

She ate in awkward silence for a while, not really sure what to say.

Rigel ate quietly for a while then spoke "I would like to learn your language, if you wouldn't mind teaching me."

Luke looked up. "I... i'm not sure how good a teacher I am, but... that's a really lovely idea." She hesitated. "Do Pandorians have their own language?" She knew so very little about them, oops.

Rigel nodded "We do, though Common has pretty much taken over."

"So it's a dying tongue?" Luka asked. That seemed sad. She couldn't imagine losing your language, it was like a part of your cultural identity. "Can you speak it?"

Rigel nodded and smiled again "Yeah, I can speak it, it's still taught in schools today, it's just easier to learn and speak common out here."

Luka nodded. "it's remarkable how many races speak the common tongue, and with such fluency and clarity. " She smiled softly. "I'd.. love to hear your native tongue... if... you'd speak it." She was curious okay?

<<I like that you want to know more about me.>> Rigel said in Pandoran. It was a lyrical language that seemed to have the four elements in it. It was rough on the consonants, though flowing and smooth overall.

Luka stared at Rigel, she had no idea what he just said but smiled anyway. "thank you." She tilted her head. "seems only fair, if I teach you, you teach me?"

Rigel smiled and nodded "That sounds fair." He agreed "I said 'I like that you want to know more about me.'"

Luka beamed. "Why wouldn't I?" She tilted her head. "I care about you. You .. get to know people you care about right?"

"Right" Rigel said with a nod. That was what you did and he did want to make her happy.

Luka smiled softly and went back to eating.

Rigel did as well, eating companionably. "There are some things I can't talk about, but you can ask anything you want to. Even if it's just to ask to watch a movie or eat together."

"Can't? or would rather not?" Luka asked, she was curious okay? Can't implied like, major secrecy and something dodgy didn't it?

"Can't, I made promises." Rigel said with a smile. "My past is not all clean, I was a bit of a pirate at times even when I was a salvager."

Luka nodded slowly. "I think everyone has some... unclean aspect to their past." She mused. "there's a few things I can't talk about either. Protocol, you understand?" She frowned a little though, she liked to believe Rigel was a good man and couldn't really picture him as a pirate. Well, not a real nasty pirate. More of a dashing antihero perhaps.

"I understand. " Rigel said with a smile. "If there's anything you don't want to talk about, you don't have to talk about it. " He assured her.

Luka nodded. "I know... " She hesitated. "thank you" She added. "Should.. we finish that movie?"

Rigel smiled and nodded. "If you want to. I am finished eating." He added, wiping his mouth.

Luka finished her last few mouthfuls, nodding. "I'd like that I think."
