The Guild Capitol: Chapter Three

"Man that's complicated. " Matt rubbed his head, yeah, that was enough to give anyone a headache. "He's got no moral high ground now though right? Because he's totally got a kid now."

"Yes, it's very complicated," Asher agreed, "I rather wish it was simpler and more obvious what happens next." He raised an eyebrow, "Why are you worrying about his moral high ground on the matter of children?"

Matt averted his gaze and rapidly mumbled "no reason." He was a terrible liar.

Starr looked around too, uncertain if it was allowed or not

Asher's gaze softened a bit, yeah, he had been getting a funny feeling that Matt was hiding something lately. He had his guesses, but he wasn't going to jump to any conclusions yet. "If there's anything you want to talk about confidentially, I'm here," he said quietly.

Matt smiled weakly. "Thanks man." He shook his head. "I'm good. I think.. i think i'm good."

Maybe I should just take her outside, let you grab the books and we'll meet up again? Maybe that was simpler?

Asher nodded. "If you ever want to talk about anything, the offer stands."

"Thanks." Matt smiled. "You're a good guy Asher. You're gonna make a great... almost kinda dad." Man this was surreal.

Asher looked amused. "I do hope I'll be a good almost kinda dad," he agreed. "It's so strange, isn't it? This morning we had absolutely no idea that Kay was going to end up with a hatchling imprinted on him. And now here we are," he shook his head.

Starr looked to Kay again "If these two see it, they will want some, no, if we go outside, it will have to be together. "

"Yeah, must have been quite a shock. I mean, at least most people get several months to prepare and freak out before it happens right?" Matt laughed weakly. "You know when we were kids we had these ducks, and one time the mother died, and we had to hand rear these tiny little newly hatched babies. Web ended up with these two ducklings convinced he was their mother, they'd follow him everywhere and if he wasn't about they'd try to follow me. It was adorable. It was kinda sad when they grew up and joined the rest of the flock. " He looked thoughtful. "Good thing this place is here, maybe the books here will know how this imprinting thing works and whether she'll accept Starr as mom. How's she taking it?"

Kay nodded. Alright. We can do that He looked back to Asher [We're going to go feed them, do you want to grab the books? We won't be long i'm sure.]

Asher smiled at Kay, "I'll get the books, you guys take care of the babies," he said. "See you in a bit!"
He looked at Matt again, "That really is adorable," he said, imagining the ducklings following Matt's twin around. "Yes, we have high hopes for this book collection. It should at least answer a free of our multitude of questions anyway. Starr seems very matter of fact about all this. Maybe she's relieved to not have the entire attention of three babies." He looked amused.

"Good point, three kids at once sounds like way too much work. Even if they are adorable." Matt agreed. "I'm gonna keep trying to find Kasi. "

"Sounds good," Asher said with a smile. He looked to Mandeep, "I guess we didn't talk much but it was good to meet you. Good luck finding Kasi."

Mandeep looked up at Asher and nodded in silence. Indeed, it was a conversation Mandeep felt he had no quarry in. He too, said his goodbyes.

"Good luck guys." Matt waved and went back to Mandeep. "Sorry, family stuff. Apparently i'm now kinda an uncle." He grinned.

Asher went to work looking for informative star dragon books. He picked up any that sounded promising, hopefully including one on star dragon growth to maturity. He found a book that had obviously been penned by slavers as a guide to raise star dragons, and considered putting that back just because it was disturbing. After a bit he decided it might be informative and he didn't have to let anyone else read it, so he added it to his book stack.
Hopefully these books would be a good start at least.

Starr nodded, looking to Mandeep to say goodbye before heading out to find a place to feed the babies. Even her two were starting to ask for food, having picked up that thought in her mind.

Danika had gotten quiet now, watching the others then looking back to Kay again and snuggling against him. He was happier now and didn't have so many feelings of leaving. She wasn't quite sure if she liked Matt or not, he made Kay have odd feelings both of love and family and wanting to be away. It confused her. It was also interesting to her that asking for food made them able to leave this situation. Hm...

Kay nodded to everyone else and headed after Starr. He smiled softly down at Danika. It's alright little one.

Starr found a table near the outside of the library to sit at so they could feed the babies together.

Kay settled down and let Danika down onto the tabletop, putting his tablet away so he had both hands free.

Danika looked at Kay then to Starr, moving closer to the food bucket as it was brought out so they could feed them. Kerr and Vela came out to stand on the table as well, chirping hungrily as Starr gave them pieces of the meat to eat.

Kay followed Starr's lead, taking a piece of meat and holding it for Danika.
I hadn't realised you were carnivorous. He told Starr, honestly what she ate had never really occurred to him.

Danika quickly took the piece and ate it, chirping again when it was gone.

Starr chuckled softly "It is the easiest thing to give them, when they are a bit older they can have a more balanced diet, but I don't think they can process plant matter yet" It was something she had wanted to look up

Interesting. Kay smiled softly and grabbed another piece of meat for Danika. Matt seems a little too happy about all this, it's irritating.
