The Guild Capitol: Chapter Two

"Now we can find something for kids." Dawn said and moved to look around the place.

James stared up at the ceiling for a bit. It had plants and birds and stars on it and it looked cool. Then he started looking at the toys. Oooh, dolls! Dolls were awesome. Also wind up toys! He went to try some of those.

Dawn found a frog toy that flipped itself and played with it a little

Rigel was looking at the robot pet toys curiously

"Those things better not be sentient," James jokingly told Rigel, going over to have a look. "They're so cute!"

Rigel shrugged as he looked at them, picking up a cat one. "They are cute, Terrans have problems thinking any animal is sentient, no way of knowing if these are or not."

James booped one on the nose. "No way to know if I'm sentient either," he joked. Then he muttered something under his breath, remembering that he had a soul. Darn it. "Well if it runs away, let it go," he told Rigel, joking again.

Rigel chuckled and nodded "Yeah, alright" He said and pet the cat's soft fur before setting it back down. "Don't know if the kids would want a pet though."

James smiled and went to look at the wooden train sets. "Oh my gosh! It's James!" He picked up the red steam engine, looking thrilled. "We had the books, we never had the train set though," he explained. "James was my favorite. Gotta love the engine with the cool color who shares your name!"

"James?" Rigel asked, frowning and coming over to look at the trains curiously

Dawn was further in the store, looking at dolls.

"Thomas the Tank Engine. Really messed up early Terran franchise about a race of beings that were created to serve humans," James said. "They got, ahem, killed" not gonna use the word 'scrapped', nope "if they didn't work hard enough, and they got bricked into tunnels if they refused to move. But it was wholesome entertainment I swear!" He laughed.

Rigel raised an eyebrow at that description then shook his head "Never heard of it." He said and picked up one of the trains to look at it

"Well because it's really weird, it's more popular with the Supremacist Humanists than anyone else. But somehow we ended up with the book." James shook his head, "I never thought to ask Emma if she chose it herself, or if someone gave it to her. Very mysterious."

Rigel chuckled then shrugged and set the train back down to pick up another one that said "Polar Express" along the side. "Are all trains on it, or just the ones with a face?" Yeah, that was weird, trains with faces.

"Mostly just the ones with faces," James said. "Although there were a few stories where the illustrators put pictures of real steam engines that had no faces, it was weird. I don't think they made toys of those though." He looked around more, picking up toys to look at. This store had a really good selection.

Rigel nodded and set the train back, moving on to look at a crate of balls.

James found a display full of odd, deerlike creatures that glowed in pearly hues. "Pretty."

Bianca sneaked into a dollhouse and wandered through it curiously.

Rigel chuckled when he got to the hover/skateboard section, looking at them curiously. "Ever try anything like this?"

"Nah, they never let us do anything that could result in us getting damaged or exploded," James said, going over to join Rigel. "Looks like fun!"

Rigel chuckled softly and glanced around ""Think they would let us try them out?"

James waved to a shop employee. "Hey, mind if we try these out?"

The employee looked at them then motioned them over "Pich the kind you want to try and come this way" They had a room for this "You break it, you buy it though." He warned

James picked a scooter that was cheap. He'd try out the fancy ones on the holodeck, where he wouldn't have to buy them if they broke. Heh. He looked over at Rigel.

Rigel picked one out and followed, grinning at this chance to try it out. They were led into a room with ramps set up so they could test them out. The only door was the one they used to get in but there were skylights for light above.

James tried out his scooter curiously. Eek, real life. Much scarier than a holodeck.

Rigel spoke to the employee for a minute before starting to ride the skateboard...with helmet and pads on. Safety!
